As many of our congregation fall into the vulnerable category identified by the health agency, we would also ask that, should you be exhibiting the above symptoms, you consider whether it is appropriate to attend our main services or larger gatherings. We must remember that although we may feel that common cold symptoms are manageable and passing, the effects of this may lower the immune system of others. The most important thing to remember in the coming weeks is that isolation could carry many negative feelings. Isolation and loneliness occur when we react negatively to the environments we are in and our surroundings. A Letter from Ali Dear everyone! I thank God for the young people that are coming along to Newick Church, for the energy, enthusiasm and joy that they bring with them. They are the future of the Church and form part of God’s family here at Newick to welcome and cherish. I also thank God for every adult or young person that is already giving up their time in whatever capacity to welcome and provide for the children, young people and their families at Newick Church. As our family grows, we are uniting to equip our young people and families by working together in small or big ways to resource our growing congregation. There are so many ways to be involved in this growth, whether through giving, cooking, crafting, helping at the clubs or just by smiling at chatting to our young folk and families in Church and out of Church. This is how we all grow a Church that is united, loving and outreaching. With this in mind, there are aspects of the Youth Ministry that do need specific support if they are to be sustainable and supportive. Please feel free to pray earnestly about whether God is calling you to be part of this Ministry. Here are some ideas:

1. Owls Club, every 3rd Sunday – Could you help set up from 8:30 and clear up from 11:30? Could you maybe help clear up the crafts during Owls club to give Patsy a break? Could you volunteer to read the Bible story after the craft activity?

2. Owlets, every 1st/3rd Sunday – Could you sit at the back with the children and make parents/carers feel welcome and chat with them and their children and help with crafts?

3. Sunburst Club, every Wednesday lunch from 12:15 until 1:45, the Pod, Newick School – Could you help me supervise the 20+ children who attend (mainly KS1) and clear up?

4. One Wonderful World Holiday Club – 7/8/9 April 9:30 to 12:45pm Could you act as a receptionist to open/close the club on any of those days? – Easy, sitting job! Could you sort out the refreshments on Thursday April 9th? Could you be an extra pair of hands to help supervise the children? Cook with the children? Do some gardening with

the children? Could you help clear up after each session? 5. NYC on Wednesday evenings 7-8:30pm at the Barn Centre. Could you wash up in the kitchen, keep an eye out

upstairs? Nothing too onerous! We just need more watchful eyes.

As part of the Diocesan safe recruitment procedures, all volunteers are asked to read and sign a code of conduct for working with young people and if you wish to become a regular volunteer, a DBS certificate will be required, but help is given with this process by our safeguarding officer Caroline Smith. Any regular volunteering in Newick School will be subject to the school’s safeguarding procedures.

Is God calling you to get involved with the next generations? I pray for that! Every blessing, Ali x Email : [email protected] / Mobile : 07855295331
