JRA-11 (TRAPSPEC) Improvements and developments of

ion traps, spectrometers and detectors forlow-energy nuclear physics experiments

Objectives:

1. perform in-trap spectroscopic studies of rare isotopes

2. improve the capabilities, precision and sensitivity of existing trap set-ups

3. perform precise recoil ion spectroscopy

by:

- development of multi-purpose set-ups for precision decay spectroscopy experiments in ion traps,

- development of new trap configurations to house large solid angle detection set-ups,

- enhancing the performance of experiments by using dedicated new electron- and ion sources,

- development of retardation spectrometers for high-resolution recoil-ion spectroscopy for trap-assisted - correlation measurements.
