갈남항 탁 트인 바다에서 즐기는 짜릿한 손맛~!

조용하고 작은 항이며 녹색빛깔의 바닷물이 훤히 보일 정도로 깨끗한 곳이다. 근처에는 작은 모래사장이 있어 수심이 얕아 파도가 잔잔하며 바다밑에는 각종 조개와 성게가 많아 친구, 아이들과 함께 잡는 재미가 쏠쏠하다.

갈남전망대에서 바라보는 월미도는 한 폭의 동양화를 보는 듯 하다.

Sea with a fabulous view off the Galnam Port!

Galnam Port is quiet and small, so pure you can see through the water. Around the port are sands, the water is shallow and the waves are calm. The sea, rich with clams and sea urchins, presents you with the joy of angling.

Wolmi Island viewed from the Galnam Observatory is comparable to a scroll of Oriental painting.

임원항(임원회센터) 전국 제일의 돔 낚시터로 유명한 곳

임원항은 원덕 지방의 상업무역 뿐만 아니라 수산물이 풍부한 어장으로 큰 역할을 하고 있다. 울릉도와 가장 가까운 지역에 위치하고 있어 1980년 5월 27일 임원항과 울릉도 간의 192톤급의 정기여객선이 취항하여 울릉도까지 3시간 30분만에 운항하였으나 현재에는 중단된 상태이며, 바닷물이 깨끗하여 사계절 싱싱한 생선이 잡히고 있어 관광객이 연중 끊이지 않는다.

Imwon Port and Imwon Sashimi Street - country’s most popular sea bream fishing place

Imwon Port has taken an important role as a commercial port and fishery of the area. Located near to Ulleung Island, it launched a 192-ton liner shuttling to the island in 3.5 hous on May 27, 1980, which is now brought to a halt. You can angle fresh fish here every season, which attracts the tourists year-round.

호산국가무역항 에너지의 거점항구

LNG생산기지와 종합발전단지 등 에너지 관련 대형국책 사업의 거점 항만 역할을 담당하게 되며, LNG생산기지와 종합발전단지 건설과 연계하여 2015년까지 방파제 2.4km 10만㎡ 배후 부지를 갖추고 30만톤급 선박 접안이 가능한 규모의 항구로 건설될 계획이며, 주변에 철새들의 보금자리인 솔섬은 사진촬영지로도 유명하다.

Hosan National Trade Port

The port, harboring LNG production and power generation complexes, is a foothold of Korea’s key energy projects. It plans to be equipped with a 2.4km-long breakwater and 100,000㎡-wide hinterland by 2015, enlarging itself into a port docking 300,000-ton vessels. Nearby the port is Sol Island famous as migratory birds’ habitat and photographers’ favorite.

하장산나물축제


산나물로 유명한 하장에서 봄나물이 본격 채취되는 5월 중순에 개최되는 축제로 산나물 채취, 산나물 요리, 맨손 송어잡기 등 다양한 체험과 사남루 판매장에는 싱싱한 산나물을 시중보다 저렴하게 구입할 수 있다.

Hajang is well-known for its spring greens. The festival is held every mid-May when they are plucked here. It presents various hands-on experiences - picking and cooking wild greens, catching trouts with bare hands and so forth. At the Sanamru store, you can buy fresh wild vegetables more cheaply than in other stores.

이사부(異斯夫)는 누구인가요?

Who is General Isabu?

제22대 지증왕 6년 (505년) 실직국(삼척) 실직주에 첫 군주(軍主)로 부임한 인물이다. 많은 활약 가운데 삼척과 연관된 것은 512년 오분항에서 출발하여 대형 나무사자를 만들어 불을 뿜게 하는 등의 지략으로 우산국을 정복하였다.

General Isabu took the post of the first ruler of what is now Samcheok in 550 - the 6th year of King Jijeung, the 22nd king of the Shilla Kingdom. Legend has it that, in 512, he showed the feat of creating an outsized, fire-belching wooden lion on his way from the Obun Port to Usanguk - what is now Ulleung Island - and conquering the island with it.

삼척정월대보름제

정월대보름에 실시했던 삼척 특유의 기줄다리기를 주축으로 천신, 지신, 해신에게 소재하며 초복과 풍년, 풍어를 기원하는 제례행사와 전통민속놀이를 포함한 축제로 1973년 음력 정월 보름에 처음으로 막이 올랐다. 1970년 강원도 무형문화재 제2호로 지정된 삼척기줄다리기는 삼척문화원 주관으로 개최되고 있으며, 2007년부터 개최된 전국기줄다리기대회는 높은 호응 속에 전국적인 행사로 자리 매김하고 있다.

The festival, having begun in 1973, comprises Samcheok’s unique tug of war practiced every day of the first full moon, rituals to make a wish to God for a bumper year and big haul and traditional folk games. The tug of war, designated as Gangwon Provincail Intangible Cultural Property of Korea no. 2 in 1970, is hosted by the Samcheok Culture Center while the national tug of war competition, since 2007, has positioned itself as an event of national popularity.

해맞이 축제

삼척 해맞이 축제는 매년 1월 1일 환상의 드리이브 코스로 유명한 새천년 해안도로변에서 펼쳐지는 대표적인 겨울축제로 시만과 관광객이 한자리에 모여 송구영신의 아쉬움과 희망을 담아보는 화합축제이다. 어슴프레한 어둠과 구름을 뚫고 떠오르는 힘찬 일출의 감격은 차가운 바닷바람과 함께 꽁꽁 얼었던 몸을 녹이기 충분하다.

The Sunrise Festival is a flagship winter festival of Samcheok held every January 1 along the New Millennium Coastal Road, an excellent driveway. Tourists and citizens see the old year out and the New Year in together here. The touching moment when the sun rises breaking the dawn is more than enough to thaw your body frozen up by the chilly wind.

강릉, 동해, 삼척을 잇는 바다열차는 58km의 아름다운 동해안 해안선을 달리는 열차이다. 전 좌석을 측면방향으로 배치하고 창문도 일반열차보다 크게 만들어 동해의 넘실거리는 파도와 드넓은 백사장을 한눈에 감상할 수 있다. 3량의 객차를 개조한 바다열차는 해변과 어울리는 시원한 외관을 자랑한다.

Seaside train of memories

The Seaside Train runs 58km from Gangneung to Donghae and Samcheok along the beautiful East Sea coastline. All of the seats are set laterally and the windows are bigger than ordinary trains’ for a better view of the East Sea’s rolling waves and wide beaches. The train, renovating 3 ordinary carriages into 1, presents you with a wider internal space well-matched with the extensive beaches.

Since about a decade ago, the village has been the first Korean hamlet cultivating and mass-producing senticosus. At the senticosus festival held here every June, various seasonal hands-on events are available - tasting the herb named Baekhwa Cheoncho, making five-grain bamboo-tube rice for wellness and so forth - along with fun experiences like senticosus dyeing, corn plucking, freshwater fishing, etc.

가시오가피는 식물 산형화목 두릅나무과의 낙엽 관목으로 인삼보다 좋다는 약용식물로 알려져 있으며, 예로부터 신경통, 관절염, 고혈압, 신경쇠약, 당뇨 및 강장제로 널리 이용되고 있다.

Senticosus is a deciduous shrub in the family of Japanese angelica tree. It is known to have more medicinal effects than ginseng, having been used as a tonic treatment against neuralgia, arthritis, hypertension, nervous breakdown, diabetes, etc.

미로면 동산리 동산분교(폐교)를 활용, "흙과 나무"란 주제로 다양한 생활공예체험을 할 수 있는 곳이다. 흙을 이용하여 도자기를 직접 빚어 굽기도 하며, 나무를 이용하여 액자, 시계, 함 등 여러 가지 생활용품도 직접 만들 수 있다. 도자기를 빚고 나무를 다듬으며 천진한 마음으로 흙장난하듯, 공작놀이를 직접 만들고 완성하는 과정을 통하여 즐거움을 찾을 수 있다.

Skin scuba diving is adventurous and exploratory sports to have you appreciate the marvelous underwater scenery. The Marine Tourism and Leisure Sports Center has a pool reserved for it, facing the sea.

Wind surfing is nicknamed the gem of water sports. With the wind, board and sail being one, wind surfers glide on the waves like flying over it. The center has a number of training boards for first-timers.
