    T e job market for Nurse Aides continues to expand. Jobs areavailable in nursing homes, assisted living, home care andclinics and hospitals. is program prepares students to take theTCEP Examination to receive Certication to be a State TestedNurse Aide.

    is part-time, 10-week program, which is held in the eveningsfrom 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, includes classroom and clinical experi-ences and is designed to prepare the student to take the compe-tency exam.

    FEE: e cost for the class, including text and workbook, is$525.00. ere is an additional cost of uniform and shoes, estimatedat $80.00. e fee for the state competency examination is $96.00.

    Personal Fitness Trainer Certicate 60 hours

    T is 60-hour certication program includes 15 hours of lec-ture, 15 hours of practical training and a 30-hour internship.e course is taught over 5 weeks for greater retention, with writ-ten and practical testing conducted in week 6. Topics include bio-mechanics, exercise physiology, tness testing, equipment usageand health assessment.

    Learning Outcomes:

    A er successfully completing this course, students will be able to:1. Understand and describe basic anatomy, kinesiology and ex-

    ercise physiology.. Assess an individuals level of tness using ACSM guide-

    lines.3. Design and customize exercise programs.. Demonstrate proper execution of resistance, cardio-respira-

    tory and exibility exercises.5. Identify and demonstrate at least one strength exercise for

    every major muscle group.

    6. Explain ACSM and AHA recommendations for cardiovas-cular exercise.

    Completion Requirements:

    Students must earn a score of 70% or higher on the writtenexam and in each of the 5 section practical exams. Attendance isrequired and students are only allowed one excused absence. Stu-dents with an excused absence must schedule a make-up sessionand complete any work assigned. Adult CPR Certication (AEDand CPR)is required for the certication to be issued.

    Students are also required to complete a 30-hour internship. Allitems must be completed within 12 months of the original coursestart date. e renewal period is based on the original coursecompletion dates. Approved for 60 contact hours. W.I.T.S.     Quality Improvement Certications

    Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certicate 80 hours

    This hands-on course provides participants with the method-ology and tools of both Lean and Six Sigma to move an or-ganization towards World Class status. Emphasis is on gainingprocess knowledge with critical thinking, variation reduction, anddeveloping team members in the organization who are focusedon improving customer satisfaction, decreasing defects, costs andcycle time, while generating business growth and breakthroughimprovements.

    e proven and powerful Lean Six Sigma methodology is taughtusing many in-class examples, simulations and hands-on exercisesto ensure that participants have a practical, working knowledgeof the tools.     Lean Offi ce-Lean for Service andAdministrative Processes 24 hours

    H igher customer expectations, cost-cutting pressures, slim-mer margins and reduced lead times are challenges most or-ganizations continue to face. Lean Enterprise, a business operatingphilosophy in which customer-value drives processes, has provid-ed a solution for many companies by eliminating non-value-addedactivities helping to reduce lead times, increase productivity andimprove quality and throughput for both products and services.

    Lean is not a new concept in the manufacturing industry. Formore than 25 years, Lean has been successfully implemented onthe shop oor to eliminate waste and increase revenue. It is only recently that others are using Lean Offi ce as a key productivity factor to streamline and eliminate waste from their offi ce and ad-ministrative processes and achieve bottom-line savings.

    Lean for the Offi ce is for anyone that wants to improve theirproductivity and make their offi ce more effi cient. e class willconcentrate on identifying the different forms of waste and thetools and techniques to eliminate them.

    For those who may want additional information in the qualityarena prior to taking the CQIA Certication, a Lean for the Offi ce program is also available. Lean for the Offi ce, a 24-hour training program, designed to understand the steps to planning and sustain-ing improvements in administrative areas, starts on August 26 and runs through September 16 on consecutive Wednesdays. is classwill also be held at Kent State Salem.

    Certied Quality Engineer CQE 24 hours

    T st Preparation Program for Certication. e CertiedQuality Engineer is a professional who understands the prin-ciples of product and service quality evaluation and control. isbody of knowledge and applied technologies include, but are notlimited to, development and operation of quality control systems,application and analysis of testing and inspection procedures, theability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose andcorrect improper quality control practices, an understanding of human factors and motivation, facility with quality cost conceptsand techniques, and the knowledge and ability to develop and ad-minister management information systems and to audit quality systems for deciency identication and correction.

    Requirements for admittance:

    You must have eight years of on-the-job experience in oneor more of the areas of the Certied Quality Engineer Body of Knowledge.

    A minimum of three years of this experience must be in a de-cision-making position. Decision-making is dened as the au-

    thority to dene, execute, or control projects/processes and to beresponsible for the outcome. is may or may not include man-agement or supervisory positions.

    If you were ever certied by ASQ as a Quality Auditor, Reli-ability Engineer, So ware Quality Engineer or Quality Manager,experience used to qualify for certication in these elds appliesto certication as a Quality Engineer.

    If you have completed a degree from a college, university ortechnical school with accreditation accepted by ASQ, part of theeight-year experience requirement will be waived, as follows (only one of these waivers may be claimed):

    Diploma from a technical or trade school one year will bewaived.

    ssociate degree two years waived.Bachelors degree four years waived.Masters or doctorate ve years waived.Each certication candidate is required to pass a written ex-

    T is class is for those who have little or no knowledge of per-sonal computers. e class will cover basic computer equip-ment, an overview of the uses, including word processing, e-mail,researching information, dening memory, care of your computer,web browsers and search engines and local internet providers.

    Word processing is a very important tool and provides thecapacity to type, edit, save and print documents. You willalso learn how to attach documents to emails.

    Excel Spreadsheets

    S readsheets provide are utilized to organize data in a system-atic manner. It is useful for organizing nancial information,such as a budget, and saving the data. e program will gurebasic formulas such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and di- viding. Other uses include household budgets, records to incometaxes and records of donations. Charts of the information will becreated.

    Working in a small group with a trained facilitator youll learnhow to apply rules to build 11 key nancial, emotional and socialresources to improve your life. You will learn the hidden rules of success by learning about middle class values and a wealth per-spective.

    And you will nd out how you can set specic goals to attain astable future for you and your family.

    By investigating your own economic reality, assessing yourrecourses, developing a plan to build resources you will make amodel for your future prosperity.

    ACT Prep 8 hours

    8-hour workshop (done in 2-four hour sessions) designed to as-sist in achieving better scores on the American College Test(ACT) and to expose students to effi cient test-taking techniques. Itis recommended that you attend the session closest to your sched-uled ACT exam. Textbook is provided.
