KSR Architects and Folio Design have a proven track record in

securing planning permissions and delivering to the market prime

and super prime residential developments ranging from individual

houses to multi-apartment buildings

We have a comprehensive approach to design solutions which

respond to site context, client requirements, market demand and

commercial reality as appropriate, never a ‘one size fits all’ solution

The workload of both KSR and Folio is substantially based upon

repeat business and we take pride in working closely with clients, to

take them on the journey from concept design to realisation of their

project

Our portfolio includes both luxury residential work abroad, including

Russia, Barbados and China, but also for the top end overseas

market looking at developing or living in the UK

We have won many awards including the Ring International Council

of Interior Architects and Designers Award, the China Creative Storm

Sustainability Award and twice recently the prestigious UK Evening

Standard New Residential Award

KSR works closely with Folio Design whose impressive oeuvre covers

all aspects of interior design, giving the benefit of a fully integrated

architecture and interior design service

KSR’s China office provides additional skills and resources if required,

allowing us to respond rapidly to client requests as well as providing

a testing ground for new and innovative focal projects

KSR uses Revit, a powerful 3D CAD programme, designed for

building information modelling (BIM) to create a single coordinated

parametric model for appropriate developments. We also have

in-house 3D printing facilities.

As an early adopter, KSR has used Revit as a BIM tool

for nearly 10 years to generate and manage building

data. Having captured its potential at an early stage, we

have successfully delivered projects using Revit and are

using it increasingly as an integrated tool with selected

project teams. It is our experience that this integrated

approach to managing the design process leads to

tangible benefits.

We prefer that other core consultants on the Design

Team are also BIM literate so that the project model is

shared and coordination errors minimised. We utilise

the 3D visualisation capacity of BIM to clarify and

communicate the design proposals so that our clients

are fully joined in the design development process.

KSR employs a specialist visualiser who uses the Revit

model as the basis for preparing sophisticated renders

of projects.

We are able to provide 3D views of exteriors and

interiors to help our clients understand the project and

to enable us to test the building with finishes, lighting

etc. These can also form part of the marketing strategy

for a development.

KSR also has in-house 3D printing facilities.

In the UK, KSR and Folio together comprise five

partners and approximately 30 members of staff in the

London office, with a further 25 people available in the

China office to provide backup as required.

Roles are as follows:

Partners are responsible for the smooth running of

the practice and direct involvement with projects (CVs

included).

Practice Directors provide expertise on a range of

projects covering design, technology and delivery

Project Directors are responsible for the day-to-

day running of one or more projects along with a

committed team of architects and designers

For each project, the most appropriate team is brought

together to respond to the type of project, stage

and programme demands. A project director will be

allocated and will follow the project from inception

to completion. They will be shadowed by a practice

director who will provide supplementary knowledge or

is able to step in to the management role if required.

It is also KSR policy that partners retain direct

involvement with projects. The remainder of the team

will be made up from the core of experienced architects

and designers and will remain consistent for the project

where possible.

Richard Solomon - Partner, KSR

Within KSR, Richard plays a significant role

in expanding the client base, developing its

internal management system and maintaining

its high quality of design. Originally from South

Africa, Richard was a founding member of KSR

in 1983. He has lectured at the London Chamber

of Commerce, University of North London and

the American College, where he also acted

as external examiner. Having worked closely

with developers, he has a comprehensive

understanding of all aspects of development

particularly in the residential sector.

Gordon Jefferys - Partner, KSR

Gordon maintains a close association with the

running of larger projects within the practice at

both client and team management levels and at

design and development stages. Gordon studied

at the University of Cape Town and prior to

joining KSR, occupied a senior position at

Sheppard Robson where he gained considerable

experience on large and diverse planning, urban

and architectural projects in both the UK and

abroad. Gordon has extensive experience in the

leisure sector.

Les Koski - Partner, KSR

As Design Director, Les is responsible for

maintaining design quality across the practice.

He has developed systems to support the

practice and is responsible for Professional

Practice. Les qualified at University of Cape

Town and was a founding member of KSR in

1983. He has lectured at the RIBA, Manchester

University, London Chamber of Commerce,

various forums regarding mixed use buildings

and industrial conversions and was actively

involved in Camden Society of Architects

both as a committee member and exhibition

organiser.
