1. Introduction
This data booklet deals with Grundfos Pumps Korea heavy-duty
sewage pumps, type KSN, ranges DN500,600 and 800.

The KSN pumps, ranges DN500,600 and 800, are free-flow
channel impeller pumps specifically designed for pumping
sewage and wastewater in a wide range of municipal and
industrial applications.
The pumps are made of resistant materials, such as cast iron
and stainless steel. These materials ensure good durability in
waste water applications.
The pumps are fitted with motors from 75 to 800 kW as
standard range.
The motors are either 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14-pole motors, depending
on the motor size.
The free passage in the pumps is 100 to 230 mm.
The pumps are available for these types of installation:
• submerged installation on auto-coupling system
• dry installation, vertical
• dry installation, horizontal
• free standing
Max. submersion depth 20 m when installed on auto Coupling
Applications
The KSN pumps, ranges DN500,600 and 800, are specially
designed for wastewater in a wide range of applications, such as
following:
• raw-water intake
• wastewater transportation
• sewage treatment plants
• municipal pumping stations
• industries.
The pumps are suitable for both temporary and permanent
installation.

4. Selection of product
Ordering a pump
When ordering a pump, you need to take the following four aspects into consideration:
1. pump type
2. custom-built variant (option)
3. accessories
4. controller
Pump • Pump as specified in the type key • 10m Cable • Paint
The primary purpose of the paint is to protect the cast iron of the product. The painted parts are painted with a two-component epoxy.
Thickness of the dry paint film is 150 µm.
Color code is NCS S9000-N (black), gloss code 35 • Pt100 sensor in upper and lower bearings • Pt100 sensor in winding • Three thermal switches (Klixon), one in each phase • Two moisture switches; one in terminal box and one
in stator housing • Tested according to ISO 9906:2012 grade 2B. • KSN comes with a DIN flange discharge connection as
standard. • If you order KSN with auto-coupling installation type, auto-
coupling must be ordered as accessories and dry horizontal and vertical installation type, discharge and suction elbows also must be ordered as accessories. Pump stand will be supplied with dry horizontal installation type.

7. Product description
Features
Bearings
The bearings are greased for life. The bearing life span has been calculated as ISO 281: 2007 Lnmh = minimum 60,000 hours at best efficient point

Angular contact ball bearings and roller bearing with angle ring.
Support bearings
Single-row deep-groove ball bearing and roller bearing
Shaft seals
The pumps have a primary and a secondary shaft seal. The material combination of the primary shaft seal in all pump types is silicon carbide/silicon carbide. For the secondary shaft seal, the material combination is silicon carbide/silicon carbide. The shaft seal consists of two mechanical seals and separates the motor from the pumped liquid. The shaft seal is a cartridge seal for easy service. The combination of the primary and secondary seals in a cartridge results in a shorter assembly length compared to conventional shaft seals. Furthermore, this design minimizes the risk of incorrect fitting.
Testing
All pumps are tested before leaving the factory. The factory test report is based on the ISO 9906:2012 standard. Test reports can be ordered directly with the pump or can be ordered separately based on the pump serial number. Other tests or third-party inspection certificates are available on request. See Variants on page 8.
Motor
The motor is a watertight, totally enclosed motor. • Insulation class: F (155 °C) • Temperature rise class: F (105 °C) • Enclosure class: IP68 • As standard the pumps are equipped with a bimetallic
thermal switch that will cut the circuit when motor temperature reaches 130 °C. • For motor protection and sensors, see Sensors on page 16.
Cooling system
The motor with non-cooling type is cooled by surrounding liquid and the motor part must be submerged fully at all time. In more demanding application like dry vertical and horizontal installation, the motor can be fitted with a cooling system, internal open or external closed loop cooling system. The motor with internal open loop cooling system is cooled by pumped liquid and external closed loop cooling system requires an extra equipment for coolant circulation.
Power cables
The power cable is of the 0.6/1KV PNCT (standard) or 0.6/1KV PNCT-S (screened) type.
The cables are 10 m long as standard. Other cable lengths are available on request. • Maximum conductor temperature: +90 °C.
• Maximum ambient temperature: +40 °C. • Minimum ambient temperature: -20 °C. • Conductor: Stranded plain copper conductor, class
5 (IEC 60228). • Insulation: Extruded EP rubber. • Sheath: Extruded black rubber (CR rubber). • Marking: 4-core cable: Green, White, Black, Red.
7-core cable: Green, Black, Black, White, White, Red, Red.
Control cables
The pumps have 0.6/1KV PNCT (combined power and control cable) or screened 0.6/1KV PNCT-S (noncombined).
Cable entry
Watertight stainless steel, soft-shaped cable entry and sealing rings to prevent damage of the cable or leaks. The cable entry has a user-friendly design enabling quick and easy disconnection of the cable. Only two bolts need to be removed to remove the cable entry.
Sensors
The table shows the difference between standard product and FPV (factory product variant) product as to the number of sensors. FPV sensor versions can be chosen individually from the table.

Customized sensor options • WIO (water-in-oil) sensor. The WIO sensor measures the
water content in the oil and converts the value into an analogue current signal. The two sensor conductors are for power supply as well as for carrying the signal to the measuring device or controller. The sensor measures the water content from 0 to 20 %. It also sends a signal if the water content is outside the normal range (warning), or if the oil level is so low that the sensor is in the air (alarm). The sensor is fitted in a stainless steel tube for mechanical protection. The WIO sensor can be connected to the Grundfos IO 113 module.
• PVS 3 (pump vibration sensor). The vibration sensor monitors
the vibration level of the pump. A change in the vibration level indicates an abnormal situation. The cause of this can be a clogged impeller, worn bearings, closed outlet valve, etc., indicating that service inspection should be carried out now in order to protect the pump or the pipe system from being damaged. • Moisture switch in seal housing. One moisture switch is in
seal housing in order to protect motor from being damaged. (early warning system).
IO 113 module
The IO 113 module is a protection module for Grundfos stormwater/wastewater pumps. The IO 113 has inputs for digital and analog pump sensors and can stop the pump if a sensor indicates a pump fault.
IO 113 can be connected to Grundfos Dedicated Controls system and allows advanced monitoring functions: • motor temperature • moisture in motor • water in oil • insulation resistance.
SM 113 module
The SM 113 module is used for collection and transfer of sensor data in pumps, having a large numbers of sensors attached. The SM 113 module can be placed either inside the pump (allowing fewer sensor leads out of the pump) or in the control cabinet next to the pump installation. SM 113 works together with IO 113 through power line communication using the Grundfos GENIbus protocol.
SM 113 can collect data from: • 3 current sensors, 4-20 mA • 3 Pt100 thermal sensors or 3 Pt1000 thermal sensors • 1 PTC thermal sensor • 1 digital input.
Level controllers
Grundfos offers a wide range of pump controllers to keep a watchful eye on liquid levels in stormwater and wastewater applications, and to ensure correct operation and protection of the pumps.
Controller ranges: • Dedicated Controls, DC control cabinets • LC and LCD level controllers.

8. Operating conditions
Pumped liquids • pH value: 4~10. • Liquid temperature: 0 °C to +40 °C.
When pumping liquids with a density and/or a kinematic viscosity higher than that of water, use motors with correspondingly higher outputs.

The pumps are designed for continuous operation or for intermittent operation. The maximum numbers of starts allowed are shown in this table:

Frequency converter operation
In principle, all three-phase pumps can be connected to a frequency converter.
However, frequency converter operation will often expose the motor insulation system to a heavier load and cause the motor to be more noisy than usual due to eddy currents caused by voltage peaks.
In addition, large motors driven via a frequency converter will be loaded by bearing currents.
Frequency converter operation will also influence the efficiency of the pump system.

How to read the performance curves
Note: The pumps are tested according to ISO 9906:2012, 2B tolerance. Testing equipment and measuring instruments are designed and calibrated according to the standards mentioned. The pumps are approved according to tolerances for entire curves, specified in grade 2B.

of + 20 °C and a kinematic viscosity of 1 mm2/s (1 cSt). • In case of other densities than 1000 kg/m3, the discharge
pressure is proportional to the density. • When pumping liquids with a density higher than 1000 kg/m3,
motors with correspondingly higher outputs must be used.
• NPSH: the curves show average values calculated under the same conditions as the performance curves.
Calculation of total head
The total pump head consists of the height difference between the measuring points + the differential head + the dynamic head.
Htotal = Hgeo + Hstat + Hdyn
Hgeo: Height difference between measuring points.
Hstat: Differential head between suction and the discharge side of the pump.
Hdyn: Calculated values based on the velocity of the pumped liquid on the suction and the discharge side of the pump.
Performance tests The requested duty point for every pump is tested according to ISO 9906:2012 grade 2B. In case of pumps ordered on the basis of impeller diameter only (no requested duty point), the pump will be tested at a duty point (according to ISO 9906:2012 grade 2B). If the customer requires either more points on the curve to be checked or certain minimum performances or certificates, individual measurements must be made, and a certificate can be ordered.
Certificates Certificates have to be confirmed for every order and are available on request as follows: • Certificate of compliance with the order (EN 10204-2.1)
• Pump test report.
Witness test It is possible for the customer to witness the testing procedure according to ISO 9906:2012. The witness test is not a certificate and will not result in a written statement from Grundfos Pumps Korea. The witness itself is the only guarantee that everything is carried out as prescribed in the testing procedure. If the customer wants to witness the test of pump performance, this request must be stated in the order.
