KS4 CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
The curriculum in the Secondary School at Tenby International School (TIS), Setia Eco Park is comprehensive and holistic and this document provides only a brief overview of what we offer. The intention of the document is to provide parents and student with enough information for them to get a ‘feel’ for the curriculum.
The Key Stage 4 (KS4) Experience The KS4 curriculum at Tenby International School, Setia Eco Park offers breadth and balance and culminates in our students sitting their IGCSE examinations. Although acquiring strong passes in IGCSE subjects is a key goal of KS4, the Tenby experience in Years 10 and 11 is about far more than just examinations. Whilst navigating their KS4 journey our students are encouraged to pursue a variety of different experiences and challenges including those within the formal curriculum but also experiences that stem well beyond it. Our students will experience camps in both Years 10 and 11, they will be required to participate in lunchtime and co-curricular activities and to lead across a variety of areas; some students will represent the school as they pursue their sporting interests, others will participate in musical and dramatic productions whilst others still will take up leadership roles on the school’s prefectural board. College and University Providers are looking for students who demonstrate a range of skills and interests. They expect students to be independent learners capable of a high level of analysis and reflection. They expect students to be outstanding communicators who are able to articulate strong, considered opinions always in consideration of the diversity of the audience. We will continue to personalise our KS4 Curriculum based on the needs and potential of our students. This can be recognised through the delivery of our Fast Track Programmes in Mathematics and Modern Foreign Languages.
We believe that the breadth of academic and enrichment opportunities in Key Stage 4 at Tenby creates
confident but grounded young people with the lifelong learning skills, enabling them to be highly
successful global citizens with the greatest possible opportunity to achieve their outstanding potent ial.
Please use this broad curriculum overview to monitor and support your son/daughters progress and development. It will enable you to understand subject content and discuss target areas for independent study and a planned revision programme. Please do contact staff directly with any questions and use termly reports and Parent Teacher Conferences to further recognize and support progress. Kind regards, Tenby International Secondary School, Setia Eco Park
