TWBTA:kimball art centerP R O J E C TFive architecture firms were invited to design the new Kimball ArtCenter. The Kimball’s goals were to increase community outreach, enhance the quality and scale of their exhibi-tions, and inspire patrons. Competitors were also asked to preserve/restore the current historic structure that is now home to the Kimball.I and another architect worked on a com-petition entry for the Kimball Art Center Transformation Project. I mainly participated in the construction of the model, but I was also included in every design meeting with the principals of the firm.

for t anc ient s i te study
P R O J E C TIntensively study the site conditions of For t Ancient Historical Park, an archaeological site consisting of ceremonial mounds built by the Hopewell Indians. Without disturbing the landscape design a visitor center consist-ing of a museum, permanent lodging, and research facilities. The main priority is to embed the building into the landscape without dramatically impacting it.

tectonic studyP R O J E C TDesign an abstract school set in an urban context based on architecutral tectonics and the organizational term “radial”. Throughout the design process, explore and expiriment with the relationships between mass, planes, and frame.
C O N C E P TUse thin framing members to create mass
Create layers of transparency and framing by using planes
Arms radiating from the central hub form programmatic zones
Create literal and implied “rays”
