Of Mice and Men Chapter 1 In the beginning, Steinbeck describes the way Lennie walks as bearlike. The way he drags his feet is similar to the way a bear drags his paws. Later on, Lennie stalks his prey, a mouse, like a tiger. He silently watched it until he struck the mouse when it wasn’t paying attention. Lastly, Lennie thinks like an animal. Like some animals, they do not have the brain capacity to solve problems. I feel like Lennie doesn’t have the ability to get himself out of complex situations. Hand gestures tell a lot of what a person can be thinking. For example, if they are playing with their fingers, the person might be nervous. Or, if they are clenching their fists, they might be mad. Steinbeck describes the actions of Lennie’s hands to show his emotions without physically telling the reader. George is very harsh to Lennie. He hates him for ruining his life of wealth and love, but he loves Lennie dearly. I believe that he thinks of Lennie as a brother of his that he has to take care of. As much as someone hates their family, love will always triumph.

Hand gestures tell a lot of what a person can be thinking. For example, if they are playing with their fingers, the person might be nervous. Or, if they are clenching their fists, they might be mad. Steinbeck describes the actions of Lennies hands to show his emotions without physically telling the reader.

George is very harsh to Lennie. He hates him for ruining his life of wealth and love, but he loves Lennie dearly. I believe that he thinks of Lennie as a brother of his that he has to take care of. As much as someone hates their family, love will always triumph.

In Weed, Lennie grabbed a womans dress because he thought it was pretty. Because of that, the woman thought Lennie was trying to assault her. The two were run out of town. Similar to the dress, Lennie also loved to touch mice. He loved the feel of them as much as he loved the prettiness of the womans dress.

George dreams of buying a couple of acres and a small house to live in. Along with Lennie, hed own a couple of animals and live off the food on their farm. Theyd have a vegetable garden to eat from and a rabbit farm for Lennie. Together, they wouldnt be bothered by anyone else and theyd work any day they pleased.

Their dream of having a rabbit farm is unrealistic because of the amount he wants is nearly impossible. To add onto that, Lennie wants multicolored rabbits. Furthermore, they wouldnt be able to live off in just their land. Theyd probably have to go to town to buy supplies and necessities.

To begin with, I think George and Lennie will never get the farm. I feel like Lennie is always going to get in trouble, causing them to be chased out of town every time. Also, I think something bad is going to happen in the new town they are entering. The direct directions George tells Lennie foreshadows that there might be danger ahead. Lastly, I believe that Lennie will never get a puppy. I dont think hed get it because theyd always be on the run.
