The Emperor’s New Suit

Once upon a time there was an emperor whose only interest

in life was to dress up in fashionable clothes. He loved clothes and

kept changing them. Once, two thieves told the emperor that they

were very very fine tailors and could sew a lovely magical suit for

him that can only be seen by wise people. The emperor was very

excited and ordered the new tailors to begin their work. One day,

the king asked the prime minister to check the work of two tailors

minister saw the two men moving scissors in the air but he could

see no cloth. He praised the fabric for fear of being called foolish.

Finally, the emperor’s new dress was ready. The emperor could

see nothing but he too did not want to appear stupid. He admired

the dress and thanked the tailors. He was asked to parade down the

street for all to see the new clothes. The people could not see his

new suit but no one admitted it for fear of being thought stupid.

They foolishly praised the invisible fabric and the colours. The

emperor was very happy. At last, a child cried out, “The emperor

1. Going to the Movies : My class is going to the movie on a field

trip next week. We have to get permission slips signed before we go.

We also need to ask our parents if they will drive to the movie theatre.

We are going to see a movie that tells the story from a book we read.

We love it when movies are made from books. It is fun to compare the

movies to the book. I usually like the book better.

We get to the movie early so we can buy popcorn. Some of us

buy candy and slushes too. We all enjoy watching the movie. When we

return to school, we talk about things that were in the movie or book.

The movie and book are similar. We all agree that we like the book

better though. Book let you picture the characters any way you want to

picture them.

Answer the Question
