1\.OS80 Laoul was born in Uouron, U.S.S.it. i.n 1920 and migrated with

his family in 1924 to Palestine. From 1939 until 1943 he studied at the

Art Inst.itute of Chicago and toured the United States. lIe served in the

U.S. Navy frolll19411: to 1945. On his return to Palestine in 1946 he lived

at Iubutz Ein-llarod and was in the field corps of the Jewish underground

until 1949. Ilis first one-man exhibition was shown at the Tel-Aviv

Huseum in 1951. His first one-man show in Europe was held at Galleria

Topazia Alliata, Home in 1962. He was a founding member of the "New

Horizons" group. Among the important group exhibitions in which Kosso

participated are the XXIX Biennale, Venice in 1958; the International

Sculpture Exhibition, 1fiddelheim Park, Antwerp in 1959; "Sculpture Nella

cita", Spoleto, Italy in 1962 and Carnegie International in 1964.

lIe has been a leader in the international movement of "Sculpture

Symposium," participated in several of them and has organized the Israel

Symposium in the Negev desert in 1962.I

His conmdssioned worl(s include the bronze "Eternal Flame" sculpture

for the Jewish National Hemorial, Jerusalem (1961) and the concrete

reliefs of the "EL-AL" Airlines Building.

lCosso is a member of the International Federation of Sculptors Symposia

and the International Association of Plastic Arts (um~SCO).

At present he is resident-artist at California State College at

Long Beach.
