Kosciusko, Attala County, is positioned at the midpoint of a triangle between Jackson, Mississippi, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

Attala County is a quiet community of 19,564 residents. While it is small, we remain the medical hub of our region as home to the Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital and Kosciusko Medical Clinic.

We are strategically located in the center of Mississippi, within 2 hours of 14 aerospace companies and 2 hours of Nissan’s, Toyota’s, and Paccar’s OEM plants in Mississippi.

Both Entergy and TVA serve our area from an electric power standpoint.

Kosciusko is a community built by entrepreneurship with most of large employers having started from scratch in Kosciusko.

A few fun facts about Kosciusko would include being featured on the Mississippi Blues Trail, located on the Natchez Trace, and the birth home to Oprah Winfrey.

Kosciusko, Attala County, Mississippi

Students who have lived in Attala County for the past 12 consecutive months are eligible to receive the Sumner Scholarship which may pay up to 100% of college tuition and/or graduate school. The amount each student is eligible for varies based on which of the following four schools a student chooses to attend: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Millsaps College, or Holmes Community College. The amount of the tuition awarded varies depending on the income from the trust and the number of students enrolled in each institution from the designated counties, but in many cases all the tuition costs may be paid. In order to remain eligible during college, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA.

The Sumner’s Grant Award Winning SchoolsThe City of Kosciusko School District is one of only five districts to exceed the national average on college ACT scores and ranks as one of the top districts in the state based on SAT scores.

The KADC is the overarching umbrella under which Economic & Community Development, Main Street, Tourism, & the Chamber of Commerce fall. We are governed by a 13 person Board of Directors & will feature an anticipated staff of 4 people, 2 of which are already in place. KADC receives approximately 33% of its annual revenue from private investors, 33% from the City of Kosciusko, &33% from Attala County.

The PositionKADC is looking for a visionary team-builderto provide leadership in creating a better quality of life and economic opportunities for our citizens to serve as President/CEO ofthe Kosciusko-Attala County DevelopmentCorporation.

The President/CEO will report to the 13-member Board of Directors and managea staff of 4 people.

Key Responsibilities:• Team Building- pull all our partners together• Visionary Leadership- think outside the box and lead us to a variety of strategies, both

traditional and nontraditional to improve our economy and quality of life• Local Government Relations- work with the City and County to build collaboration and

camaraderie• Communicate, Communicate, Communicate- constantly strive to communicate with all

our partners via speeches, news articles, newsletters, radio appearances, etc. • Relationship Building with the Mississippi Development Authority- get to know the staff

at the Mississippi Development Authority, so we can take advantage of all their programs

• Relationship Building with Entergy and TVA- get to know the staffs of Entergy and TVA, so we can take advantage of all their programs

• Member Relations- regularly host networking and other opportunities for members, grows membership, strives for ways to make their “cash registers ring”

• Existing Business Support- get to know our local businesses, anticipate their issues, help them solve problems, helps them grow, connects them with programs designed to help them with the State, other partners, and utility companies

• Small Business Development- work with Holmes Community College to help grow small businesses via their incubator, connect entrepreneurs to resources

• Tourism Attraction- capitalize on the Natchez Trace, Oprah’s birthplace, and our downtown square among other things to generate tourism dollars for our community

• Product/Infrastructure Development- plan for future industrial parks and develop infrastructure throughout the community

• Outreach Marketing- strategize ways to reach prospects in the aerospace and automotive sectors

• Fundraising- get “buy-in” from community for additional fundraising and show how these dollars can support KADC in achieving its goals to better our economy and quality of life

Our ideal candidate will be energetic. He or she will be a self-starter, entrepreneurial in nature. He or she will demonstrate a vision for improving our community and will sell our community on the vision. He or she must have a professional demeanor and command respect. He or she will be as comfortable in a small town setting as in Washington DC. He or she will be a team builder which pulls our community together and gets us excited to support the effort. He or she will be a good communicator and be comfortable with public speaking. He or she will have knowledge of grant writing.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications • 75% - Community Development, Existing Business Support, Member Relations, Government Relations, etc.

• 15% - New Business Recruitment

• 10% - Administrative Duties

Estimated Time Spent On Areas of Responsibility

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is desired

• 3-years of experience in a business related, sales oriented, field is preferred

ResidencyThe CEO will be required to be a resident of Attala County within 3 months of starting the position.
