Kororo Public School Hello Everyone! Welcome to Education Week 2019 at Kororo Public School. It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members celebrating the education of our students yesterday at our open day and assembly. This years theme for NSW is Every Student, Every Voice. As a school we build and develop skills our students need in order to have and express a voice during their educational journey and as an engaged global citizen. Having a voice opens up a conversation for clarity, enquiry and also explores possibility. Education Week is all about acknowledging and celebrating the richness and diversity of our schools – the students, the community and the staff. We acknowledge and applaud you in the effort you go to ensure our students are known, valued and cared for. Thank you for the commitment and passion you share with our students in your school on a daily basis. In NSW schools every student, every teacher, every leader and every school is on a journey of learning – learning how to do things better than we have done them before, learning how to ensure that every student reaches their potential, learning to be the very best version of ourselves that we can possibly be and learning to be leaders in our talents and strengths. At Kororo Public school we believe there is a leader in us all.We share a culture of high expectations which empowers our students to build a shared sense of purpose, self-value and belonging that will prepare them for future lives as active citizens in an increasingly complex and dynamic society. As the parents and carers of the children in our school, it is vital that we work as partners, creating opportunities for our students to contribute to and thrive in society. Our SRC performed a great skit on the Habbit – Win! Win !” at the Education Assembly. Win!-Win! sees life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. Win-win means agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and satisfying. We both get to eat the pie, and it tastes pretty good! A person or organisation that approaches conflicts with a win-win attitude possesses three vital character traits: Integrity: sticking with your true feelings, values, and commitments Maturity: expressing your ideas and feelings with courage and consideration for the ideas and feelings of others Abundance Mentality: believing there is plenty for everyone Yours in Education! • DEPUTY’S REPORT by Mel Fenton

Hello, I had the pleasure of going down to Park Beach Plaza on Monday 5th August and watching our Stage 2 Choir and Dance group and KL perform for the community as a part of Education Week 2019. All the students and their teachers did Kororo Public School proud performing beautifully with magical smiles on their faces. Thank you to all the families that came along to support the students while they performed. The Education Week festivities have continued again at school today with a fabulous morning of fun and learning in the classrooms, a creative assembly and a technology showcase. Kororo Public School values lifelong learning and high expectations in their students and is consistently striving to model this behaviour in all aspects of the school. As a part of this process, Kororo are looking for your input from a parent survey about school communication. I have been enjoying meeting many parents before and after school on the playground this week and asking them to inform us about how we can improve on what we are doing here at Kororo. The 3-6 Winter Sports Carnival is fast approaching with all the students receiving their permission envelopes last Friday. Please ensure that this payment is paid promptly so our numbers can be finalised as soon as possible. On this day K-2 students will also be having their sports fun day at school and parents and friends are more than welcome to come along and join in the day. I am thoroughly enjoying my new Deputy Position here at Kororo Public School. Thank you all very much for making me feel so welcome and comfortable in the role.
