Transcript of Konsep Habitat Dan Niche
– Makanan
– Kondisi abiotik
– Perilaku
Istilah habitat mempunyai berbagai macam penggunaan:
Tempat hidup suatu organisme.
Suatu wilayah geografis.
Suatu wilayah yang ditumbuhi suatu tipe vegetasi.
Dan lain-lain.
Menimbulkan permasalahan kontraproduktifitas.
Tidak mendukung konservasi.
Menghambat komunikasi antar ahli—ahli ekologi.
Membingungkan publik.
Overuse (pemakaian berlebih) = seleksi
Underuse (kurang pemanfaatan) = avoidance (penghindaran)
Overuse
Bagaimana kita mendokumentasi seleksi habitat?
Contoh:
Kelelawar menggunakan panggilan frekuensi rendah/panggilan jarak jauh ketika mencari makanan di habitat terbuka;

Ketersediaan habitat = aksesibilitas sumberdaya.
Niche menjadi terbagi dua.

Niche overlap = similarity in how two species use resources.
≈ intensity of competition when resources are limiting
Niche “partitioning” allows two species sharing a limiting
resource to coexist in nature.
Niche partitioning = differences that allow coexistence
These differences
create a “refuge”
from competition
for each species.
How much is
enough???
Competition happens
only here.
Competition happens
only here.
Individuals are harmed, population growth slowed and
fitness is decreased in proportion to the area of overlap
= degree of similarity.
Resource Partitioning: examples of differences in resource use in similar species abound in nature.
Are differences related in any way to competition?
• Pre-existing differences allow species to coexist because they don’t use limiting resources exactly the same way.
• Phenotypic changes (acclimation) can allow relief from competition when resources are in short supply or competitors are present. = niche shift
• Genotypic changes (adaptation, ecotypic differentiation) occurred over time in the face of persistent shortage of resources and presence of competition
OR differences among species are irrelevant to competition--either resources are not limiting or competition is not related to the differences we observe.

Niche partitioning – there is a limit on the amount of similarity
between adjacent species that results in a regular spacing
of species’ morphology
Competition works as a biological filter to
remove or prevent the invasion of species
