In Mumbai, Sid Mehra is, in the words of his father,

an arrogant, spoiled brat. He lives with a doting

mother and a father who pays his expenses and

credit card bills. Sid takes his college finals then starts work at

his father's business; he lasts less than a week before walking out.

At a graduation party, he meets Aisha, newly arrived from Calcutta,

set on becoming a writer. He shows her the city and helps her

refurbish a rented flat. He asks if she'd like to progress

from friend to something more; she says no - he lacks

ambition and isn't her type. Will her words, his exam

results, a confrontation with his parents, and a break

with his friends be enough to wake Sid up?

Nivedita sprains her legNivedita Tiwari aka Runjhun of Bhagonwali - Baante

Apni Taqdeer is passing through a tough time after

the maha episode of the show.

While shooting for the maha episode, Nivedita

sprained her leg very badly due to which she has been

on wheelchair for almost six days. After the Maha Epi-

sode, she continued her shoot under heavy medication

and the shots were adjusted with close ups.

After spending some days on wheelchair, Nivedita

was able to stand on her feet for the recent shoot with

some support to her leg.

Nivedita says, "I still have a limp in my leg. I have my

full leg bandaged. After the five to six days horrible

shoot on wheelchair, I am able to stand on my feet with

some support."

It was time for some celebration in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, as it was the wedding

anniversary party of Shyam (Abhaas Mehta) and Anjali (Daljeet Kaur Bhanot).

There was a special performance from the known choreographers of Jhalak Dikhhla

Jaa fame, Hanif Hilal and Nicole Alvares. They performed on the popular number 'Character

Dheela' from the movie Ready.

Hanif said, " I performed in a fiction show for the first time; I always perform in nonfiction

shows and this was an amazing experience. I danced with Nicole and the sequence has

come out very well".

The Episode had some gripping moments with both Shyam (Abhas Mehta) and Khushi

(Sanaya Irani) being at the party. There were many hit and miss sequences between them.

Mukti Mohanin nextEUPHORIA ALBUMTalented dancer Mukti Mohan features

in the much awaited video of Euphoria.

Mukti Mohan, who started her career with

Star Plus' Zara Nachke Dikha, features as the

main female lead in the album along with Palash

Sen.

Mukti Mohan confirms, "I am feeling pleased to

feature in the Album because actors like Vidya

Balan, Rimi Sen started off their career with Eupho-

ria albums. Hence even I am excited and I am looking

forward for the release."

Apart from the music video, Mukti Mohan has com-

pleted the shoot for a song for a Tamil Movie titled

Muran.

GULAAL set to go OFF AIRGulaal is set to go off air soon and will

be replaced by Shashi and Sumit Mittal's

Diya Aur Baati Hum.

Presently the serial is seeing

over the edge drama as the

whole family have come to know

of the truth of Vasant's (Rahil

Azam) murder.

It has been revealed to them that

Dushyant (Sushant Singh) is respon-

sible for his death. But the biggest hit

for them was that Gulaal (Manasi Parekh)

hid the truth in spite of knowing it. Now

that she has been asked to leave the

house, there was some high drama in

store.

In the upcoming episodes Kesar

(Neil Bhatt) confronts the family and

will stand for Gulaal. As Gulaal is now

asked to leave the house, Kesar will

also decide to leave with her. Fol-

lowing this, Talli will help them by

asking them to stay at her old house.

Sapno Se Bhare Naina as the parallel lead.

Puneet enters show as Naina's (Parvati Vaze) cousin. He is a sorted guy

who is very calm by nature. The role might turn grey as the track develops.

Puneet confirmed saying, "Yes, I am essaying a doctor again for

Sapno Se Bhare Naina. It's a pleasure to work as Dr Vihan

because coincidentally my son's name is also Vihan."

special sequence wherein she had to dance

as both Radha and Krishna. But because of

the exhaustion Aasiya fainted on the sets af-

ter which the shoot had to be called off after

Putting to rest all rumours about their alleged tiff

because of Salman Khan's upcoming film

"Bodyguard", actresses Kareena Kapoor and

Katrina Kaif were seen quite elated in each other's

company at the grand finale show of the Lakme

Fashion Week.

It was reported that Kareena was

miffed with Katrina for hogging all the

limelight in her film "Bodyguard" by do-

ing an item number in it. But the two

actresses looked quite compatible and

friendly at the event where Kareena

was the showstopper for designer

Manish Malhotra and Katrina was a

guest.

The comfort level between the two

stars became evident when Katrina

stepped on the ramp at the end of the

show to shake a leg with Kareena and

Manish. Even after the show, the two

were spotted holding hands and en-

joying each other's company.

When asked Kareena whether she

considers Katrina her friend, the 30-

year-old replied: "Of course she is

my friend. Why is this question even

being asked?"

gap for Vikram Bhatt's 3D venture "Dangerous Ishq", will play

a supermodel who gives up her career to marry the man she loves.

In real life, the 37-year-old, mother of two, took a break from

films after tying the knot with Delhi-based businessman Sanjay

Kapoor in 2003 and immersed herself completely in family life.

Bhatt tweeted: "Karisma's character in 'Dangerous Ishq' is a

super model who gives up her career to marry the man she loves.

Her fiance is kidnapped by an enemy who has been chasing her

through many lifetimes...to find out who, she must find out about

her lives," he further posted.

In "Dangerous Ishq", she will be seen opposite model-turned-

actor Rajneish Duggal.

Karisma was one of the most successful actresses in the 1990s

and early 2000 and charmed the audience with hits like "Dil To Pagal

Hai", "Raja Hindustani", "Hero No.1" and "Biwi No.1".

Readers need no introduction to Rishi

Kapoor, the great son of Raj Kapoor. The

esteemed Kapoor family has been serving the

film industry for four generations. I bet nostal-

gia never goes out of fashion. It cannot die.

Nick named as Chintoo, Rishi was born on

4th September 1952 in Bombay and got school-

ing at Champions. He debuted in his Dad's film

Mera Naam Joker in 1970 as a child artist. His

first lead role was in Bobby (1973) in which

Dimple Kapadia was also introduced. The film

became an instant hit.

He married Neetu Singh on 13th April 1979

with whom he had more than half a dozen hit

movies. Their daughter Riddhima is married to

a well-known businessman in New Delhi and

son Ranbir Kapoor is carrying forward the

legacy in Hindi Films.

Remember any of the following evergreen

numbers and Rishi will take you down to your

Memory lane. You will be compelled to roam

around girls' colleges or their hostels hum-

After Salman Khan in "Dabangg" and Ajay

Devgn in "Singham", get ready for John

Abraham's cop film, "Force", in which the star

performs gravity defying stunts without the

protective cables.

"He was very flexible and I didn't use any

cables. This is the first time I did any action

without using any cables. John has done ev-

erything by himself," popular action director

Allan Amin said.

Freida Pinto hasn't yet done a Bollywood movie. That's

perhaps why it is interesting that she had to be handheld

by Michael Winterbottom to do a movie that brings her close

to Bollywood.

The first look of " Trishna", a movie that gives a new spin

to Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles against a con-

temporary Indian backdrop, has been revealed along with an

official teaser that presents Freida and co-star - the British

MC and musician - Riz Ahmed in a completely earthy avatar.

The actor, who was in India, is going to Toronto where

the movie will be screened as a special presentation. Ac-

companying her on this trip is Winterbottom and Anurag

Kashyap.

Meanwhile, Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya

is excited with his Hollywood debut in Winterbottom's movie

that will also see Anurag and Kalki Koechlin make appear-

ances. Did he choreograph Freida keeping in mind the moves

SYDNEY: The Census Multicultural Launch

2011 held at Le Montage, Sydney was a reso-

nating success attended by over 100 media

leaders, community leaders, Consul Generals

from Diplomatic Missions, business leaders as

well as Census officials. It marked the 100

years of Census enumeration in Australia, an

important milestone in Australian history.

Sheba Nandkeolyar, the CEO of Multicall

nity to ask questions to Census officials

Overall, it was an event with a high pro-

file media and invitee list which aimed at col-

laborating an understanding of the Census

among the multicultural media.

Proteins: Essential for growth, develop-

ment and body maintenance. Examples include

nutritional deficiency for infants aged between

6 months and 2 years. Iron is needed to make

red blood cells which carry oxygen around

the body. Babies who are iron deficient tend to

be lethargic or sleepy.

They can also have

lower immunity and are

slower to learn and

physically develop.

baby needs some iron-

rich food every day.

Choose a formula fortified

with iron for infants who

are not breastfed. One of

the first iron-rich food that

should be introduced is iron-

fortified rice cereal.

Foods containing vitamin C help

iron to be absorbed, so try to in-

clude vegetables or fruits (e.g. pu-

reed apple) with these meals.

Calcium: Babies and toddlers need cal-

cium for growing strong bones and healthy

teeth. Milk and dairy products like cheese and

yoghurt are the best sources. If your baby is

allergic to dairy products, your family and child

health nurse or doctor may suggest a soy for-

mula or calcium fortified soy milk. Other source

suitable for babies are green leafy vegetables

and tofu.

Potassium: Needed for muscle contrac-

tion and to regulate blood pressure. It can be

found in vegetables, fruit, grain foods and milk.

Bananas and yoghurt are a good source of

potassium.

John Abraham is for the first time

showing his muscle power and

eight packs in the movie Force

Amrutlal Shah.

star just perfect for any action film,

but the handsome boy of

Bollywood was never seen in a

hard-core action movie after his

villainous act in Dhoom.

He plays an encounter special-

ist. The movie is the remake of the

Tamil film Kakha Kakha and is di-

rected by Nishikant Kamat of

Mumbai Meri Jaan fame.

John says the movie is his first

pan India film after a long gap, and

it is not just the action which is

good in the film, the romance is

also beautiful. The movie's main

lead opposite John is the chirpy

Genelia D'Souza. The first look of

the film reminds many of Salman

Khan's action hit Wanted.

That Girl In Yellow Boots movie

is a thriller tracing Ruth's (Kalki

Koechlin) search for her father - a

man she hardly knew but cannot

Movies demand a change, and Katrina

Kaif is trying to pull all the stops to look

different in every film. Last we saw her

as an adventure-seeking, fun-loving girl in

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and now her song

Dhunki for which she turned a hot rock

chick, is hogging the TV screens.

In the song Dhunki Katrina is shown

singing, and performing on a stage in front

of thousands of people. The actress is

even smoking a bidi which gives her char-

acter a very sexy and tough image.

About her performance, Imran says, "I

think Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is going to be

a very, very relevant film for her; it's going

to be a very big film for her. The way she

has worked on her character and worked

on herself for this film is going to show

people what she is capable of."

Katrina says, "I was familiar with this

kind of comedy genre. I had done Ajab Prem

Ki Ghajab Kahani and I had become com-

fortable with it because of Raj Kumar

Santoshi. But Imran was new to it. Also,

he didn't know me and I didn't know him.

There was a little bit of friction. But once

we got to know each other and found our

understanding, it really helped us in terms

of the characters. There's a certain kind

of chemistry and approach now. It was a

nice first film for us to do together," says

Katrina.

The Bollywood babe seems to have finally

found her comfort zone in the industry, after

all these years. The reserved girl has been

work in this film is head and shoulders above

anything she has done so far. This is for her

detractors and anyone who says that she's

just a pretty face and not really a good actor,"

Imran says. "I genuinely believe that anyone

who feels that way will change their tune af-

ter watching this film. I have seen most of her

films and I think this is her best. I mean, in the

coming years I'm sure she'll do a lot of good

work."

ported as different than char-

acters she's played so far, and

alternatively described as a

"friendly, simple Delhi girl" or a "rebel with a

grungy punk look".

Ali Zafar (no relation to the director) re-

ceived rave reviews for his debut film Tere Bin

Laden. A popular singer, Zafar will also sing in

the film. Interestingly, this marks an Indian film

where none of the three leads are Indian na-

tionals, as Khan is Indian-American, Kaif is Brit-

ish of partly Indian descent and Zafar is Paki-

stani. The film additionally stars a new actress

whose name hasn't been revealed yet.


Genius and optimismof the poor

I Am Kalam, which revolves around

seemingly impossible dreams of an 11

year old, is an emotional experience.

Chhotu (Harsh Mayar) comes from a

really poor family and works at his uncle

Bhati's (Gulshan Grover) dhaba. At the

outset, the story appears simple enough.

But as it unfolds, deeper layers unfurl in

the most magical way. Chhotu befriends

Kuwar Ranvijay Singh (Hussan Saad).

The rich prince suffers from loneliness

until he meets Chhotu (flashing his trade-

mark confident toothy grin) teaches him

a few lessons, some obvious and some

more subtle.

While Chhotu's bullying and insecure

colleague at the dhaba, Laptan (Pitobash)

Suspense thriller on reincarnation

Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. This line sums

up the plotline of Phhir, a suspense thriller focusing on reincarna-

tion. With all the trappings that make a riveting thriller, Phhir runs out of

breath before it reaches the winning post.

Director Girish Dhamija, who had made an engrossing thriller in

Yakeen earlier, has an interesting plot and he's shot the film very well

too. In fact, you get sucked into the world of the principal characters at

the outset and Dhamija succeeds in making you curious and inquisitive

with each passing incident. But Dhamija blows up everything towards

the finale when the suspense unfolds.

Kabir [Rajneesh Duggal], a doctor, marries Sia [Roshni Chopra]. A

budding career and a seemingly happy marriage - what more could a

man ask for? One day, Sia disappears without a word. Disha [Adah

Sharma] helps Kabir with clues that take him closer to unravel the

mystery of his missing wife. What does Disha see?

The stunning locales of New

Castle (UK) are the perfect set-

ting for the film; they enhance

the eerie quotient. The movie

has speed, emotions and drama.

Notwithstanding the uneven end,

Dhamija builds the suspense well

and has handled a number of

sequences with exper-

tise.

is a die-hard fan of Amitabh Bachchan, Chhotu has bigger aspira-

tions. The kid is so inspired by former Indian President APJ Kalam that

he confidently rechristens himself Kalam, thus explaining the title of

the movie.

Nila Madhab Panda makes a confident directorial debut. This film is

the right combination of sparkling intelligence and well-placed emo-

tions. For millions of child labourers across the country, there couldn't

have been better representation of them than Chhotu, with his genius

and undying optimism. The best thing about this movie is that it is

happy, despite the grim reality of life it por-

trays. The positivity somehow manages

to touch a chord. While Harsh Mayar

steals your heart right away (the Na-

tional Award was so well deserved),

it's the other child Hussan Saad who

also impresses with his clear diction and

natural performance. Gulshan Grover

as a kind man, who has a secret crush

on a French woman Lucy (Beatrice

Ordeix), is very good as usual.

Pitobash does a very good job too.

I Am Kalam stands for what

Chhotu firmly believes in.

Is a Bollywood-Hindi movie on your ra-dar?

Of course, I would love to do a film in India

but that's if you don't consider Slumdog Mil-

lionaire and Trishna to be Indian films. I think of

those two as Indian films all the way - we had

Indian actors, a majority of Indian crew and

most importantly, those were shot in India, fo-

cussing on an Indian story. I couldn't have pos-

sibly used more of the word "Indian" in one

sentence if I didn't believe in the truth of it. I

think the media has often misunderstood my

stand on films in India. I have always said that

doing mainstream films won't necessarily be

the right route for me as my interest lies more

in the independent cinema of India. There are

more than a handful of amazing directors to-

day excelling in these kind of films. Indian films

were never off my radar. I am just waiting.

How does one go about bagging a role inHollywood? Can you share the process?

A lot is audition or reading-based and in my

opinion, it's a very normal way of earning a

job. You pitch your performance and then the

director sees it and visualises you in that char-

acter. If he thinks you can deliver, then you are

on. Agents play an important role in finding

scripts but that doesn't stop an actor from do-

ing his or her own research and looking around

as well.

You have talked about Dev's flirtingOh yes! It can be revealed now. Dev Patel

constantly flirted with other women on the sets

of Slumdog Millionaire. He has this typical Brit-

ish sense of humour, both funny, and sexual.

He would flirt with everyone on the set. Not in

a bad way, he'd just go up to women and say,

`You're looking very sexy today'. And they'd

be happy. Here was this boy, trying to be a

man. He was just a bundle of joy.

We didn't confide in each other about our

feelings initially. We never knew something

was going on until we actually sat down and

said, 'What is happening here? Is this normal?'

Divya Dutta was once engaged to

Lt. Commander Sandeep at her home-

town, Chandigarh, in 2005. According

to Divya, it was her parents' choice that

TANDOORI CHICKENChicken marinated in yoghurt andspices and slow cooked in a hotclay oven or an electric oven.

INGREDIENTS

• Chicken, whole 800 grams

• Kashmiri red chilli powder 2 teaspoons

• Lemon juice 3 tablespoons

• Salt to taste

• Yogurt 1 cup

• Ginger paste 2 tablespoons

• Garlic paste 2 tablespoons

• Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

• Mustard oil 2 tablespoons

• Butter to taste

• Chaat masala 1/2 teaspoon

• Onion , cut into rings as required

• Lemon, cut into wedges as required

INGREDIENTS

• Potatoes 4

• Carrots 100gm

• Paneer 100gm

• Cauliflower 100gm

• Bread 3 pieces

• Salt (to taste)

• Red Chilli

• Dry Mango Powder

• Garam Masala

METHOD1) Boil carrots, and cauliflower together

2) Boil potatoes but separately from the

other vegetables

3) Let the vegetables and potatoes cool

after boiling

4) Mash paneer and the boiled vegetables

and potatoes together in a bowl

5) Mash 3 pieces of bread in a grinder and

mix it with the contents in the bowl above

6) Add Garam Masala, Red Chili, Mango

Powder and salt to the mixture

7) After mix-

ing thor-

oughly, make

small balls

and deep fry

them till golden

brown

8) Serve hot

with tomato

ketchup

METHODMake incisions with a sharp knife

on the chicken breast, legs and thighs.

Apply a mixture one teaspoon Kashmiri red chilli

powder, one tablespoon lemon juice and salt

over the chicken and set aside for half an hour.

For the marinade, tie up yogurt in a piece of

muslin and hang over a bowl for fifteen to

twenty minutes. Remove the thick yogurt into

another bowl. Add the remaining Kashmiri red

chilli powder, salt, ginger paste, garlic paste,

remaining lemon juice, garam masala powder

and mustard oil. Rub this mixture over the

chicken and marinate for three to four hours in

a refrigerator. Skew the chicken onto a skewer

and cook in a moderately hot tandoor (clay

oven) or in a preheated oven at 200�C/400�F/

Gas Mark 6 for ten to twelve minutes, or until

almost done. Baste chicken with a little butter

and cook for another four minutes. Remove

and set aside. Sprinkle chaat masala powder

and serve with onion rings and lemon wedges.

Yoga is arecentaddition to myworkout, as itrejuvenates mymind

I do weight training four times a week

to tone my body. I have a personal

trainer. Eating right and healthy is a very

important part of my wellness routine.

Yoga is a recent addition to my work-

out, as it rejuvenates my mind, and gives

my skin that inner glow. Now Yoga is

seven days a week as I can't live with-

out it. Sufficient rest is also important

for the body to recuperate.

I am a non-vegetarian but I prefer

eating vegetarian food and like only cer-

tain dishes in non-vegetarian. In veg-

etarian food, I like eating parathas and

veggies.

I don't have a sweet tooth. I don't

even like chocolates. Coffee also

doesn't go down well with me.

The first thing I have is a glass

of water followed by a cup of tea.

Breakfast comprises egg and a

glass of fresh juice. I sip on lemon juice

or coconut water.

For lunch I have dal, roti, sabzi. Dal

is a must. My favourite is wholegrain

dal. When I eat food from home, I feel

lighter so I carry lunch. My dabba usu-

ally contains roti, salad and dahi.

My favourite guilty indulgence is my

mom's momos and butter chicken.

I always have such a stressful

schedule that I really appreciate the

simple, relaxed things in life, like gos-

siping with my mom while she gives me

a nice head massage, or lunching with

my girlfriends.

Last thing I do before tucking in is

wash my face and a champi with coco-

nut oil.
