KONGO ZENThe ancient tradition that concerns "Nature" and "the nature ofhuman beings" is 'Kongo Zen'. Kongo Zen is the path which has aspecific purpose; to forge an indestructible spirit body (DiamondBody).

This Yoga refers to the developmentof a subtle perception of the body inwhich its currents and networks ofenergy are recognized and can beutilized in diagnosis and treatment.
One of Bodhidharma's reasons forteaching this Yoga is clearly toencourage the monks to becomeaware of the physical condition oftheir bodies in such a way that theywould no longer mistreat them.

Tai TechniquesStep 1. Conservation of Essence. The vital fluidof procreation.
Step 2. Restoration of Essence. Through properdiet and nutrition that is energy enhancing.
Step 3. Transmutation of essence.Accomplished by sound vibrations contained inthe breath.
Chi TechniquesStep 4. Nourishing energy. Accomplished byaudio and visual techniques.
Step 5. Transmutation of energy. Accomplishedby Shugyo.
Shin TechniquesStep 6. Nourishing the Spirit. Accomplished byChinkon Gyo.
Step 7. Transmutation of Spirit. Accomplishedby Za-Zen.
Step 8. Transmutation of pure cosmic Spirit intoVoid. The moment of Awakening.

"San Tei" is the term used todescribe the above 3 paths of theJourney. They are sequenced asabove in direct relation to theadvancing practitioner on the path.
These disciplines were widely usedby Buddhist & Taoist practitionersand in time, they formed the basisfor the techniques of the martialarts which spread throughoutChina.
BODHI DHARMA
Approximately 1500 years ago the Indian monk,Bodhidharma, left his native land Kanchi, torevive the proper teachings of Buddha in China.
SHAOLIN TEMPLE
He is well known in Asia for his introduction ofza-zen meditation to China. Along with Zazenhe also taught Ekkingyo during his stay at theSuzan Shorinji (Shaolin Temple) in what is nowknown as Hunan province.
DOSHIN SOKaiso Doshin So, took the various martial
techniques which were practiced in single
forms and the philosophical teachings of
Buddha and Bodhidharma which he
learned in China and organized them into a
single system. This complete system of
Spiritual Martial Training is called:Santei Sanpo Nijugo Kei.
KONGO ZEN
To signify the establishment of a revitalized spiritual martial art, he turned to theSuzan Shorinji and its long history of training great scholars and great leaders, of whichhe himself was the 21st successor. The name "Shorinji Kempo" was originated byKaiso, and it has no precedent in China, ancient or modern.
