1 Introduction

We,theemployeesofKonami,attheGamingandSystemsDivision,NorthAmericanHeadquarters–KGILV,inanefforttoconveyour sensitivitytotheenvironmentalchangesthatourplanetisexperiencingandtoreaffirmourcommitmenttoourclients,familiesandour ownwellbeing,havedevelopedthefollowingsustainabilitypoliciesasapledgetolimit,reduceoreliminateanynegativeecological impactsthatwemaycreateinthecourseofconductingbusiness.

2 ChemicalDistributionandStoragePolicy

2.1 Intent:

ThegoaloftheChemicalDistributionandStoragePolicyistominimizetheexposureofemployeestohazardousmaterials.KGILV helpsprotectthehealthandsafetyoftheoccupants,thefacility’sairquality,andtheenvironmentthroughincreasedawarenessof chemicaldistributionandstorageatthefacility.

2.2 Procedure:

2.2.1 ChemicalDistribution

Thedistributionofchemicalsisrestrictedtodesignateddistributionpointsatthefacility.Thesepointsincludecustodialclosetsandthe facility’smaintenancestorageroom.

Chemicaldistributionactivitiesareconductedbymaintenance,housekeepingpersonnelandproductionsupervisors.

• Unpackagedandhandcarriedchemicalsareplacedinacontainer,cartonorbucket • Personnelkeeptransportedcontainersofchemicalsclosed • Personneltransportquantitiesofchemicalutilizingacartwithaliporrailingtopreventaccidentaltipping

2.2.2 ChemicalStorage

Chemicalsarestoredinanappropriatecontainerwithappropriatelabeling.Maintenancestaffand productionsupervisorsareresponsibleforensuringthatthisguidelineismet.Anyexceptionsare reportedtotheMaintenanceManagerandProductionManager.

Chemicalsarestoredbyhazardclassification(e.g.oxidizer,combustible,corrosive,unstable,water reactive,etc.)Todeterminethechemical’shazardclassthestaffchecksthelabel,theMaterial

SafetyDataSheets(MSDS),theNationalFireProtectionAssociation(NFPA)1,ortheNational

InstituteforOccupationalSafetyandHealth(NIOSH)2guidesonhazardousmaterials.

• Allchemicalsarestoredbycompatibilitygroup.Incompatiblechemicalswillbeseparated

• Storedchemicalsareexaminedperiodically(annually)fordeterioration,expiration,replacementandcontainerintegrity

• Allchemicalsarestoredincontainersingoodrepairandremainproperlylabeledatalltimes.Thelabelincludesthechemical name,hazardclassification,manufacturerinformation,andtheWorkplaceHazardousMaterialsInformationSystem(WHMIS) supplierlabel

• Chemicalsareusuallystoredonshelvesnohigherthaneyelevel(approximately60”)

• AllflammableorcombustiblechemicalsarestoredinproperlyNFPAapprovedflammablestoragecabinets.Suchstorage cabinetsarelabeled“FLAMMABLE”.Flammableandcombustiblechemicalsareisolatedfromoxidizers

• Chemicalsarenotroutinelystoredinworkareas.Generally,onlytheamountsneededarekeptintheworkareaandthe remainderofthematerialarekeptinthefacility’sapprovedstoragelocations

• Chemicalsareneverrandomlystoredonthefloor,unlessthestoragefacilityisproperlydesigned(spillcontrol,fire protection,imperviousfloor,aislespacing,marking/labeling,etc)andclearlydesignated

• Chemicalsthatarenolongerusedareperiodicallypurgedfromthesitetominimizerisksassociatedwithsuchstorage.

• Chemicalsareneverstoredwith,oradjacentto,food,includinginornearrefrigeratorsusedforfood

3 EntrywaySystemsCleaningandMaintenancePolicy

3.1 Intent

KGILViscommittedtoreducingdirt,dust,water,snowandotherparticlesenteringthefacilityatallentryways.

3.2 CleaningandMaintaining

Thecustodialpersonnelvacuumeachentrywaysystemseverynight.Inaddition,frontentrancematsaresteamcleanedatleastevery

monthandoftenmorefrequentlyonan“asneeded”basis.

3.3 EntryMaterialSelection

Entrywaysystemsmaterialshavethefollowingperformancefeatures:

• Musthavelowelectrostaticpropensitylevelsoflessthan2.5KV

• Rubberbacking

3.4 Implementation

TheFacilitiesandSecurityAdministratorensuresthatallrequestforpurchasesmeettheperformancespecificationspriorto submissiontosourcing.

Buildingmaintenanceinspectsexteriorwalkwaysleadingtothebuildingentrancesonadailybasisandcleanasrequired.

4 LowEnvironmentalImpactCleaningPolicy

4.1 Intent:

KGILViscommittedtoreducingtheexposureofbuildingoccupantstopotentiallyhazardouschemical,biologicalandparticle contaminants,whichadverselyimpactairquality,health,buildingfinishes,buildingsystems,andtheenvironment.

4.2 Implementation:

ItisKGILV’spolicyatthefacility,toemploycleaningandmaintenancepersonnelwhomeettheperformancerequirementstosustain lowenvironmentalimpactcleaning.

Allcleaningstaffandthirdpartyvendorsreceivedocumentedtraininginchemicalandcleanerdispensing,anddilutionequipment.

Allstaffandthirdpartyvendorsarerequiredtouseonlysustainablecleaningproducts,includinghandcleanersthatdonotcontain antimicrobialagents(otherthanasapreservative),exceptwhererequiredbyhealthcodesandotherregulations(i.e.foodservicesand

healthcarerequirements).CleaningproductsaretobeGreenSeal373ifapplicable.

Allmaterialsrequiringmixingaretobemixedintheequipmentsuppliedbythemanufacturer,ensuringproperdilutionspecifications.

NewandreplacementflooringistobeevaluatedbytheFacilities&SecurityAdministratorforitspotentiallongtermenvironmental impactsincluding:

• Potentialdamageofrawmaterialextraction • Maintenancerequirements • Overallusefullife • Hygiene(hypoallergenic) • Appearance • Safety • Impactofeventualdisposal(recyclable)

4.3 Tracking:

KGILVandcontractorsmaintainrecordsconcerningstafftraining,floormaintenance,andchemicalsandproductsusedandstoredon theproperty.

CleaningpersonnelprovidequarterlyfloormaintenancereportstotheFacilities&SecurityAdministrator,whichincludes:

KGILV’smaintenancestaffandjanitorialservicesuppliersarerequiredtouseonlythefollowing:

• BulletinsLowlevelVolatileOrganicCompounds(VOC)inallchemicalsandcleaningproducts • Handcleanersthatcontainnoantimicrobialagents(otherthanasapreservative),exceptwhererequiredbyhealthcodesand otherregulations(i.e.foodservicesandhealthcarerequirements)

5 LowEnvironmentalImpactCleaningEquipmentPolicy

5.1 Intent:

KGILViscommittedtoreducingtheexposureofitsfacility’soccupantstopotentiallyhazardouschemical,biologicalandparticle contaminantsthroughtheuseofproperandefficientjanitorialequipmentthatminimizesbuildingcontaminantsandtheirenvironmental impact.

5.2 Implementation:

AtKGILVfacility,allpurchasesofjanitorialequipmentarethoroughlyresearchedbyoutsidevendors,toensuretherequirementslisted belowaremet.

5.3 Requirements:

• VacuumcleanersmeettherequirementsoftheCarpetandRugInstitute“Greenlabel”TestingProgram4–VacuumCleaner Criteriaandbecapableofcapturing96%ofparticulates0.3micronsinsizeandoperatewithasoundlevellessthan 70decibels.

• Hotwaterextractionequipmentfordeepcleaningcarpetsiscapableofremovingsufficientmoisturetoallowthecarpetsto drywithin24hours.

• Poweredmaintenanceequipmentincludingfloorbuffers,burnishesandautomaticscrubbersisequippedwithvacuums, guardsand/orotherdevicesforcapturingfineparticulates,andoperateswithasoundlevellessthan70dBA.

• Automatedscrubbingmachinesareequippedwithvariablespeedfeedpumpstooptimizetheuseofcleaningfluids.

• Activemicrofibertechnologyisimplementedwherefeasible,toreducecleaningchemicalconsumptionandprolonglifeof disposablescrubbingpads.

• Allpowerequipmentisergonomicallydesignedtoreduceuserfatigue.

• Allequipmentisequippedwithrubberbumperpadstoreducebuildingdamage.

5.3.1 Tracking:

KGILV’scleaningcontractorsmaintainlogsofallcleaningequipment.Thelogscontainthefollowinginformation:

5.3.2 Responsibility:

ItistheFacilitiesandSecurityAdministrator’sresponsibilitytoensurethelogisupdated.

6 NoSmokingPolicy

6.1 Intent

ItisthegoalofKGILVtopromoteasmokefreeandhealthyworkingenvironment.Itensuresthatnoemployeeisexposedtosecond handsmokeandreducestheriskoffire.

6.2 GuidingPrinciples

• TopromotethewellbeingandhealthofKGILV’semployees • Tocommunicateapositiveandresponsiblecorporateimage • Todemonstratethatthehealthandsafetyofemployeesisparamount

6.3 Directives

• Thesmokingofanysubstancesandproductsincludingbutnotlimitedtotobaccowhileinsidethebuildingisprohibited. • Anysmokingoutsideofthebuildingmustbedoneatdesignatedsites.

6.3.1 Communication

• Itisacompanypolicythatwearea“non-smokingcompany” • Alljobadvertisements,jobdescriptionsandjobofferlettersmakereferencetothispolicy • Referencetothispolicyisincludedinthehiringpaperworkfornewemployees

6.3.2 Enforcement

7 SustainablePurchasingPolicy

7.1 Intent

KGILVisdedicatedtothefollowingbestpracticesinsustainablepurchasing.Thecompany’sintentionistoreducewasteandlessen harmfulenvironmentalimpacts.KGILV’sgoalistoprovideahealthyenvironmenttoallofitsemployeesandpreventthem fromexposuretoharmfulchemicals.

7.2 Procedure:

7.2.1 AdhesivesandSealants

AllsealantsoradhesivesmusthaveVolatileOrganicCompound(VOC)contentlessthanthecurrentVOCcontentlimitsofCalifornia’s

SouthCoastAirQualityManagementDistrictRule#11685.

7.2.3 Carpet

AnycarpetprocuredforthefacilityshouldfollowrecommendedbestpracticeswhichcomplywiththerequirementsoftheCarpet&

RugInstitute(CRI)GreenLabelPlusTestingProgram7.Carpettilesarepreferredformaintenanceandeaseofinstallation.

7.2.4 CarpetCushion

AnycarpetcushionprocuredshouldfollowrecommendedbestpracticeswhichcomplywiththerequirementsoftheCRIGreenLabel TestingProgram.

7.2.5 CompositePanelsandAgrifiberProducts

AnycompositepanelsandAgrifiberproductspurchasedshallnotcontainaddedureaformaldehyderesins.

7.3 PurchasingofAlternativeMaterials

ThefollowingguidelineswillbefollowedbyKGILVtoreducetheenvironmentalimpactsofthematerialspurchasedfortheoperation andmaintenanceofthedistributionfacility.Materialsmeetinganyofthefollowingcriteriawillbegivenpriorityconsideration whenpossibleandwithinreason:

• Containsareleast70%salvagedmaterialfromoffsiteoroutsidetheorganization • Containsatleast70%salvagedmaterialfromonsitethroughaninternalorganizationmaterialsandequipmentreuseprogram • Containsatleast10%postconsumeror20%postindustrialmaterial • Containsatleast50%rapidlyrenewablematerials • IsForestStewardshipCouncil(FSC)8certifiedwood • Containsatleast50%harvestedandprocessedorextractedandprocessedwithin500milesoftheproject

7.4 SustainableCleaningProductsandMaterialsPurchasingPolicy

KGILVandcontractorspurchasecleaningproducts,disposablejanitorialpaperproducts,andtrashbagswhichreducethe environmentalimpact.ThedisposablejanitorialpaperproductsandtrashbagscomplieswiththeEPAComprehensiveProcurement Guidelines9.Exceptionstothesepoliciesmayincludespecialcircumstanceswherethespecifiedproductsare unabletosatisfythecriticalneeds.AlloutsidevendorsorcontractorsareaskedtouseEPAComprehensiveProcurementGuidelines, GreenSealGS37cleaningproductsorproductsthatcomplywiththeCaliforniaCodeofRegulations10maximumallowableVOClevels.

7.5 FluorescentLampPurchasingPolicy

KGILViscommittedtomaintainingareducedmercurycontentofthelightbulbsacquiredforuseinthefacilitytolessthan80 picogramsperlumenhour,onaverage.KGILVwillreviewtheneedforlamppurchasesannuallyanddevelopthespecificationsto meettheholisticapproachtolightingasitpertainstolightingquality,energy,andmercurycontent.Allfluorescentlampsare purchasedonanasneededbasis.Quarterlyreportstrackprogressontheholisticlightingprogramanddentifyanybarriersto meetingthemercurycontentobjective.

8 SustainableSitesGuidelines

Standardsareprovidedinseveralofthesectionsbelowdescribingtherecommendedgeneralsustainablesitespractices.Ineach section,additionalbestpracticesarelisted.Itisrecommendedthatthebestpracticesbeemployedovertimetoupholdthemissionof KGILVtohaveamaintainableandoperationallycosteffectivefacility.

8.1 Intent:

ThegoalofKGILVistoimpactthesiteofthefacilityaslittleaspossible.Reduceddisturbancethroughconsciouseffortsand managementhelpslessentheenvironmentalimpactandmaintainthehealthofouremployees.

8.2 Implementation:

8.2.1 MaintenanceEquipment

8.2.1.1 StandardPractices

KGILV’sownedandoperatedsitemaintenanceequipment,aswellas,equipmentoperatedbyallvendorsperformingtasksinside andonthebuilding’senvelopeisregularlymaintained.Thisincludescheckingequipmentbeforeeachusefordamage,oillevelsand safetymeasures,aswellas,observingaregularlyscheduledmaintenanceprogram.Safetyguidelinesaretobeobservedincluding, butnotlimitedto,theuseofsafetyglasses,hearingprotection,andprotectiveglovesasappropriate.

8.2.2 LandscapeWaste


Minimizethequantityofgreenwastetakentothelandfillbyusingmulchingmowersand/orutilizegreenwastehaulerstoremovegreen wasteandrecycleitforreuse.

8.2.3 SnowRemoval


Icemeltisusedonmainwalkwaysandstairsonlywhenthereisiceandonanasneededbasis.

8.2.3.2 BestPractices

• Usepotassiumchlorideormagnesiumchlorideicemeltingproductsinsteadofsodiumchlorideorcalciumchloride.

8.2.4 CleaningofBuildingExterior


Avinegarandwatermixtureoramildsoapandwatermixtureisusedtocleantheexteriorofthebuildingwindowsonamonthlybasis. Nochemicalsorsolutionsareusedtocleanthebuildingexterior.Whencleaningofthebuildingexteriorisrequired,powerwashisthe preferredmethod.Ifgraffitihasbeenappliedtothebuilding,anappropriatechemicalwillbeappliedtoremovethegraffiti.

8.2.5 PaintsandSealantsUsedonBuildingExterior


Whenpaintsorsealantsarenecessaryforthebuilding’smaintenancetheseguidelinesarefollowed:

• AlladhesivesandsealantsusedontheexteriorofthebuildingmusthaveaVolatileOrganicCompound(VOC)emissions contentthatdoesnotexceedtheCaliforniaSouthCoastAirQualityManagementDistrict

• AllpaintsandcoatingusedontheexteriorofthebuildingmusthaveVOCemissionsthatdonotexceedtheVOCandchemical

componentlimitsofGreenSeal’sStandardGS1111requirements

8.2.6 Plantings


• Usenativeoradaptedplants • Useplantswithnoorminimalwateringrequirements • Useplantsthathaveminimalmaintenancerequirements • Userecycledsoilamendmentsandbarkmulches • Considerusingrocks,sand,andplantsadaptedtoverydryconditionsinsmallersteep,ordifficulttomaintainareaswhere viewingtrafficishigh • Useplantstoreduceheatingandcoolingneeds

9 WasteReductionandRecyclingPolicy

9.1 Intent:

Thegoalofthefacility’srecyclingpolicyistomanagethewasteremovalwithanemphasisonwastereduction,reuse,andrecycling. KGILViscommittedtodivertingatleast50%ofthetotalwastestreamfromlandfillsbymeansofsourcereduction,resourcereuse,and recyclingatitsfacility.Inaddition,KGILViscommittedtorecycling100%ofallbatteriesandfluorescentlightbulbs.

AtKGILV,everyeffortismadeforwastediversion.Throughoutthefacility,therearebinsforrecyclingwiththeappropriatesignageon whatmaterialsmayberecycled.Notificationisregularlysenttoemployeesaskingfortheircooperationwithrecyclingandan explanationastowhytheserecyclingeffortshavebeenimplemented.

9.2 Implementation:

KGILViscontinuallymakingstridestoimprovesourcereduction.Beforepurchasingmaterial,equipmentandservices,thefacility’s procurementpersonnelwillconsider:

• Isthepackagingdesignedtobeminimal? • Istheproductenergyefficient? • Istheproductsize/magnitudenecessary? • Istheproductreallyneeded? • Istheproductdesignedforeasymaintenanceandrepair? • Areallthefeaturesoftheproductnecessary? • Cananyfeaturesbeeliminated? • Wastheproductproducedlocally? • Howfardidittravel? KGILValsoconsidersthatspecificationsofmaterialswhichrequire“newmaterialsonly”shouldincludethemaximumrecycledcontent (especiallypostconsumer)andsalvagedmaterialswherepractical.

KGILVusesrecyclablematerialswhereverpossibleandapplicableandavoidsmaterialsforwhichnorecyclingfacilitiesorcollection systemsexistforthoseproductsendofusefullife.Therecyclingprocess,however,shouldprovideanetenvironmentalbenefitand shouldminimizeadverseenvironmentaleffects.

Batteriesarerecycledthroughvendorswheneverpossible.

9.3.1 OccupantRecycling

Allemployeesareencouragedtorecyclethefollowing:

• Paper • CorrugatedCardboard • Plastic • Metal • Batteries

9.3.2 Tracking&Reporting:

Materialscollectedintherecyclingcontainersarepickedupanddepositedinlargerecyclingbinprovidedbyalocalrecycling contractor.Subsequently,thecontractortransportsthematerialtoasortingfacilitywhereitisprocessed.Thecontractorprovidesa detailedlistofthematerialweightthatwasrecycledorsenttoalandfillandreportonaquarterlybasistothefacilitymanager.

Thesematerialsaregenerallyincluded:

• Corrugatedcardboard • Paper • Metals • Plastic

9.4 ConstructionandDemolitionWaste

10 ConstructionIndoorAirQualityManagementGuidelines

10.1 Intent:

ThefollowingguidelinesapplytoanyKonamiprojectasanadditionto;orinadditiontotheKGILVfacility.Foranyconstructionwork, itisrecommendedthataConstructionIndoorAirQuality(IAQ)Planisdeveloped.Thefollowingguidelineshavebeen developedtoprotectthehealthoftheconstructionworkersandtheoccupantsofthefacilitybyemployingbestpracticestoenhance IAQduringandafterconstruction.ThefollowingguidelineshavebeendevelopedtomeettherecommendedControlMeasures oftheSheetMetalandAirConditionContractorsNationalAssociation(SMACNA)IAQGuidelinesforOccupiedBuildingsunder Construction.

10.2 Procedures:

10.2.1 IndoorAirQualityPlan

ListedbelowareminimumstandardsandbestpracticesforIAQforbuildingconstructionprojects.Thepracticesareorganizedinthe majorcategoriesaspresentedintheSMACNAguidelines.ItisadvisedthatthedevelopedConstructionIndoorAirQuality (IAQ)Planbewritteninparallelformattothesectionsbelow.ThebestpracticeslistedprovideanarrayofIAQpracticesthatmaybe applicabletoaconstructionproject.ItisrecommendedthataConstructionIAQManagementPlanbedevelopedby usingtheminimumstandardsandapplyingthebestpracticesthatmostappropriatelyconcern theconstructionprojectathand.WhenevaluatingthebestconstructionIAQpracticestoincorporateintotheConstructionIAQ managementplanassesstheprosandconsofeachpracticetobestdeterminetheappropriateactionsforthecurrentproject.

10.2.2 HVACProtection

• Whenthesystemmustremainoperationalduringconstruction,usetemporaryfilters.FiltersshouldbeaMinimumEfficiency ReportingValue(MERV)of8orequivalentefficiencyandbeusedateachreturnairgrillasdeterminedbyASHRAE52.21999

• Whenthesystemisoffallsupplyducts,equipment,andopeningsshouldbesealedwithplasticforfurtherprotection

10.2.2.1RecommendedBestPractices

• Ifpossible,avoidusingpermanentlyinstalledairhandlersfortemporaryheatingandcoolingduringconstruction –particularlyduringdemolition

• Ifanunductedplenumovertheconstructionzonemustbeused,isolateitbyhavingallceilingtilesinplace

• Checkandsealallleaksinthereturnductsandairhandlers

• Thesystemshouldbeisolatedfromthesurroundingenvironmentasmuchaspossible

• Donotstoreconstructionorwastematerialsinthemechanicalroom

• Ifconsiderableaccumulationofparticlescanbeobservedunderdiffusersorifventilationisrestricted,considerationshould begiventocleaningtheductsandassociatedequipment.Thisdecisionshouldbebasedonadetailedvisualinspectionofthe system

10.2.3 SourceControl

• Whenfeasibleuselowemittingproducts.Thematerialsthatneedtobeconsideredforlowemissionsareasfollowswiththe associatedstandard:

10.2.4 PathwayInterruption


• DepressurizetheworkareabyadjustingthebalanceoftheHVACandexhaustsystemsorinstallingportableexhaustfans.A generalruleofthumbistoexhaustthespaceatarateof10%greaterthantherateofsupply.Theexhaustedairmay ormaynotneedtobefiltered,dependingonthenatureofthematerials,locationoftheexhaustandanyapplicable regulations

• Ifareasofthebuildingareoccupiedduringconstruction,increasesupplyairandreducingreturnandexhaustairinthearea

• Erectbarrierstocontaintheconstructionarea.Thiscanrangefromdustcurtainstoaplasticsealaroundthesite.Thebarrier shouldbebasedonthematerialsinvolvedandtheimplicationsofthedustorodorescapingfromthesite

• Locatepollutionsourcestofavorablelocationsinregardstoairquality

• Dependingontheweatherconditions,ventilateusing100%outsideairtoexhaustcontaminatedairdirectlytotheoutside duringinstallationofVOCemittingmaterials

10.2.5 Housekeeping


• Controldustwithwettingagentsorsweepingcompoundsanduseefficientdustcollectionmethods

• Increasethecleaningfrequencyfordust

• Porousbuildingmaterialsshouldbeprotectedfromexposuretomoistureandstoredinacleanareapriortoinstallation

• Keepallsurfacesclean(includinghigherledgesandinsidemechanicalequipment)

• Removespillsorexcessiveapplicationsofsolventcontainingproductsassoonaspossible

• Keepsiteasdryaspossibleandremoveaccumulatedwater

• UseaHEPAfilterinvacuumstopreventtheaerolizationofsettleddust

10.2.6 Scheduling

• Sequencetheinstallationofmaterialstoavoidcontaminationofabsorptivematerialssuchasinsulation,carpeting,and ceilingtileandgypsumwallboard.Protectstoredonsiteorinstalledabsorptivematerialsfrommoisturedamage


• Whenworkinginanoccupiedbuilding,scheduletoensurethatconstructionactivityandbuildingoccupancydonotoverlap

• Uponcompletionofconstruction,replaceallfiltrationmediaimmediatelypriortooccupancy

• Whenusingmaterialswithahighpollutionpotentialconsiderschedulingtheirinstallationduringoffhourstoallowtimefor thematerialstoairout

10.2.6.2PostConstruction

• Afterconstructionendsabaselineindoorairqualitytestingprocedurefortheaffectedspaceinthebuildingshouldbe conducted.

11 ConstructionWasteManagementPolicy

11.1 Intent:

ThefollowingpolicywillassistKGILV’sfacilityin:

• Identifying,reusing,salvaging,andrecyclingofjobsitewaste • Recyclingandwastemanagementgoals • DevelopingaConstructionWasteManagementPlan • SubmittingaConstructionWasteManagementReport

ItisrecommendedthatKGILV’sarchitect(s)and/orconstructioncontractorsincorporatethewastemanagementpolicyintheproject’s documentsandspecifications.

11.2 Procedure:

11.2.1 EnvironmentalConsiderations

Itisrecommendedthatconstructionprojectsminimizethecreationofconstruction,deconstruction,anddemolitionwastetoprotect andrestorenaturalhabitatandresources.Factorsthatcontributetowastesuchasoverpackaging,improperstorage,orderingerrors, poorplanning,breakage,mishandling,andcontamination,shallbeminimized.Awastemanagementplanshallbedevelopedtoensure thatexistingsiteandbuildingmaterialsarereused,salvaged,orrecycled.Wastedisposalinlandfillsshallbeminimized.

11.2.2 ConstructionandDemolitionWaste

Itisrecommendedthatallconstructionwasteincludingdemolitionwasteandlandclearingwaste(ifapplicable)bequalifiedby typeofmaterialandweight.Additionally,atleast50%shouldberecycledand/orsalvaged.Allconstructiondebrisshallberemovedoff sitebyprofessionalwastemanagementfirmsforrecycling.

Thefollowingwastecategories,whereappropriate,shallbedivertedfromlandfill:

• Woodandgreenmaterials(treetrimmings) • Cleandimensionalwood,palettes • Plywood,orientedstrandboard(OSB),andparticleboard • Concrete • Bricks • ConcreteMasonryUnits(CMU) • Asphaltedconcrete • Cardboard,paper,packaging,newsprint • Cementfiberproducts • Roofingproducts • Metals • Gypsumdrywallunpainted • Paintandpaintcans • Rigidfoam • Glass • Plastics • Carpetandcushion • Insulation • Ceilinggridandtiles • Lightfixtures,includingproperdisposalofanytransformers,ballasts,andfluorescentlightbulbs • DuctworkandHVACequipment • Wiringandelectricalequipment • Hardware • Othersasappropriate

Ifanywastematerialsencounteredduringthedeconstruction/demolitionorconstructionphasearefoundtocontainlead,asbestos, polychlorinatedbiphenyls(PCBs,suchasfluorescentlampballasts),orotherhazardoussubstances,theyaretobehandledand removedinaccordancewithlocal,state,andfederallawsandrequirementsconcerninghazardouswaste.Thesematerials areexcludedfromtheconstructionwastestream.Salvageandreuseanymaterial,furnitureandequipmentidentifiedasusable.

11.2.3 CreatingtheConstructionWasteManagementPlan

Atanacceptableperiodpriortothescheduledpreconstructionmeeting,thecontractorshallsubmitadraftwastemanagementplanfor mixeddebrisrecyclingtotheprojectmanagerforapproval.

Theplanshallinclude(butnotbelimitedto)thefollowing:

• Listoftherecyclingfacilities,reusefacilities,municipalsolidwastelandfills,andotherdisposalarea(s)tobeused,including name,location,andphonenumber • Listofproposedmaterialstobereusedorrecycledidentifiedonasitepreassessment • Listofmaterialsthatcannotberecycledorreusedwithexplanationorjustification • Meetingstobeheldtoaddresswastemanagementshallincludesubcontractorsaffectedbythewastemanagementplan.Ata minimum,wastemanagementgoalsandissuesshallbediscussedatthefollowingmeetings: • Prebidandpreconstructionmeetings • Projectmeeting,oraminimumofoncepermonth • Storageandcollectionmethodsofwasteandrecyclables,handlingprocedures,andmeansofkeepingrecyclablesfreeof contamination • Descriptionofthemeansoftransportationofthecommingledconstructionanddemolitionrecyclablematerialsandan estimateofhowoftenbinswillneedtobeemptied • Reviseandresubmitplanasrequiredbytheprojectmanager.Approvalofthecontractor’splanshallnotrelievethecontractor ofresponsibilityforcompliancewithapplicableenvironmentalregulations

11.3 Implementation:

11.3.1 ConstructionWasteManagementPlan

Itisrecommendedthatthefollowingguidelinesarefollowedbythecontractoruponcompletionoftheconstructionwastemanagement planandbeginningofconstruction:

• Thecontractorshallestablishcontactswithlocalrecyclingandreusecompaniesandcoordinatewiththesecompaniesin termsofidentifyingmaterials,pickupschedules,andstandardqualityforrecyclingmaterials • Afterawardofcontractandpriortothecommencementofthework,thecontractorshallscheduleandconductameeting withtheprojectmanagerandthearchitect(s)involvedtodiscusstheproposedwastemanagementplanandto developmutualunderstandingrelativetodetailsofenvironmentalprotection • Thecontractorshallprovideonecopyofthewastemanagementplantothejobsiteforeman,eachsubcontractor,andthe projectmanager • Priortodemolitionandhandlingofthesitematerials,thecontractorshallprovideonsiteinstructionofappropriatehandling, recycling,salvage,reuse,andreturnmethodstobeusedbyallpartiesattheappropriatestagesoftheproject • Thecontractorshalldesignateanonsiteparty(orparties)responsibleforoverseeinganddocumentingresultsofthewaste managementplanfortheproject • Thecontractorshallconductconstructionwastemanagementmeetingsasspecifiedinthewastemanagementplan • Thecontractorshalldesignateandtheprojectmanagershallapproveaspecificareaorareastofacilitateseparationof materialsforpotentialreuse,salvage,recycling,andreturn • Wasteandrecyclingbinsshallbeplacedneareachother,andclosetothepointofwastegenerationbutoutofthetraffic pattern.Recyclingandwastebinareasaretobekeptneatandcleanandclearlymarked.Binsshallbeprotectedduringnon workinghoursfromoffsitecontamination.Thegarbagedumpstersshouldbecheckedperiodicallytomonitorrecyclables beingthrownawayorifthereareadditionalmaterialsthatcouldberecycled • Materialstoberecycledshallbeprotectedfromcontaminationandshallbehandled,stored,andtransportedinamannerthat meetsfederal,state,andlocalrequirements • Establishadefinedareafortheoperationsofeachtrade,especiallywoodcuttingsothatoffcutswillbekeptinoneareaand canbesortedbydimensionforfuturereuse • Hazardouswastesshallbeseparated,stored,anddisposedofaccordingtofederalandlocalregulations,includingthenames foreachsubcontractorwhowilltransportsolidorhazardouswastefromthesite,andthenameofthereceivingfacilitythat willacceptwastefordisposal

11.4 Tracking:

11.4.1 ConstructionWasteManagementReport

Atsubstantialcompletion,submitacumulativewastemanagementreportincludingthefollowing:

• Arecordofthetypeandquantity,byweight,ofeachmaterialsalvaged,reused,recycledordisposed • Totalquantityofwasterecycledasapercentageoftotalwaste • Copyofreceiptsissuedbyanapprovedrecyclingfacility.Forcommingledmaterials,includeweightticketsfromtherecycling haulerormaterialrecoveryfacilityandverificationoftherecyclingrateforcomingledloadsatthefacility • Typesandquantities,byweight,formaterialssalvagedforreuseonsite,soldordonatedtoathirdparty

12 ErosionandSedimentationControlPolicy

12.1 Intent:

ThegoalofKGILVistoreducethefacility’simpactonthenaturalsitethroughcarefulchoicesofoutsidecareandmaintenanceforthe building.

12.2 Procedure:

ThefollowingpolicyappliestoanyfutureplansbyKGILVfornewconstructionormodificationstoexistingbuildingsandlandscape.The plansmustmeeteithertheU.S.EnvironmentalProtectionAgency(EPA)orNevada’serosionandsedimentationcontrolcodes,whichever aremorestringent.Theinterfacebetweennewconstructionandexistingsitedevelopmentmaynotcompromiseexistingerosionand sedimentcontrols.Changestolandformandrunoffpatternsmustbeincorporatedintotheoverallsitedrainageplan.

Planningandexecutionofconstructionactivitiesmustincludeastormwaterpollutionpreventionplanthataddressesthefollowing erosionandsedimentationcontroltactics:

• Minimizetheamountofdisturbedsoil. • Preventrunofffromoffsiteareasfromflowingacrossdisturbedareas. • Slowdowntherunoffflowingacrossthesite. • Removethesedimentationfromonsiterunoffbeforeitleavesthesite. • Meetorexceedlocalorstaterequirementsforsedimentanderosioncontrolplans.

Allsiteconstructionresultingindisturbanceofsoilorremovalofplantmaterialmustincludeadustcontrolprogramto minimizelossofsoilthroughwinderosion,aswellas,minimizationofparticulate(dust)airpollutionasdirectedbyEPADocumentNo. EPA832/R92005(1992),StormWaterManagementforConstructionActivities,Chapter3:SedimentandErosionControl.
