Grand Knight’s Message Ernie Rodriguez

Worthy Brother Knights,

Never in my wildest dream could I have imagined that this COVID virus would still be

upon us after 9 months.

Our lives still continue to change, we continue to be limited on our visits to friends, restaurants and our weekly activities. However, we hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine now available for distribution. I pray that this will somehow bring our lives back to some normalcy in the next few months.

As you read this message, Advent is over and we have welcomed Jesus. Reminiscing the last 9 months, we did not celebrate Easter, summer was not normal, Thanksgiving was without family and friends due to travel restrictions, and Christmas season was different. However, I cannot thank each and everyone of you Brother Knights for being the epitome of what a Knight is all about:

• We collected over 2700 lbs of food for our food pantry • We honored all of our departed Brothers with a Necrology Mass • We honored our Lady of Guadalupe by hosting the Silver Rose program • Celebrated our Founder Fr Michael McGivney’s beatification with a mass

the day he became Blessed • Helped a disabled veteran with her relocation efforts by removing over

5000 lbs of material • Supported the Diocese’s Rosary Rally • Recited the Rosary weekly before the Saturday Vigil Masses • Supported Respect Life by placing white crosses in the parish grounds to

show that many babies are still being aborted • Supported our Coats for Kids by distributing 60 coats to kids • Honor Guard honored our departed brothers who have entered eternal life

by attending their funerals • Assisted in the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets for 132 families • Assisted in the Christmas giving tree campaign

As we prepare for the upcoming year, we hope that the worse is over and that we can all start gathering once again at Mass, meetings and visiting with our family and friends. I wish all of you and your families a…

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Vivat Jesus.

Congratulations to Andy Ziny November Knight of the Month

For his dedicated service and contributions, Brother Andy Ziny is recognized as the Council 9993 November 2020 Knight of the Month.

Brother Andy has been a parish member since April 2006. He serves as a lector, EMHC, sacristan, acolyte, servant leader of sacristans and acolytes, coordinator of the Monday evening Bible study, coordinator of the Holiday Food Basket ministry, part of the Fostering Hope "Haven" ministry, member of the finance council, and sometimes carpenter for various parish and Council projects. He has built three tables for the altar, frame/stand for the Divine Mercy image, and kneelers. Brother Andy also built the plaque for the deceased brothers of our Council as well as the crosses that are placed on the parish property during 40 Days for Life.

Andy is a retired US Air Force service member, and currently works as a civilian for the Air Force at Peterson AFB. His job is transportation planning for homeland defense and assistance to civil authorities, which usually means providing assistance in the wake of natural disasters, such as the earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010, the hurricanes that hit Texas, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico in 2017, and hurricane Dorian which severely damaged some of the islands in the Bahamas earlier this month. Andy also volunteers at the Arts and Crafts center on the Air Force Academy and teaches introductory wood working classes.

Andy has been married to his wife Michele since 1985. They have two grown children; a daughter (Charlotte, age 32) lives in southern Virginia with her husband and works as an assistant professor of Nursing at Sentera College of Health. And son (Anton, age 31) lives in Alamogordo NM and works on F-16 aircraft at Hollomon AFB and volunteers as a fire fighter.

We are blessed for having Brother Andy in Council 9993. We thank him for his dedicated service in the military, church, community, and Council activities.

Ringing in the new year also means tha t membership dues are due. R e m e m b e r that the dues increased this year to $42. Due to COVID, and partly due to trying to get into the modern age, we are hoping to have a method to pay the dues online. Keep an eye out for future emails regarding this.

Congratulations to Noel Barber who completed his C h a r i t y , U n i t y a n d Fraternity exemplification o n D e c 1 7 , 2 0 2 0 . Welcome to our council

Saturday Vigil Rosary Reciters The world is in desperate need of the Light of Christ. One of the best ways we as Knights can spread the light is to pray. Specifically pray the Rosary. As Knights we are called to a strong devotion to the Rosary. Please help to share the Light of Christ by praying the Rosary before the Saturday Vigil Mass at 4:00pm. Two Bothers are needed to pray the Rosary each week. This will go on indefinitely at this time.

Please consider helping and Put Your Faith in Action! Please sign up here: https://bit.ly/VigilRosary

Brothers

As you may know, Council 9993 is partnering with Vitalant to host 2 blood drives throughout the year.

With all of the changes we have experienced during the pandemic, hosting a blood drive on-site is not

feasible for us. But, we are still committed to the mission of saving lives through blood donation, so we

are hosting a virtual blood drive. This is your invitation to take part in this innovative event to support

hospital patients in our community.

Participating in the virtual blood drive is easy. For us to track all of the donations at the virtual blood

drive, you need to follow these steps:

1. Sign up https://learn.vitalant.org/LP=148?drive_code=DEN00664&division=MOUNTAIN%26%region=DEN for the virtual blood drive to get your emailed invitation to schedule your appointment.

2. When your email arrives, click “Schedule Now” to book your appointment at any convenient

blood donation location using the same email address you used to sign up. This is important

because it helps Vitalant connect your donation to our organization’s virtual blood drive.

3. Prepare for your donation by eating a healthy meal and drinking plenty of water. Remember to

bring a photo ID with you.

4. Give blood, transform lives!

Thanks for supporting patients by donating blood during our virtual blood drive. Because of donors like

you, life doesn’t stop.

Pope Francis’ prayer to Our Lady, Health of the Sick O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain with steadfast faith.

You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that as you did at Cana of Galilee,

joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us:

He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us through the Cross to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger,

O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Prayer During Coronavirus Pandemic O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother Mary,

We, your children of every nation, Turn to you in this pandemic.

Our troubles are numerous; our fears are great. Grant that we might deposit them at your feet,

Take refuge in your Immaculate Heart, And obtain peace, healing, rescue,

And timely help in all our needs. You are our Mother.

Pray for us to your Son. Amen.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I

desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit

me to be separated from You. Amen

Pray this when you are unable to attend Mass to unite yourself to God and the Mass.
