(See page 6 for a listing of the proposed slate of officers) I would be terribly remiss if I did not extend a huge THANK YOU to the FISH FRY team! What a fantastic job they did over the Lenten Season. Every Friday they served over 100 meals in less than a half hour each time! Our BINGO Team continues to provide a great afternoon to members of the community along with a fantastic lunch. They also provided a fun evening for the Santa Maria del Mar Ladies F.U.N.N. group that was enjoyed by the 50+ ladies who attended. If you haven’t been to Bingo on a Tuesday, come on by, help is always needed or just sit down and enjoy a game. If you have not already purchased your tickets to our Annual Corporate Communion Breakfast, be sure to contact Brother John Check at 386-225-4456. The breakfast will be held immediately after our Annual Corporate Communion Mass at the 9:00 Mass on Sunday, May 5th. We ask that all members of Council #10514 and Assembly #2810 wear their respective Knights of Columbus shirts to the Mass. (See Corporate Communion flyer on page 6) Hopefully you have already marked your calendars to be at our last dinner/dance of this fraternal year. On Saturday, May 18th we will hold our annual Sock Hop in the Parish Hall. There will be continuous serving of the 50’s menu from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Don’t forget the famous root beer floats! Grand Knight – Patrick Mulvihill

Worthy Brothers,

Wow, only two more months left in our fraternal year. We got off to a rocky beginning with multiple changes in officers, but things have

smoothed out over the last couple of months and we have had a fantastic year! Just as a reminder, we will be holding elections for new officers at our May 1st meeting. The proposed slate of officers developed by the Steering Committee has been published in the last two council newsletters. However, nominations can still be made from the floor. (See page 6 for a listing of the proposed slate of officers)

I would be terribly remiss if I did not extend a huge THANK YOU to the FISH FRY team!

We ask that all members of Council #10514 and

Assembly #2810 wear their respective Knights of Columbus shirts to the Mass. (See Corporate Communion flyer on page 6)

Hopefully you have already marked your calendars to be at our last dinner/dance of this fraternal year. On Saturday, May 18th we will hold our annual Sock Hop in the Parish Hall. There will be continuous serving of the 50’s menu from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Don’t forget the famous root beer floats! (See dance flyer & article on page 5)

Some of the Santa Maria del Mar Parish events that you should include on your calendar is First Communion on May 11th and Confirmation on May 18th. The annual May Crowning has not yet been scheduled.

Please say the following prayer for our sick and bereaved Brothers and their families: Lord, bless our sick today so that they may bear their illness in union with Jesus’ sufferings and restore them quickly to health. In your goodness, we ask you to grant our beavered Brothers, and families everlasting peace and happiness. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Mary Queen of the Knights pray for us and continue to guide us in our commitments to our principles of charity, unity and fraternity.

Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!

Deputy Grand Knight – Michael Boullion Last month, all members of the Knights of Columbus were called to express prayerful solidarity with their Brother Knights in France and all those who mourn the fire catastrophe at Notre-Dame Cathedral — one of the world’s

greatest treasures of the human spirit. Particularly, Notre Dame Council 10514 has a special affinity to the Paris Cathedral and all things honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary (Notre Dame means Our Lady in French). Here are a few interesting facts about Notre Dame Cathedral: France is the most visited country in the world. Notre

Dame Cathedral is the most visited site in Paris. ‘Notre-Dame de Paris’ is built on the Île de la Cité (City

Island) in the very center of Paris and is 850 years old. According to tradition, on the 2nd of December 1804

Napoleon crowned himself Emperor Napoleon I at Notre Dame de Paris snatching the crown from the hands of Pope Pius VII. Thus he displayed his rejection of the authority of the Pontiff.

On the square in front of the church, a much overlooked tiny plate, engraved with a compass, and is known as “point zéro des routes de France” (Point Zero of French Roads), indicates where all distances to and from Paris are measured.

The bells of Notre-Dame bear names. The main ones are called Marie, Emmanuel, Gabriel, Anne-Geneviève, Denis, Marcel, Etienne, Benoît-Joseph, Maurice, and Jean-Marie.

Notre-Dame is home to priceless art and treasure, among which are the Holy Crown of Thorns worn by Christ and a relic of His Holy Cross.

“Why should I become an Insurance Member?”

On occasion, a brother Knight will ask me this question. The obvious answer, of course, is because of your insurance need! Insurance need aside, what are some of the other advantages to being an insurance

member? Let me name a couple: Your financial participation helps fund the Order’s

charitable activities. You retain the right to purchase additional KofC

products, regardless of membership status. Your spouse has a “Spousal Right to Purchase” any

KofC annuity or insurance product, for which she qualifies, for one year after your death.

Our Order is among the highest rated life insurers in North America. AM Best has rated the Knights of Columbus with a “Superior” rating for over 40 consecutive years. Our current rating of “A+, Superior” is a testament to our track record for excellence and security. Standard and Poor’s recently listed the Knights of Columbus as one of the six

strongest life insurance companies in North America – putting us at the very top of the industry. Since the year 2000, insurance in force as grown from $40 billion to $115 billion and our assets have increased from $8.5 billion to $25 billion. During these years we have paid out more than $5.3 billion in dividends and more than $4.3 billion in death benefits. That’s nearly $10 billion in dividends and benefits. Let’s talk soon about how “Insurance for Brother Knights by Brother Knights” can bring peace of mind to you and your family.

Coastal Laps for Life

The Fourth Annual Coastal Laps for Life was a huge success. Notre Dame Star Council 10514 co-hosted the 2019 event along with Port Orange Council 8086.

Monies raised this year are being utilized to purchase an ultrasound machine for Alpha Women’s Center in Bunnell.

Alpha Women’s Center decided they needed their own ultrasound machine after maximizing the availability of Life Services of St. John’s County’s portable mobile ultrasound unit. Pictured below are: Top Left – Alpha Women’s Center employees, Alpha board members, and Council 10514 members Art Giliberti, GK Pat Mulvihill, & DGK Michael Boullion. In the local community, the Knights of Columbus offers men a place to lead their families and communities in faith and service and put their Faith into Action. Knights of Columbus members, parishes and families have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference through Supreme Council-recommended programs. The Faith in Action Program focuses on four areas: Faith, Community, Family, and Life. These are some of the activities of Council 10514 over the past year:

Embrace them with Your constant love, and with the power of Christ’s healing presence, that Your bountiful goodness may be their source of comfort, strength and joy. Amen.
