Worthy Brother Knights,

It's February, we really can't complain too much about the Winter we've been having, but I still can't wait for Spring!

Our Council Programs remain very busy. I'd like to highlight a few key recent events:

2020 Oakville District Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw Championship took place on Sat Jan 25 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. 115 Athletes from Oakville Catholic Elementary schools from ages 9-13 took part. Highlights included ap-pearances and words of encouragement from MP Anita Anand, MPP Stephan Crawford, and Ward 4 Counselor Peter Longo. Special thanks to the Chairmen: Brothers Frank D’Aurora, Mario Peluso and Andrew Eckstein. This is a great combined Council fraternal event!

Family & Friends Dinner/Dance Fundraiser on Sat Feb 8. 185 guests attended the event at Le Dome. I'm very pleased to see such a great turnout of our fellow Brothers and parishioners, and all their families and friends, to such a great successful fraternal event. Many guests commented to me that they're already lining up more friends to attend next year! I had the pleasure of Co-Chairing this event with Brother Tony Saturno. Special thanks to all the Committee mem-bers: Brothers Rob Castonguay, John Casullo, Ken Dew, Ernest Flor-entino, Thomas Krueger, Ken Lesperance, Tom Schramm, Tony Zim-balatti, and Stephen Zupanc.

I would also like to thank Brother Jim Tourangeau for agreeing to Co-Chair the KofC Charity Raffle Program with Brother Ken Dew. Please ensure you help to support the sales effort.

Deputy Grand Knight’s Message

Brothers,

The dinner dance was great success and a lot of fun too! I’d also like to thank the co-chairs and the committee for all their hard work. It was truly a great team effort to pull it all together.

The Basketball Free-Throw was also another great event and one I really enjoy participating in. The kids have a great time and I think the volunteers have just about as much fun as they do! Great job by Frank, Mario and Council 3881’s Andrew Eckstein putting it all together.

As we approach the end of February and, the beginning of the Lenten season, stay tuned for more upcoming activities such as “Friday Rosary” starting on the 28th through Friday April 3rd. On Friday March 6th the Knights will also be leading the Stations of the Cross. We also have the men’s retreat on Saturday April 4th so pencil these dates in your calen-dar. Brother Mario will be looking for assistance with Friday Rosary and the Stations on March 6th, so please, help out!

On April 3 thru April 5th, 2020 our council will have a booth at the Oakville Lifestyle Spring Home Show where we will be selling the 2020 Ontario Lottery Ticket. The event is being chaired by Brothers Jim Tourangeau and Ken Dew and they will need our help!

So, as you can see, we’ve got a lot on the go in the next couple of months! We’re really going to need some help here guys, I’m counting on you!

A defendant in a lawsuit involving large sums of money was talking to his lawyer. "If I lose this case, I'll be ruined."

"It's in the judge's hands now," said the lawyer.

"Would it help if I sent the judge a box of cigars?"

"Oh no! This judge is a stickler or ethical behavior. A stunt like that would prejudice him against you. He might even

hold you in contempt of court. In fact, you shouldn't even smile at the judge."

Within the course of time, the judge rendered a decision in favor of the defendant. As the defendant left the court-

house, he said to his lawyer, "Thanks for the tip about the cigars. It worked!"

"I'm sure we would have lost the case if you'd sent them."

"But, I did send them."

"What? You did?" said the lawyer, incredulously.

"Yes. That's how we won the case."

"I don't understand," said the lawyer.

"It's easy. I sent the cigars to the judge, but enclosed the plaintiff's business card."

Basketball Free Throw Championship, Oakville


The competition took place on Monday Jan 20, 2020.

There were about 30 athletes that took part. Medals were awarded and every-one had a wonderful time.

Thank you to the Brother Knights for their help. There were 6 Brother Knights in attendance. Thanks to David Fisher, Ken Lesperance, Gabe Salvatore, Brendan Saunders, and all the co-chairs.
