    Morning Log

    Diamond Divas.

Sabrina, Brynn, Dolleen, and Kathleen, otherwise known as

the t-shirt committee, discuss possible designs for the 010

KMWP Summer Institute shirt. Im not sure if they chose

the final design, but by the end of the day, Kathleen was

    taking orders and sizes.

Fear and Loathing (and Love) at KSU.

Shaun, Kathleen, and Nini discuss what they love, hate,

and fear at the beginning of Brynns presentation.

Its Better to Keep a Friend from Falling than to Help Him U

Shaun and Kathleen spot Jen while she attempts to turn on the projector despite her fear of heights. When the proje

could not be revived, Jen came up with a back-up plan and brought in a different projector. We all got a little extra wr

time and the mornings presenters got a little extra anxiety preparation time. By lunchtime, we were back on sched

    Blogging for Apples.

Kristen watches as we all at-

tempt to use a variety of sentence

    structures to blog about apples.

Those of us who were nervous

about using blogs in our clasroom

felt more at ease after Kristens

    demo.

    Taboo Technology.

Pam presents ways to use cell

    phones, iPods, and Facebook to

    engage students in learning and

    writing. Pam also shared the

technology use of her own family

    of digital immigrants and digital

    natives.

Whos Afraid of the Big, Bad

    Wolf?

Brynn illustrates how to use point

of view to teach students about

    empathy while Tommy admires

    her fabulous Venn diagram. As

    a result of Brynns presentation,

we all felt Ninis pain when

    Brynn became expressive with

    her hands!

Reflections from Wednesday, June 3,010.Pams demo left me convinced that technology needs to be incorporated into the classroom; however, my tecnology skills do not meet my enthusiasm. --Montyne

I wrote an I Am poem today. I think Ill also use this activity with my students, even in conjunction w

Brynns activity. Its good to reflect on who you are and helps one understand better why they have the perspe

tives in life that they have in situations. All good stuff :0) --Dolleen

Not only is this experience stretching my writing, it is also stretching my teaching! Thank you all who have

part in the SI 010! --Jessica
