Since the closure in 1908 of Dongje Medical School, which was sponsored by Emperor Gojong, the sages of Koreanmedicine have endeavored to resurrect the subject as a national science. Their efforts over the past 100 years to preservethe noble values of Korean medicine have resulted in the establishment of the School of Korean Medicine at PusanNational University.

The school is dedicated to excellence in education, and fundamental

and clinical research into Korean medicine. We have an interdisciplinary

curriculum, including both Western and Korean medicine. There is

considerable emphasis placed on standardizing traditional medical

practices and materials provided for patients, which we believe will

improve the health of the Korean population.

하였습니다.

최초의근대한의학교육기관인동제의학교(同濟醫學校)가문을닫은지 100년 만에국학으로서의

한의학의맥을이은한의학전문대학원은선조들의인술제세(仁術濟世) 정신과과학적지식체계를

계승하여정체성있는한의학교육의토대를마련하고있습니다.

한의학계 최초로 주제별 통합강의와 한의학 연구과정 도입, 임상교육에 문제중심학습(PBL)과

임상실기시험(OSCE,CPX) 도입, 우수한 교육인력과 첨단 인프라 확보 등 차별화된 시스템을

통해최고의교육, 연구환경을제공하고 있습니다.

또한 부속 한방병원과 한-양방협진센터, 국내 최초의 한의약임상연구센터를 설치하고, 의생명

산학협력에기반을둔한의약메디컬클러스터구축을통해한의약의표준화, 과학화, 산업화를

The School of Korean Medicine was founded in March 2008 in order to generate doctors withprofessional expertise in Korean medicine and to foster leaders who will modernize andindustrialize Korean medicine. One hundred years have passed since the closure of the firstmodern school for traditional Korean medicine, Dongje Medical School. Today, the School ofKorean Medicine at PNU has inherited the spirit of Dongje Medical School and laid newfoundations for education and research into Korean medicine.For the first time in Korean medicine institutions, an integrative lecture system has beenemployed, together with research courses, problem-based learning(PBL) and Clinical PracticeExamination(OSCE.CPX) for clinical education. Along with excellent faculty members and state-of-art research facilities, we offer the best environment for students.Under development are an affiliated Korean medicine hospital, a cooperative center for Koreanand Western medicine, and the first national clinical research center for Korean medicine,which will make up the Korean medical cluster at PNU. We will lead research in Koreanmedicine by promoting this multidisciplinary medical cluster.The faculties and students of the School of Korean Medicine at PNU will devote themselves tobecoming pioneers of future medicine and to ensuring that Korean medicine becomesinternationally respected, and thus the core of medicine.

Curriculum·Department of Koean Medicine : 4 years

Professional courses for those with a bachelor's degree whobecome traditional Korean medical doctors. A master's degreein Korean Medicine will be conferred.

·Department of Korean Medical Science : 4 yearsCourses for those who conduct basic research into Koreanmedicine. A Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.)will be conferred.

·Multi-degree programs in Korean medicine : 6 years term(Master of Korean Medicine +Ph.D. awarded)With this course, students can obtain both the eligibility for theKorean Medicine Doctor's license and a doctoral degree.

학습자원실_컴퓨터60대,전자칠판등각종멀티미디어교육

기자재를보유하고있는약190㎡규모의공간으로,의료정보와

통계 관련 수업과 실습이 이루어지며, 향후 컴퓨터 기반 시험

(CBT,Computer-basedtest)을도입하기위한시설입니다.

임상술기실습실 _ 효율적인임상세부기술습득을위해국내

한의학 교육기관 중 최초로 설치한 것으로, 표준화 환자 진료

(CPX) 실습을 위한 2개의 모의진료실과 임상술기시험(OSCE)

시행을위한총33종의술기모형등특수기자재를갖추고있습

니다.

의생명과학도서관_ 15,000권의전공도서,181종의학술잡지,

32종의 비도서 자료와 각종 온라인 DB 등 다양한 한의학 학술

정보자료를보유하고있으며,전학년수용이가능한총174석의

열람실을운영하고있습니다.

PBL(Problem-based learning)실 _ 문제해결능력을

키우는 PBL수업을 위한 공간으로서 총 10개실에 각각 영상-

오디오장비,전자액자,실습용베드등이설치되어있으며,중앙

통제하에조별학습활동과임상실기시험장소로도활용합니다.

대회의실 _ 58여석·30개의마이크로폰음향시설과영상장비를

갖추고 있는 대회의실은 각종 학술세미나 및 국제학술대회에

이용되고있습니다.

Excellent faculty members _ The faculty members are experts in

basic and clinical Korean medicine and bioscience. They are highly

professional in their fields and are committed to the education of

Korean medicine

Learning resources laboratory_ This space is approximately 190㎡

with the diverse multimedia & educational apparatus, and the

students study and practice medical information and statistics here.

It will be used in the future as a room for computer-based tests.

Laboratory for practicing clinical techniques _ The School of

Korean Medicine is the only Korean medicine education institute that

has a clinical techniques practice laboratory, which was built to

enable the effective learning of clinical techniques. It has 2

simulation medical offices for clinical performance examination

practice with special materials, such as 33 human body models for

OSCE.

Medicine and Life Science Library _ Our library has 15,000 books

on various topics of Korean medicine, 181 academic journals, 32

nonbook materials, and online databases. The reading rooms

contain 174 seats, enough to seat all of our Korean medical students.

PBL laboratory _ For PBL lectures, which help students to improve

their problem-solving capabilities, 10 rooms are equipped with

audiovisual equipment, electronic frames, and practice beds. These

rooms are ideal for group study and simulation practical exams.

Conference Room _ The Conference Room equipped with 58 seats,

30 microphones and sound-video systems is used for various

academic seminars and international symposiums.

최초의국립한의약임상연구센터로, 임상연구에필요한외래진료실과임상연구전용병동을

갖추고 있으며, 한약과 침구를 비롯한 의료기술의 유효성과 안전성에 대한 임상시험을

통하여한의약의근거기반을확보함으로써,새로운의료기술및한약신약을개발하여국민

건강증진과 삶의 질 향상에 노력하고 있습니다.

As the first national clinical research center for Korean medicine, this center isequipped with outpatient clinics and inpatient wards for clinical research. The centerwill contribute to improving the public's health and quality of life, by securing thegrounds for Korean medicine through clinical trials on the effectiveness and safety oftraditional medicine technologies.

의학고전, 의사학, 의학철학, 의료윤리학, 의료사회학, 의료관리학 등

인문학과사회의학분야의교육과연구를담당합니다.

● 약물의학부

한약의기원,성미,효능과임상에있어서의처방구성의이론을탐구하며,

한약처방의제형변화와제제의개발,한약의약동학적기전과약력학을

연구함으로써한약응용의효율을높이는데주력하고있습니다.

● 응용의학부

인체에발생한이상상태를파악하고그기전과원리를탐구하는한·양

방의 여러 학문분야 (병리학, 진단학, 상한론, 미생물/면역학, 진단검사

● Division of Humanities and Social Medicine)To understand the personal, social, and philosophical aspects of humans and

medicine, we study the fields of humanities and social sciences, such as medical

classics, medical history, medical philosophy, medical ethics, medical sociology,

and medical management.

● Division of PharmacologyWe study the oirgins, traits, and efficacy of herbal drugs and the theory of clinical

composition. We also research the dosage forms, medications, pharmacokinetics,

and pharmacodynamics of herbal drugs to increase their efficiency of use.

● Division of Applied MedicineWe cover various fields of Korean and Western medicine(e.g., pathology,

diagnostics, Shanghanlun, microbiology, immunology, and diagnostic laboratory

medicine), including diagnosis, principles, and mechanisms of the abnormal body

state. We bridge the gap between basic and clinical medicine.

● Division of Longevity and Biofunctional MedicineBy understanding the integrative vital phenomenon of Korean medicine along with

physiology and disease, we use Korean preventive medicine to increase the

longevity and improve the quality of life.

● Division of Meridian and Structural MedicineWe research into and educate students on "qi", meridians, and acupoints, which

form the basis of acupuncture. We also study embryology, histology, and anatomy

so as to better understand the body structure.

● 내과

소화기계질환, 심혈관계질환, 호흡기계질환, 신장비뇨기계질환, 내분비계질환,

신경계질환등내과영역의질환들을중심으로다루고있으며,간계내과·심계내과·

비계내과·폐계내과·신계내과등5개의임상과로구분됩니다.

● 신경정신과

인간의五臟의기능과,精,氣,血,津液등이각각정신상태및기능과밀접한관계를

가진다는이론에근거하여각종신경병증,정신병증을치료하고연구합니다.

● 재활의학과

한방재활의학과는환자들의자연치유력과삶의질을증대시키는것이주된목표로써,

각종한의학전문치료와추나요법,한방물리요법을이용하여재활을필요로하는

각종 척추 및 근골격계 질환, 스포츠 손상과 마비 질환을 치료하는 것을 목표로

하는특화된의료분야입니다.

● 사상의학과

사상의학은 동무 이제마의 동의수세보원을 통해서 창안된 의학으로서 인체 장국

(臟局)의 대소에 따라 사상인, 즉 태양인, 태음인, 소양인, 소음인으로 구분되며,

각 사상인마다 병인, 생리, 병리, 치료, 예방 등을 달리 접근합니다. 사상의학은

기존의의학과는다른고유의방법론으로질병의치료와예방뿐아니라삶의질

향상에기여합니다.

● 안이비인후·피부외과학

우리 몸의 눈, 코, 귀, 입, 피부 등의 감각기관을 전문적으로 진료하는 한의학의

분과로안이비인후과학과피부외과학으로분류됩니다.많은질병의증상이외부에

드러나 육안적으로 관찰이 가능하여 한의학의 사진(四診) 중에서 망진(望診)이

중요하며,치료에있어외치(外治)가큰비중을차지하는과목입니다.

● 침구과

침구요법은한의학기초이론인경락학설과장상학설을근거로하여인체의일정한

부위(경혈)에각종침과뜸을이용한자극으로써생체반응을일으켜질병을예방·

완화·치료하는 것으로,침구요법을 위주로 하는 침구과에서는 고전적인 침법과

구법을현대의신침요법과결합하여치료율을높이는연구를합니다.

● 부인과

한방부인과에서는 월경, 임신, 출산 및 폐경 등 여성만의 고유한 생리적 특성에

발생한질환을진단,치료및관리를하고있습니다.진료분야에서는월경병,대하-

성기병, 임신병, 산시-산후병 등으로 세분화되어 있어 더욱 전문화된 진료를

제공하고있습니다.

● 소아과

한방소아과는 신생아, 영아, 유아, 청소년의 진료를 담당하는 곳으로 일반적인

소아과 질환을 포함한 알레르기성 질환, 경련성 질환, 마비성 질환 등을 다루며,

한의학적육아와섭생을지도합니다.

● 동서협진의학과

동서협진의학과에서는한의학진료와병행하여서양의학적인검사및진단,처치를

제공함으로써 치료의 효율을 높이고 부작용을 최소화합니다. 한·양방협진의

임상연구를통해난치병의새로운치료방법을연구합니다.

● 진단생기능의학과

진단·생기능의학과는 설문조사, 각종 기기검사를 활용하여 인체의 상태를 정량

적으로평가,진단하고이에따른적절한치료방침을제공하고있습니다.

● Department of Internal MedicineWe treat patients with internal diseases such as digestive,cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, endocrine and nervoussystem disease in five subdepartments concentrating on the liver,heart, spleen, lung and kidney of Korean Medical sense.

● Department of NeuropsychiatryAccording to the principle that the five organs(liver, heart, spleen,lung and kidney) and physical fundamentals such as essence, qi,and blood are closely related to mental functions, we cure andstudy various neurological disorder and psychical disorder.

● Department of Rehabilitation MedicineOriental Rehabilitation medicine sets its target on enhancingpatients' own healing power and quality of life. And it is aspecialized medical field to aim at treating various spine andmusculoskeletal diseases, sports injuries and paralytic diseasesthat need rehabilitation by using various special oriental medicaltreatments, Chuna manipulation, and physiotherapy and so on.

● Department of Sasang Constitutional MedicineSasang Constitutional Medicine was originated from the(Donguisusebowon) written by Dr. Jema Lee. Based on Sasangtheory, every individual is categorized into Taeyang, Taeeum,Soyang and Soeum according to the size of intestines, and thereare distinct approaches to each type in the cause of disease,physiology, pathology, cure and prevention.

● Department of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology andDermatology

Dept. OOD(Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology) is abranch of Korean Medicine to care sensory organs such as eyes,nose, ears, mouth, skin etc, which is classfied Ophthalmology &Otolaryngology and Dermatosurgery. The symptoms of manydiseases(Dept. OOD) exposed on the outside can be observed bythe naked eye, therefore the Mangjin of fore examination ofKorean Medicine is important, and external treatment accountedfor a large proportion.

● Department of Acupuncture and MoxibustionIn Korea, Acupuncture and Moxibustion are primarily based on themeridian and Jangsang theories, which constitute the conceptualcore of traditional Korean medicine. A number of different types ofacupuncture and moxibustion are used to stimulate predefinedbody points on meridians to achieve therapeutic reactions, whichare expected to result in the prevention, management, andtreatment of various diseases.

● Department of GynecologyIn our Gynecology department, we treat and care for the diseasescharacteristic of women, including menstruation, pregnancy,childbirth and menopause. Our treatment field subdivides it intomenstruation disorder, leukorrhea, pregnancy disorder anddiseases during and after pregnancy in order to provide morespecialized services.

● Department of PediatricsWe treat general, allergic, spasmodic, and paralytic diseases ofinfants, children, and teenagers. We provide Korean medicalinstructions for child care regimens.

● Department of Integrative MedicineAlong with Korean medical treatments, western medicalexaminations, diagnosis, and treatments are provided so as toincrease the efficacy of therapeutics and minimize adverse effects.We seek novel treatment modality through the clinical.

● Department of Diagnostic and Biofunctional MedicineBy utilizing questionnaire surveys and other instrumentalexaminations, we quantitatively esaminations, we quantitativelyestimate and diagnose the state of the body and offer suitabletreatments
