ObjectivesObjectives
• To make sure there are basic housing utilities in every household.
• To allow every household to own a property.
• To lower the death rate, infant mortality rate and raise the life expectancy of an average person in Klong Toey.
• Allowing lower-income households to own a property.
Problems facedProblems faced
• Massive spontaneous or informal self-help housing (loosely termed as shanty housing) on the fringe of large cities is largely centered.
• Fringe developments dominates the area covered; the distribution of high density dwellings for low income groups is complex.

• They face threat of eviction as now the Port Authority wants to clear the area to make way for commercial development to increase tourism rate in the city.
• With support from the Duang Pratreep Foundation, the slum dwellers fight against the eviction due to the unaffordable rent for high rise flats.

• The Thai Government has launched many housing loan programmes such as: – the Government Housing mortgage loan
programme for civil servants and state-owned enterprises' employees; and
– the Government Savings Bank's mortgage for low-income people.

long maturity loans, which has been highly conducive to borrowers.
• The programme currently finances 26.7 billion Baht (1.267 billion SGD) worth of mortgages.
• The success of these loan packages has influenced many commercial banks to offer comparable loans, giving the consumers more alternatives.

they have essentials for living.• Give grants to lower-income households,
