    CRITICAL REFLECTION

    I started doing my tasks by sourcing related information on lesson planning

    and selection of teaching -learning resources from the internet and journals. I tried to

    make it more accessible by converting complex information into manageable chunks .

    I utilized graphical ways of working with ideas to present information. First and

    foremost, I went through four articles pertaining to planning a lesson. I analysed all

    the needed information from those articles and highlighted key words and phrases.

    Key concepts provide the categories under the big idea, while key word/phrases

    provide the elements that are the most important to understand.

    In groups of four, Ang Poon Siong, Nuli, Huang Mee Teng and I were asked

    to select a topic in the KBSR English Language Curriculum Specifications and

    prepared a weekly plan. It is the application of an integrating approach for the

    development of communicative skills in the classroom, in which the four skills in the

    acquisition of knowledge, so that teaching and learning can be made in a coherent

    way, and practiced together with a distinction of the importance of one upon the

    other. We finally came to a concurrence of choosing a topic on Animal .

    Based on the weekly plan, we systematically and carefully planned a lesson

    for a mixed abilities class for productive use of instructional time. This task was an

    individual work. We needed to make wise decisions about the strategies and

    methods we would employ to help pupils move systematically towards learner go als.

    Our lesson plans should reflect interests and needs of the pupils besides correlating

    with the textbook. In the process of preparing the relevant teaching-learning

    resources for the lesson, we sat together and had the group discussions in the

    resource centre. We brainstormed on the activities that we should integrate in the

    lesson. Those activities must be tailored to the lesson plan.

    In our group, we discussed and selected one lesson plan to be adopted and

    adapted for micro-teaching. I found that Angs was such a well-developed lesson

    plan that reflected interests and needs of pupils. It incorporated best practices for the

    weekly plan and the educational field. His lesson plan was more fluid as it was

    adaptable to pupil needs and learning styles. Besi des that, it seemed broad and

    thematic because it allowed us to create various listening, writing, speaking, and

    reading assignments. It helped us to teach different literature genres and incorporate

    video clips, films, and television programmes. In the nutshell, we chose his.

    After we have flushed out the details of the revised lesson plan, it was time to

    deliver our instruction as effectively as possible. On the next stage, we were required

    to carry out a macro-teaching according to the revised lesson pla n in our college. The

    same process rolled on that we have got to execute the same lesson plan in the

    school during practicum as well.
