Places to eat and drinkLaowood Coffee Rest AreaLaowood Coffee Rest Area is located opposite the Boao town government. It is a traditional Chinese tile-roofed building with local village style interior which provides authentic Boao coffee and some local snacks.

This authentic tea house is a must see in Boao as the interior will leave you speechless.

It is a great place to sit in the evening and enjoy a cup of coffee in the beauti-ful garden.

MMake sure you take your camera with you, as there are many great photo's to be taken in the Lao Wood Coffee Rest Area. By the way Lao means old in Chinese.

Here are some of the small culture tips that we have learnt over the last few years. Some of them we have learnt the hard way -

Never give a Chinese person white owersWhite owers are funeral owers and it would not be polite to give them as a gift.

Never give a Chinese person a watchIf you give a Chinese person a watch it signies that you are wishing their life away.

When toasting drinks with a Chinese personAs a sign of respect to the person you are having a drink with, your glass should always be lower when cheersing him and glasses touch.

When drinking tea with a Chinese personWhen a Chinese person pours tea into your glass it is extremely polite to tap the table silently with your index and middle nger. There is a very long but interesting story behind this tradition and if you would like to know then just ask us.

Face, Losing face, saving face and giving face is very important and should be taken into consideration at all times. Loosing your temper, confronting someone, putting someone on the spot, arro-gant behavior, or failing to accord proper respect can cause a loss of face.

Personal Questions Do not be surprised when asked personal questions regarding age, marital status, children, family, income, job, etc. This is done to seek common ground
