Composting Process STEP 1

Segregated kitchen waste being prepared for

Quick check is conducted to ensure that there is noplastic in the contents.

Society residents segregate kitchen waste in separate garbage bags. A garbage van picks up these bags daily and deposits the bags

outside the composting shed within the society premises.

Operator starts composting machine for shredding the

kitchen mix that has been prepared

The garbage is shredded by the composting machine and is collected in these crates as kitchen compost

The shredded compost collected from the composting machine is arranged on racks. A record is maintained to track the order in

which the crates are kept on the rack on a daily basis. A motor, pump and a plastic drum containing water is set-up near each rack

for a water drip system. Each crate has a drip feeding water into the crate to keep the compost moist.

Composting Process STEP 5

The composting crates are kept in the rack for curing and is kept moist using the drip system for 10 days. On the 11th day, the

compost is fed back again into the composting machine for finer shredding and the compost is now ready for packing and

dispatch.
