The horsepower wars were well underway when in 1964, Ford answered Chevrolet’s 409 and Chrysler’s 426 Hemi with a new engine for its full-size Galaxie 500: the now rare and desirable R-code 427/425 HP V-8, which was offered in standard form with a 4-speed manual transmission. The shining example offered here was restored several years ago by renowned Ford expert Donald Allen of Clarksville, GA, who retained its original color scheme of M-code Wimbledon White on a code

72 Bright Blue bench seat interior. The engine compartment is home to a fully detailed dual quad-equipped 427/425 HP engine with cross-bolt main bearing caps and all the other correct pieces: high flow heads and exhaust manifolds, Perma-Tune transistor ignition, coil and distributor, aluminum intake manifold, chrome valve covers and cast aluminum “oval” air cleaner. Optioned with power windows, tinted glass, remote driver’s mirror, bumper guards and AM radio with rear seat speaker, it also incorporates a 3.50

rear end, rare and correct 15x5-inch Kelsey Hayes steel wheels with full wheel covers, NOS mufflers and all the correct hoses, clamps, chalk markings and more.

1966 CHEVROLET IMPALA CONVERTIBLE RARE 427/425 HP, 4-SPEED WITH POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND SOFT TOP

In 1966 big cars still ruled the American road, a fact driven home by Chevrolet’s production of over 1.3 million full size cars ranging from the baseline Biscayne to the new luxury Caprice. The SS package was still going strong across the Chevrolet model lineup, the best seller being the V-8 powered Impala convertible. In addition to over 60 factory options, Impala SS buyers could choose from five different engine displacements and five different transmissions. There was an Impala SS for every taste, but few were built to match the performance inherent in this

handsome Ermine White convertible, which issued from the factory with the new-for-1966 427 CI big block V-8. NASCAR fan favorite Mark Martin drove this Ginn Racing/DEI 2007 Monte Carlo to finish in second place at the 2007 Daytona 500 an almost imperceptible .02 second behind winner Kevin Harvick. Martin was leading the race in his U.S. Army-sponsored #01 Monte Carlo when Fortune intervened to once again rob him of victory in the most prized race in NASCAR. Martin, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle, David Gilliland and Elliott Sadler began the final lap nose to

tail, maintaining those positions until Harvick began gaining on the lead with a run on the outside. A wreck ensued right behind the pack as it exited Turn 4, and when NASCAR officials decided not to throw the yellow, Harvick beat Martin to the line by .02 second in one of the wildest finishes in Daytona 500 history.

1935 MORGAN THREE-WHEELER ROADSTER NO EXPENSE SPARED NUT AND BOLT RESTORATION WITH MINIMAL TEST MILES SINCE

A British motoring icon of the early 1930s, this 1935 Morgan F-4 three-wheeler has had homes in Hawaii, Northern California and Florida, where it was stored in a shed for approximately 10 years until a new owner took possession of it and treated it to a complete nut-and- bolt restoration to original as-new condition. The entire drive train including its Ford side-valve 4-cylinder engine was disassembled and received a full overhaul using new components as needed. All the Ash

for the frame was either refurbished or replaced in keeping with the car’s original construction. The wings, bonnet, and side panel were stripped bare and then worked to their present showroom condition, and the interior completed in tasteful Tan upholstery to add further flair to this already attention-grabbing British classic. The highly collectible 1939 Ford pickup was a pronounced departure from previous years, with more car-like styling in its longer fenders and the important addition of hydraulic brakes and a hot-water heater replacing the less efficient fresh-air unit. This stunning 1939 Ford pickup has been restored after complete disassembly to the last nut and bolt, and now boasts ultra-straight sheet metal cloaked in deep Gloss Black paint with Red pinstriping on both cab and tailgate and Red-and-Black painted steel wheels. 1953 CHEVROLET 3100 5-WINDOW PICKUP 235/105 HP, 3-SPEED, RECENTLY COMPLETED BODY-OFF RESTORATION

This stunning 1953 Chevrolet 3100 5-window pickup has just emerged from a complete body-off restoration to better-then-new show quality condition. After a complete dismantling, the frame and all its components were stripped and correctly repainted, and all sheet metal was rendered laser straight and individually sprayed with rich high-gloss Burgundy Maroon to match the original factory color. That gorgeous paint is highlighted by new chrome (abundantly used on the bumpers, window shades and trim, door handles, mirrors, hood emblem

With its aggressive new styling, toothy floating front grille and larger, more comfortable cab, the 1951 Ford F1 marked a new chapter in the company’s post-war line-up of “Bonus Built” trucks. Part of a dealer’s private collection, the beautiful 1951 F1 offered here is a well-equipped example featuring beautifully straight sheet metal beneath rich Ford Dark Blue paint contrasted with a rich varnished oak cargo bed and side rails. Attention to fit, finish and detail is evident throughout this F1, which rides on a cleaned, painted and detailed

This good-looking 1952 Chevrolet 5-window pickup has had a complete frame-up rebuild that included carefully refinishing all its sheet metal in bright Emerald Green with Ivory striping and refinishing its cargo bed floor and side rails in high gloss varnish to recapture their original glow. The interior has been likewise refinished as original and features full gauges, a Chevrolet pushbutton radio, traffic light indicator and heater. One of fewer than 300 built with the exotic Ram Air III 400/360 HP V-8, 4-speed manual and air conditioning, this 1970 Pontiac GTO was built very early in production and is documented with a build sheet that suggests it was ordered by a Pontiac factory executive. Expertly restored with extensive use of NOS parts by a lifelong Pontiac enthusiast and experienced GTO collector/restorer, it is finished as original in Starlight Black with a handsome Tan interior. The original Ram Air III engine was bored .030

over and new TRW forged pistons were installed on reconditioned rods, the rotating assembly was balanced and every clearance checked before final assembly. 1951 STUDEBAKER COMMANDER CONVERTIBLE 232/120 HP, 3-SPEED, OFFERED AT NO RESERVE

Studebaker’s fortunes were in the ascendant in the post war years, producing highly individualistic styling under the direction of Virgil Exner and Raymond Loewy, the latter of whom was responsible for automotive history’s most unique creations, the “bullet-nosed” front end that emphasized the 1950-51 lineup’s airplane-inspired New Look. Competition amongst the Big Three spawned numerous important engineering advances that prompted Studebaker to improve the car beneath its unique skin, introducing

coil spring front suspension and a new high-compression overhead valve V-8 engine that put Studebaker ahead of the pack. Even automotive journalist “Uncle Tom” McCahill gushed, “This powerplant transforms the maidenly Studie of recent years into a rip-roaring, hell-for-leather performer that can belt the starch out of practically every other American car.” Even so, an overdrive-equipped Commander won the 1951 Mobilgas Economy Run, averaging 28 MPG over 840 miles. A frame-off concept restoration by Rockstars and Custom cars of Orange City, FL, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle is that company’s idea of a Rally Sport version of Chevy’s popular mid-sized muscle machine in a fully Resto Modded car. A full range of upgrades have been performed with an eye toward high performance and drivability. An all-aluminum fuel-injected LS1 engine and computer-controlled 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission were installed along with a 12-bolt rear end, tubular A-arm front suspension and

Wilwood 4-wheel vented disc brakes, and Lizard Skin ceramic coatings used inside and below decks for increased comfort, protection and usability. Digital instrumentation is housed in a one-off aluminum dash insert that finishes the extensively customized yet classically-styled interior. A 500-plus photo documentation of the car’s restoration and custom features is included as well as a book of receipts; an itemized list of features, quality parts and work is also available. This is car number 001 of a planned

production Chevelle “RS” series with pending orders. This prototype was completed in late November 2012 and has received over 1800 miles of proven drivability while returning an average fuel mileage of 20 MPG. This 1969 Dodge Coronet convertible will be familiar to readers of Mopar Muscle Magazine, where it was the subject of numerous how-to articles during the course of its restoration by owner and MM Technical Editor Dave Young. The car was first introduced in the September 2005 issue, where it was used to test Detroit Locker’s new True Tech limited slip differential and Moser heavy duty axles and 4.30 gearset, laying down 0-60 times of 1.74 to 1.80 in the process and demonstrating the considerable power of its stroked 575HP big block

In a season marked by typically hot competition on the nation’s paved ovals and superspeedways, Bill Elliot joined Junior Johnson’s Budweiser-sponsored team to drive this 1992 NASCAR Ford Thunderbird. Elliot took the car to 3 poles and 5 wins, 4 of which he piled up in the four consecutive weeks that constituted the month of March, at Rockingham, Richmond, Atlanta and Darlington respectively. Promoted by sponsors Ford and Budweiser as the “Birds of Prey”, Elliot and his Thunderbird

1978 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ UNTOUCHED TIME CAPSULE WITH 51 ORIGINAL MILES

The final full-sized Cadillac Eldorado was built in 1978. To commemorate that milestone and bid farewell to the second generation body style, Cadillac partnered with American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) to develop 2000 special 1978 Eldorado Custom Biarritz Classic cars. The Custom Biarritz Classic was identical to the Custom Biarritz, with the exception of duo-tone pillowed leather interior in Light Beige and Dark Saddle, Dark Beige Leather steering wheel jacket, two-tone exterior finish in Arizona Beige with Demitasse Brown Metallic accents

1931 FORD MODEL A STREET ROD MAY 2012 HOT ROD MAGAZINE COVER CAR, DIESEL ENGINE

It took builder Jeff Madden about a year to transform his 1931 Ford Model A Fordor sedan into this extended-cab shortbed pickup truck that many will recognize from the front cover of the May 2012 issue of Hot Rod magazine. Madden began the project by placing the body and the Brookeville Roadster short pickup bed on the floor of his garage, shortening the cab until the proportions suited his eye and then building a frame to match. Perhaps the truck’s most unique feature is its Cummins 4BT turbodiesel engine, which originated in a Fritos delivery

truck and then served a tour of duty in Madden’s ex-Army tow truck before getting a thorough cleanup for its new digs. Backed by a 400 Turbo automatic and a 2.41 10-bolt rear axle, the bulletproof little Cummins returned 41 MPG during a trouble-free 6,000 mile trip Madden made with his son Kevin from Charleston, SC, to the Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Weeks and across another 21 states. The trip ended in Madden’s home town of Titusville, Pennsylvania, next to Oil Creek, where the truck got its name. It was the site of the first oil drill, and the

Oil Creek Petroleum Co. was a real company. Also featured in numerous other magazines and calendars, this homebuilt Retro Rebel has been has been invited to the 65th Annual Hot Rod Home Coming on March 23–24, 2013, at the Fairplex in Pomona, California.
