How are the Alternatives identified?

Alternatives provide a range of options for decision makers.– Alternatives show multiple ways to accomplish meeting our growth targets.– Not every possible alternative needs to be tested.– Must include a “No Action” (existing plan & regulations). Serves as baseline for

comparison of other alternatives. – Must evaluate 2 alternatives.– The final Comp Plan must be within the range of the alternatives evaluated.

Kirkland has enough development capacity to meet both its housing and employment targets.

Both Alternatives test the same levels of growth:– 8,361 new housing units– 22,435 new jobs

Growth Alternatives represent different ways to distribute growth throughout Kirkland.
