2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

2 Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.

Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Breaking It Down

(What?) Do NOT be conformed to this world!

Be transformed! (How?) by the renewing of your mind.

(Why?) So you will know what God wants you to do.

(What?) Do NOT be conformed to this world!

“But ‘everyone’ is doing ‘it’”—DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD!

“’That’ (God’s way) doesn’t make sense. No one does it ‘that’ (God’s way) way”—DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD!

“I did it ‘my’ way”—DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD!

GOD’S WAY

Isaiah 55:9  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways,And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Be transformed! (How?) by the renewing of your mind.

Isaiah 26:3  You will keep him in perfect peace,Whose mind is stayed on You,Because he trusts in You.

Colossians 3:2  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Be transformed! (How?) by the renewing of your mind.

Hebrews 8:10  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

1 Peter 4:1  Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

Be transformed! (How?) by the renewing of your mind.

Simple: Our minds can only be renewed by time spent in God’s Word and time spent in prayer.

John 14:26  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

(Why?) So you will know what God wants you to do.

We are not “saved” to just “sit” and be content that we have everlasting life. NO! We have a job to do!

Mark 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

1 John 2:15  Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

We MUST be Seasoned & Flavored SALT!

Matthew 5:13  “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Mark 9:49 “For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.

Mark 9:50 Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”

Life Application2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Our lifestyle will draw others to

Christ! John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from

the earth, will draw all men unto me. We lift up Christ by showing that the “old

man” has passed away and that we are crucified with Christ!

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
