Brian recommended that Brett Stubbs, past player, be recognised as a playing life member. 10
years and 150 games are the requirements for player life membership. Prior to 1993 records were
inconsistent for vacation cricket. This player has played 144 recorded games and has played 2
seasons of vacation cricket. Brian is confident that Brett has played at least the required 150 games
over a period of 13 years.

Chairman’s Report 2014/15
The Board
Starting off the 2014/15 season with the same core group of board members was a real bonus for
our Club and I look forward to the majority continuing in the coming season, with the addition of
needed new blood.
The new board members have accepted their responsibilities in learning the likes of cricket
management, clothing, sponsorship, bar work and much more. Our trusted Prez has continued to
steer the ship. Our group this season was busting at the seams to come up with fresh ideas and set
to follow that plan through.
The start of the season saw the introduction, after many years absence, of our golf day. Thanks so
much for the hard work done by Shane Holland and his crew to get this day started.
Another huge effort from all was the World Cup, with the Twin Ovals selected for the training venue
for both Scotland and Zimbabwe. We were very much all hands on deck catering for those teams.
Special thanks must go to Liz and Peter Dolan for their unbelievable work in the kitchen, which saw
them presented with Special service to the club awards at this year’s end of season dinner.
Also after a lot of hard work put in by Simon Burgess, Council agreed to assist with the installation of
solar panels on the roof of the function centre. This project will result in reducing our power bills
quite considerably.
Another function worthy of mention was the grand final luncheon, thought up and organized by Paul
Vincent - a great lead in to the Grand Final. The work he did in conjunction with his hard working
team was exceptional. To attract a big draw card in Merv Hughes to be the guest speaker capped of
a fantastic day.
I must also mention the life membership awarded to Edna Pennicott for her many years of service to
the club, a well-deserved award.
I can’t finish this section of my report without mentioning the work by our financial wizard in Helen
Coad for her organization of the end of season dinner, thought by many to be the best yet.
Thank you so much Helen for those countless nights of organization.
On the Turf
Without doubt, it has been one of the most successful years I have seen at the club for a very long
time.
Congratulations to 1st Grade, U/17 and U/15 teams for their fantastic grand final wins. Well done to
the teams and coaches for their efforts throughout the season. Congratulations are also extended to
the Women’s team who just missed out on a place in the finals and the 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade
11
teams, who unfortunately lost their Grand Finals after stellar seasons. Our U/17 girls in their first
season of cricket also just missed out on making their grand final as well.
The combined efforts of all our teams resulted in KDCC winning the Club Championship by over 100
points – a record we believe.
To all our State Representatives in season 2014/15 we pass on our congratulations, in particular to
Beau Webster, Clive Rose and Jackson Bird who had good seasons with the Tassie Tigers.
KDCC has always been lucky enough to have state representation, and with our Junior Academy again
being able to continue into its 3rd year, thanks largely to the generous sponsorship provided by Peter
Sanders from Adapt Australia, should enable us to continue to produce players to compete at the
very top level.
The ones that get missed
Again thank you so much to our famous “Roll Patrol” led by Jane Martyn and Vikki Coulson. They
continually turned up every Saturday morning without fail to make our weekend rolls to sell.
Thank you so much for everyone that helped out in the scoring department during the season right
from the juniors up. Parent participation is the only way a club like ours survives; it makes it so much
easier knowing that is one less position the coach and board have to chase up on the day.
Thanks also to Bryce Turnbull for his continued efforts keeping our website up to date; it gives the
club that professional edge, along with all finding out what is happening around the club.
Chris Hay and his loyal team must again be congratulated for the work they have put in to getting the
wickets to such an advanced state. As mentioned above, the positive match reports received on the
centre wicket and outfield have given us one of the highest rankings in the competition.
The Council as a whole, has been such a huge help to the board. Daniel Smee and staff have always
been there to listen and to fix to the best of their ability, any issues that would come up during the
season.
I would like to also thank Andrea Dare and Brian Mitchell for putting this report together. Brian’s
work through the year with his stats and end of year help with the dinner is again very much
appreciated.
I cannot thank enough, Phil Scott for his continued efforts behind the bar all year. A special thank you
is reserved for our retiring Vice President Mark Drake. With increased work commitments, Mark is
standing down. His unbelievable work ethic and mateship will be sorely missed and we look forward
to seeing him back on board in the future. I’m sure he will still be contributing in some way to the
club.
In finishing I would like to thank all members of the Board of Management for their commitment and
contributions to the club. There is nothing more satisfying than working with such a committed
group, all striving for the betterment of our great club.

Head Coach Report
Season 2014/2015 was certainly a record breaking year for the playing group.
Given that our on-field fortunes ‘bottomed out’ just two seasons ago, the rebuild and subsequent
success that has been achieved is a direct reflection on the development, maturity, determination,
character and talent of our playing list. Are we surprised by our achievements? No, not in the
slightest; good fortune is achieved when preparation and opportunity meet!
Our playing group and coaching staff are well aware of what it takes to achieve and maintain the
high standards that have been set. The challenge is now before us to raise the bar even further in
the coming season.
I would like to thank the cricket committee and the board as a whole for their unwavering support
of myself. By entrusting me to restructure and rebuild our playing group, we certainly hope that we
have set a strong foundation for sustained success.
To the players, captains and fellow coaches; be very proud of your achievements but certainly take
the time to reflect on what has been achieved and the processes that have been put in place to
achieve them. I thank you all for your efforts and commitment to implement our game plan.
Regards,
Tim Scott

Chairman of Selectors Report
It was privilege to be back involved with the Kingborough District Cricket Club (KDCC) as Chairman
of Selectors for the 2014/2015 season. Made even more enjoyable from the success on and off the
playing field.
I would like to specifically acknowledge and thank the KDCC board who supported myself and the
fellow selectors in all decisions and selections which was important in ensuring the success we
achieved on the field even if it meant some challenging conversations off it!
I would also like to thank my fellow selectors and coaches who were outstanding in their
commitment, passion and patience with our methodical processes in ensuring we had the teams
required for each grade to ensure we met our selection policy agreements of:
1. Provide a pathway for cricketers to succeed by developing a culture of individual and team
excellence
13
2. Produce players to help Tasmania win Domestic competitions and ultimately produce
Australian players
3. Produce young cricketers to ensure that Tasmanian cricket remains strong into the future
4. Produce cricketers to ensure KDCC and it region remain the sport of choice
5. Position our playing group and governance structure effectively with the focus of achieving
finals appearances for all teams
I am confident that as a selection panel we value added to the KDCC culture to ensure
accounatbility, commitmnet, loyalty and passion was evident in every player who represented the
KDCC for the 2014/15 season and beyond.
Finally to the players, congratulations on your club championship, team and individual successes. A
key ingredient to our success was everybody’s loyalty to the ‘club is bigger than the individual
mentality”. Your openness to feedback and acceptance of difficult decisions was testament to your
character as an individual and your commitment to live our KDCC values of RESPECT, COURAGE,
MATESHIP & COMMITMENT.

Overview Milo and T20 Blast At the youngest end of the club there are once again some very positive signs. The high numbers participating in Milo in2Cricket and T20 Blast represents the large numbers of children and parents in our region. Thank you to the efforts of High Performance Cricket staff and Kingborough senior players Thomas Martyn and Callum Rawson, who, for another season, ensured the smooth running of the program. Also thanks to all players and parents who assisted with the activities and modified games.
Grade 4/5 and 5/6 Twilight Cricket A huge thank you to the efforts of Tim Scott (4/5 coach), Dom Baker (4/5 team manager), Heath Lovell (5/6 coach), and Andrew Lyons (5/6 team manager) with their respective teams this season. Both sides contain plenty of promising talent for the Knights future.
U/13 A huge thank you to the efforts of Ben Harrison who coached the U/13 group this season. This is a very young group full of talent and enthusiasm.
15
U/15 Youth A huge thank you to the efforts of Jon Lister who coached the U/15 youth group this season. Also a thank you to all parents that helped out umpiring and scoring. The majority of the boys have been playing with each other since Twilight Cricket and have a close bond. It is unfortunate the our U/15 group is so strong as most of our youth team would be capable of playing Premier League at most other clubs.
U/15 Premier League A huge thank you to the efforts of Marc Owen who coached the boys for a second season. Marc not only coached the U/15 Premier League side to a back to back premiership, he also conducted training sessions with Jon Lister for all of the U/15 boys. The U/15 Premier team showed maturity well above their age group. Some of the boys are U/13 playing above their age group. We had a handful of boys who were picked in the U/13, U/14 and U/15 Emerging Tigers teams. Thank you to the efforts of Connor O’Brien who captained the team and Josh Pride who was vice captain. We look forward to continue supporting the development of junior cricketers at the Knights in the future. Jackie Vincent Junior Development Officer

1st Grade Captain’s Report
The 2014/2015 season began as an exciting prospect for the Kingborough Knights, with continuous
improvement displayed over the past season as well as the inclusion of a few new faces to the club
and it was a pleasure to welcome back some old friends.
Making an early start to a big pre-season, it was clear early on with the commitment shown by our
core playing group, that we had big plans for the season.
Unlike previous seasons, we started the year strongly and found ourselves on top of the
competition where we remained for the whole season. We had recognised the T20 games were
massively important to getting our season on track, with so many games in a short time and the
points allocated for them. Knowing that a slow start to the T20 games would see us chasing our
tails as we had done in previous years, so to find ourselves in the T20 final had not only given us a
chance at some early silverware but had given us a great start to the season. Although we were
pretty disappointing on the day, the Knights were on the march.
Starting the second half of the season after the Christmas break where we had left off, we found
ourselves in the Kookaburra Cup final. Again we weren’t quite up to the mark and were beaten on
the day. We had been playing very good cricket up until this stage but we let ourselves down pretty
badly.
Losing only one regular match after Christmas, we went into the semis with form and momentum
but without our two main “quicks” in Bird & Frietag. We had spoken all year about wanting to play
tough cricket but time for talking was over. I was very proud of the way we stood up to a strong
SHSB side, one of the toughest games, if not the toughest I’ve played in. We didn’t give them an
inch but for one bad hour on the second day we found ourselves in a hole we could probably not
climb out of … probably. 6/115 chasing 285 with two new batters at the crease, I then witnessed
what our team had worked towards all year, in belief and mental toughness shown by Rose (105*)
and Lovell(85*) in the best partnership I’ve ever seen to chase the total 6 down.
Grand final. This is what we had the radar set on since the start of the pre-season. Up against a very
good University side, we bowled first on as batter friendlier wicket as you will ever find. We rolled
our sleeves up and fought hard for 120 overs in the field, to eventually bowl them out for 360. We
got to see one of the country’s best bowlers at work, in Jackson Bird taking a well-earned 7 wickets.
With 44 overs to bat on the second day of the 3 day final, Shelton and Rollins dug in. They got in
behind anything a first class Uni attack could dish up to them and got us through to stumps
undamaged. Another tick for the tough cricket we now demand of ourselves. 0\90 overnight. We
got ourselves to 3\180 at lunch and in a very strong position to chase down the total. Then came
the rain, with the game eventually being abandoned at 5pm.
Kingborough Knights 2014\15 premiers. It was not the ideal way to win but it was something we
had earned throughout the season with our consistent cricket.
We are good team, the best in the state but I think we can still be at least 10% better and will be
within the next 12-24 months as long as we all keep working hard together.
17
In a team where everyone did their job and played their part towards our eventual success, it would
be wrong not to mention a few.
Beau Webster continued his rise into the first class arena this season on the back of consistent big
performances for the Knights. We witnessed him grow as a cricketer and dramatically as a leader at
our club.
Nathan Frietag came across to us from Melbourne this year and is as big a reason for our success
this year as anyone. He was very unlucky to pick up a severe back injury late in the year and miss
having a red hot crack at the finals. Big wickets and big runs when we needed them.
Clive Rose again was outstanding for us every time he played. We didn’t get to see a lot of him due
to state duties but when we did it was always special. 105 not out in the semi is the best knock I’ve
ever seen.
Brad Lovell is a skipper’s worst nightmare on one hand and match winner on the other. He does
what he wants! He also won us a several games as well. His 180 run stand with Clive was something
very special but he also took 5 wickets that game, which most have forgotten.
Jackson Bird finally got his licence this year. We saw even less of him this year than we did, but
what we did see was a class above; Roger Woolley medallist for his 7 wickets in the final. Winning
the gift deserves a mention as well!
Brady Jones was once the Prince of Kingston. Brady was unable to train much this year due to other
commitments but still proved to be a match winner when we needed him. I have no doubt he could
be playing big bash cricket and was also crowned the best fielder at the club.
Last but not least I need to mention all the hard work of our head coach, Tim Scott. , for the last
two years, has had nothing but success planned for the Knights. His commitment to the club and his
players is second to none. We can’t thank you enough Tige.
One last thank you to all of our volunteers. This great club would not be what it is without you all.
Thank You.
2nd Grade Captain’s Report
I have tried really hard not to think about cricket since we lost the 2nd grade grand final. I haven’t
wanted to go back to the feeling of disappointment we all felt as we sat in the rooms at the KGV
contemplating what could have been. So much so that I left writing this report until the very last
minute (sorry Andrea!).
There are way more positive things to write about on the 2nd grade season than negative but I will
start with the grand final loss.
It was such a shame we couldn’t get the job done, we had done so much right all season. We were
a really close knit group which is really a reflection on the club as a whole. We had no one to blame
but ourselves, we had our chances but got beaten by a gutsy and more experienced Glenorchy side.
For me it was a reminder of how tough cricket is, it doesn’t owe you anything. To win a grand final
18
you need to take your chances, we didn’t. You need to be tough and ruthless right until the end, we
weren’t. To me it is so important that all the guys who played in that loss understand where we
went wrong. To remember those periods where we were on top, those moments where we had our
chances, the opportunity to fight back that we didn’t take. Those periods, moments and
opportunities will present themselves again to you all throughout your career and you must be
ready for them and you must look forward to them. I hope you all learnt a lot from that game, I
certainly did.
Looking at the season as a whole for 2nd grade it was really positive and should still be viewed as
successful. We finished the home and away season on top of the ladder with 11 wins and a draw
from 14 games. We won a semi-final in convincing fashion and we saw the continued development
of several of the clubs young talented cricketers. It was also pleasing to see 2nd grade players
putting pressure on for first grade spots right throughout the season.
I thought the depth we had at 2nd grade level played a key role to our season. Players had to really
earn their spots in the team as there was constant pressure coming from below. At times I felt we
could have fielded two 2nd grade sides that could both play finals.
From an individual aspect I would like to acknowledge some of our players. Riley Backhouse came
on in leaps and bounds this season winning the 2nd grade association best and fairest. Riley had a
fantastic season as an all-rounder and will only improve going forward. Well done to Jesse
Hemmingway for taking out our own best player award voted by the players and also the bowling
award. Sam Martyn took out the 2nd grade batting award. Sammy backed himself and played with
good intent all season. Matthew Coad had the most dismissals for the entire 2nd grade competition
(30) and was a deserved winner of the fielding award.
I reckon you could argue that there has never been a better time to be a Kingborough Knight,
certainly in my time. The board and the coaching team lead by Tiger have created a fantastic
inclusive culture and this is much easier said than done. On top of this the young cricketers of our
community have outstanding facilities and a professional program to become the best cricketer
they can possibly be. I often find myself wishing I was 18 or 19 again coming through with all the
young guys I captained the past 2 seasons.
Well done to the first grade side on winning the premiership, a great result for everyone involved
right throughout the club. Well done also to the under 17s and under 15s.
Special thanks from me to Tim Scott and the board for allowing me to undertake the role of 2nd
grade captain. I have been extremely lucky to hold this position the last two seasons given my
limited availability throughout the season. In many ways it is a very simple role. The coaching staff
lead by Tim Scott have formed very clear guidelines for the players to follow and my role was to
ensure this was adhered to at 2nd grade level. I thought the buy in from the 2nd grade playing group
was outstanding and I can see the benefits from this growing year on year.
Thank you to the players who played in 2nd grade this season. I enjoyed your company so much and
felt very fortunate to play alongside you all and watch your development. Good luck to you all going
forward.
Ribbs.

3rd Grade Captain’s Report
Despite a constantly changing line-up, the KDCC 3rd grade side was the dominant force in their competition throughout the season. The team formed a fantastic bond between the players and, as a result, played some excellent cricket to complete the roster season undefeated. After probably our best performance of the season in the Semi Final, we were unable to continue our unbeaten run in the Grand Final, going down to South Hobart / Sandy Bay who we had previously had two very close battles with during the season. However disappointing the final result was, I would implore all members of the team to be extremely proud of what we did achieve, but most importantly to head into next season with the simple goal of continued improvement. I feel the highlight of the 3rd grade season was the excellent Semi Final win against Clarence. After being under early pressure on day one, two excellent batting partnerships were produced, displaying patience, hard work and great intensity. However the middle and lower order failed to capitalise on the solid platform, eventually being dismissed for 240. Clarence made the most of a short period before stumps, taking advantage of some wayward bowling. Overnight the Knights re-grouped and following a stirring speech by the club games record holder, they hit the ground running in the first session taking some key wickets. The disciplined bowling and excellent pressure in the field continued after the break and Clarence were defeated. A stirring club song rendition followed! If the 3rd grade team can build on this performance going into the new season, we will be heading in the right direction. Our best performance was undoubtedly followed by our most disappointing effort the following week. The patience and intensity shown with the bat the previous week was not displayed and we lost five wickets, in regretful fashion, throughout the first session. This would prove to be the difference in the match, as our bowlers again showed discipline and a high level of consistency to put us right back in the contest at stumps on day one, only for S.H./S.B. to sneak across the line the next morning. I was personally very proud of the effort shown by all of the Kingborough players after the first session of the match; they continued to fight in the right spirit until the very last ball on day two. Other highlights for the team throughout the season include a comeback win in round one, against eventual premier South Hobart / Sandy Bay, led with ball in hand by Harry Bradburn and Luke Hoggett. Matthew Bigwood also filled up his highlight reel against University by taking 5 for 8 from 7.2 overs as we routed the opposition for just 30. In the rematch with Uni, Blair Harrison scored a fantastic unbeaten century as the top order all contributed in a total of 3 for 301. John Coombes was the only other to notch three figures for the season, against Glenorchy in round 3. In round 13 we had another close contest with S.H./S.B., defeating them by two wickets. After a great bowling performance from Bradburn and Kyle Wisniewski, Jack Bowerman along with Bradburn and Bigwood put together valuable lower order partnerships to get us the win. From an individual achievements point of view, our bowlers were ultra-consistent over the course of the season. Harry Bradburn (30 wickets), Matthew Bigwood (22), Lincoln Street (18), Kyle Wisniewski (18), Murray Burgess (16) and Luke Hoggett (15) all ensured that I was never short of options when in the field. Street, although involved in only 4 games, returned excellent figures of 7 for 71 and 6 for 19 in his haul of wickets, while Wisniewski also impressed taking 5 for 45 and 5 for 58. The steep improvement shown by Bradburn, Hoggett and Burgess undoubtedly was one of the reasons for our tremendous season. With the bat Blair Harrison (322 runs), John Coombes (270), myself (268), Liam
20
Perryman (253), Jack Bowerman (245), Callum Rawson (200) and Tom Martyn (173) all spread the load evenly delivering major contributions over the roster season and semi-final. At different stages during the season we also saw a glimpse of the future for the Kingborough Knights, with youngsters such as Rhys & Liam Ward, Toby Cowen and Henry Prichard all making significant contributions when they were selected to play. I can guarantee the club is well placed for the future with young talent like this developing over the next few seasons! Finally I would like to say a big thanks to all of the people who helped and supported us throughout the season. Simon Burgess was ever-present manning the scorebook and also providing us with the only electronic scoreboard in Third Grade! Mark Drake unsurprisingly was also a massive help with organising and logistics as well as manning the scorebook. I would also like to thank the family members who came along to support us most weeks, even making the trek out to Pontville on a number of occasions. Your support does not go unnoticed and we greatly appreciate it! I’m sure all of the players would join me in also thanking the Board and Coaching staff, especially Tiger for his never ending contributions, advice, motivation and backing. My last word would be that I have thoroughly enjoyed the season gone and regardless of whether I’m in the same position next season, I look forward with great anticipation to see the continued improvement in the group as a whole and each of the team members individually. Women’s Captain’s Report
I'd like to start by thanking Mary Waldron for her time and commitment to the girls, hope it was an
enjoyable experience. Overall the season was okay; unfortunately we missed the finals this year but
we showed some promising signs for the future. Emily Lawson and Louisa Jacobson both had
successfully seasons and are proving to be handy players. We have plenty of young girls coming
through the U/17s which is a good sign for the future, with a number of young girls making there
playing debut with the women's side. I would like to thank Johanna Jones for her ongoing work in all
areas off the field. We will welcome back senior player Emily Divin next season and Bryce Turnbull is
taking over as Women's coach. I'm looking forward to seeing more positive results on and off the
field. I would like to thank the club, our sponsors and supporters for your ongoing support for our
girls. With your support I'm sure we will continue to see positive results from the women's program.

U17 Captain’s Report
The 2014/2015 season was a powerfully comprehensive one by the Kingborough Knights U/17
playing group, regaining the flag off last year’s Grand Final opponent in Clarence. Like the 3 grades
before us, we had an extremely successful year with both the bat and the ball.
As captain it was very pleasing to experience a team of deep talent perform at the level we did, the
results are self-explanatory. By Christmas, 8 games into the season our record read 5-3, in full
knowledge that we weren’t playing our best cricket. The latter half of our season was forceful, not
losing a game, mounting us strongly for the finals onslaught. Going into the Grand Final, I believe
we were a better side than at the same time last year, the team’s chemistry was at its peak. A lot of
this comes down to our coach Nathan Freitag, who not only was extremely mentoring to me as a
captain, but also embedded the winning competitive edge to our side.
The Grand Final against Clarence was a completely dominant display from our playing group.
Making 8/312 (dec) we believed we were unstoppable from this position. Our bowling was
impeccable, dismissing Clarence for a total of 52, and having them again 2/67 before calling a game.
To win a Grand Final so convincingly I think is a remarkable achievement, full credit to every
member of the team who contributed thoroughly throughout the year. Alex Vincent was seemingly
a class above on the big stage, notching 120 and 4/17, and deserved man of the match. Liam Ward
was also brilliant, with an aggressive 58 in the middle order and 4/6 with the ball.
In my opinion, the balance between success of bat and ball was excellent. We were the number 1
ranked side for wickets taken, and 2nd for runs scored. This shows the consistency as a team
through individual performance. I think both Alex Vincent and Toby Cowen are to be awarded for
22
their impressive all round seasons. Alex compiled a total of 684 runs at 57 and Toby 588 at 42.
Furthermore between them 39 wickets were taken. Liam and Rhys Ward showed their immense
talent with the new ball, Liam taking 25 wicket at an average of 9.52 and Rhys 23 wickets at 11.
Lochie Griggs had a breakout season, proving his dangerous left arm spin taking 24 wickets at 9.92
I would like to thank coach Nathan Freitag, readily assisted by Paul Vincent for their commitment to
taking this team to the success we encountered. To the extended coaching staff led by Tim Scott,
you are what drive the success, a massive thank you for your direct support to the club, your time
and efforts are greatly appreciated. Also to Sarah Ward for endless scoring, a big commitment with
little reward, thank you. To all my players, it has been a pleasure to captain such a talented side,
and I wish incoming players all the best in their endeavours. Good luck for the upcoming season,
which I hope provides the same success experienced in the 2014/2015 campaign.

U/15 Coach’s Report
After winning the 2013/14 U/15 premiership, our boys were again the team to beat this season
with all of our opposition in the competition wanting to knock us off week in week out.
We had around 30 boys during the season performing well in both Premier League and Youth
League, making it difficult on occasions for the selectors to choose a team. Everyone who played
contributed well and played their roles well as required.
23
We worked on our batting and bowling during the year but it was pleasing to hear from other
coaches that they thought we were the best fielding side in the comp.
Josh pride (9c, 6st and 5 run outs) and Zachary Adams (9c & 2 run outs) were amongst the best. 23
team run outs and not many dropped catches highlighted the boys’ hard work on the training track.
We had some great batting partnerships with Will Poland (313) Mitchell Owen (280) and Connor
Obrien (231) amongst the runs. The leading bowlers were Joshua Henley (22) Jacob Downie (16)
and Blake Scullthorpe (14).
Individual results were recognized as Josh Henley and Will Poland cleaned up at the TCA for the
MVP and batting awards respectively.
Connor O’Brien did a fantastic job in leading the boys and was well assisted by Josh Pride and Will
Poland during the season.
Our support from the parents was great, not only on training nights, but we quite often packed the
stands out on game days as well to cheer the boys on.
Special thanks to Andrew Henley for being assistant coach and scoring every week.
We will be taking a special interest in how the older boys perform in U/17s next season and wish
the boys staying in U/15s this season all the best with their new roles and responsibilities.
Premiers 2013/14 & 2014/15
It would be great to add a hatrick 2015/16 to that cup.
Good signs for the future with some promising juniors coming through the ranks at the mighty
Kingborough Knights.

OBITUARIES
Sadly the KDCC lost 2 of its past Club Captains in 2014 when team mates Geoff Knott and Ray Heffernan
passed away.
VALE GEOFF KNOTT (1932 - 2014) The KDCC lost a valuable member of its “Team of the Century” last year when Geoff succumbed to cancer. Geoff Knott grew up in the Snug and soon showed his sporting prowess as both a footballer and a cricketer. At the end of the 1954/55 season he was asked to come up to the big smoke and fill in for the KDCC 2nd Grade Team. He performed so well and made such a good impression he was immediately recruited the following year to play 1st Grade cricket for our club. In those days Geoff had no mode of transport so fellow players like Don Randell and Ray Stringer took turns to drive down to Snug to pick him up and then drive Geoff to wherever the team was playing. Geoff then played 10 straight seasons with the Borough as the opening bowler and late order batsman. “Ginger” Knott was a tall gangling right arm quick bowler who quickly made a name for himself as a top line TCA quick. Geoff was also a handy left hand lower order batsman. He represented the South against both the North (NTCA) and the North West (NWTCA) and was named in Kingborough’s Team of the Century in 2001. Geoff was a very popular and respected player and in 63/64 he captained the Club. In late 1965 Geoff moved house to live in Howrah and he was forced to play for Clarence because it was district cricket at the time. He played a further 5 years in 1st grade and finished his career as a 40 year old 2nd Grade player for Clarence. He always considered himself to be a Kingborough man and was always present at KDCC functions for the best part of 40 years following his playing career. His playing career was as follows Results by Grade

VALE Ray Heffernan (1936 – 2014) Our Club also lost another Club Captain last year when former State player Ray Heffernan passed away. Ray started his long playing career with the Glenorchy Club in 1953 and was a leading player for them playing in five 1st Gd Premierships in 8 years. Ray transferred to Kingborough in 1961 and captained the club in the next 2 years. Following a stint in Perth WA he rejoined Glenorchy in the mid 60’s. He again moved to the KDCC in 1969 and played the remaining 6 years of his career with us. Along with his 5 Glenorchy premierships he top scored with 92 in helping the Borough win the 1971/72 1st Gd Premiership. Ray was the first appointed Club Coach back in 1971 and took the Club from the bottom of the pile (All 3 grades finished last in 70/71) to the top in just one year with the KDCC 2nd Gd team also winning the TCA Premiership in 1971/72 and the 3rd Gd Team finishing 4th. Ray played a number of times for Tasmania during the late 50’s and early 60’s but he was best remembered for his selfless character. He was a fine State batsman, useful leg spinner and also kept wickets for both Clubs when a specialist keeper was not around. A very humble, generous and wonderful human being. His brother Wayne also played 1st Gd for the KDCC in 1974/75 His son John also played a handful of 1st Gd games for KDCC in his 5 years with the Club Ray Heffernan All Matches, All Grades, Kingborough, 24-Oct-1961 to 02-Mar-1976 For KDCC 1st Gd For GDCC 1st Gd Total Scored 2890 runs Scored 2503 Runs @ Ave 26.6 5,393 Runs Took 94 wickets Took 4 wickets 98 wickets Took 86 catches Took 73 catches 159 catches
