Dear families,
We hope you are all well and keeping busy. Every teacher looks forward to the time that we are back in class again, learning and having fun together. Until that time, we are
putting together a weekly packet of new learning opportunities. It is the goal of the Ferndale School District to provide meaningful tasks to allow your child to continue
learning grade level standards. Using the same schedule shared before, we have created
packets with an increased expectation that your child completes the work. Please encourage them to do their best and complete all activities. These are connected to the
online links and resources provided by the grade level team, if you’re able to access them. If not, just have your child complete the pages attached.
During this global pandemic, we feel strongly as a district that taking care of our families
is the most important thing we can do. While organized by day of week, please do what works for your family’s needs. Please do not let this work packet become a struggle or
an issue. If your child is struggling, please reach out to their teacher.

possible, share the weekly reflection page (or any page) with your child’s teacher by whatever
method you have been communicating.
Take care,

April 13 - April 17, 2020

Dear families,
An important skill for your child to continue working on in the coming
weeks is writing. In Kindergarten we have mainly been writing personal
narratives, which are real life stories about experiences your child has
had.
These are the skills your child should be practicing in their writing:
*forming each letter correctly
*leaving a space after every word
*starting every sentence with a capital letter and using lowercase
letters to finish the sentence – except for the word I and names.
*using the correct punctuation at the end of every sentence ( . ? ! )
*correctly spelling high frequency words
*using our strategies to sound out words and write the sounds they
hear
*writing stories with at least two sentences, and preferably more, to
tell the beginning and the end of a story
*adding details
On the back of this paper is a complete list of our Kindergarten high
frequency words. These are words that your child should know by the
end of Kindergarten. Please make sure that you child is spelling these
words correctly in their writing. Please keep this list somewhere handy
so that your child can refer to it when they are working on their
writing. Thank- you!

play different instruments and have someone guess what
they are.
Go on a walk or ride a bike for at least 20
minutes.
