Connect - Grow - Bridge

A Reminder from the Stewardship Board Today, we will be collecting a special offering for ECCCM as part of our Harvest Home efforts. You have multiple options for giving to this cause: 1. You may put cash or a check in designated offering plates/baskets at the entrances of either the church or the gym. 2. Use a pew envelope to make an above and beyond gift to the work of ECCCM. 3. Designate “Missions” and the associated amount on your offering envelope for this one day offering. All mission gifts received today will go to ECCCM. Corner Table groups serve at 10:30am: Souper Stars – December 2nd, Sonshiners – November 20th ECCCM is always in need of cashiers to work in the store. If you can help, please call Allen Sherrill at 828-464-1702 ext. 116.

It is time for us to collect coats, hats, and gloves for Highways & Hedges “Share the Warmth” coat drive. Please place clean, lightly used items in the collection boxes.

The Lutheran Layman’s League (LLL) will have its annual Steak Supper on Saturday, December 7th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Tickets go on sale TODAY. Get your tickets early as they usually sell out! See any LLL member or contact the church or school office to purchase tickets.

Our last set of doors, office entrance at the Emmaus Room, has been changed to the new key system. See Leslie in the church office to be issued a new key.

News from the Call Committee Members of Concordia: As you may have heard, your Call Committee received its 3rd list of Candidate Pastors from our District office last Sunday (11/3). Since then our Circuit Visitor - Pastor Lagoutine - has been contacting each Pastor on the list confirming his openness to a Call. As he is expected to complete this during the week, your Call Committee is already planning to meet and resume the interview process. Obviously with Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas activities for everyone concerned, we are optimistic but realistic about our chances of completing the scope of interviews, forums and holding a Call Service before the end of the year. We are aware of and support the Congregational desire to Call a new Pastor, and as we prayerfully proceed on God's path before us, we thank you all for your continued prayers and support.

Last Call for Soccer Ball donations. We have pumps and pins. Concordia Kids want to include a soccer ball in each shoe box. Kids in Kenya, Africa make their own soccer balls from plastic bags and tape. We want to send them real soccer balls. $5 donations appreciated. Contact Belinda Bost for more information.

PrimeTimers, remember, we do not meet this Monday the 11th at 11:30 AM due to Monday being Veterans Day. We will meet Tuesday, November 12th at 11:30 AM at Parkway House Restaurant at 11:30 AM. We hope this rescheduling does not interfere with anything you had planned. The Parkway House Restaurant is located at 1640 10th Ave. NE Hickory. We Salute and thank all Veterans for their service to our country to help make this country free and great as it is. Next month’s meeting is on December 9th at 11:30 AM for a potluck luncheon with musical entertainment by Rose Jackson from Lexington, NC. As we prepare for the day of Thanksgiving on November 28th, shouldn't we make every day a day of thanks and praise to God?

Family Faith Walk : Patience! Christain parenting involves much patience. Isn’t it a blessing that God is patient with us? He forgives us, even when we repeat the same wrongs over and over again. God patiently works in our lives through the work of the Holy Spirit, teaching us through His Word and guiding us along the way.

Stretch your faith –filled parenting: In your prayers ask for patience. When you think you are about to lose your cool, take a minute , rewind, take a long deep breath then move foreward with whatever you were doing. We know that we cannot deal with life’s stresses by ourselves. Pray together as a family for patience with one another. Patience is often tested in our own homes. All of us can say, “Please be patient. God isn’t finished with me yet!”

We Pray; Patient Christ, move me to draw on the Spirit’s fruit of patience, especaillly when that gift is wearing thin in my life. Remind me how patinet you are with me. In Your blessed name. Amen Source : Mustard Seed Faith-Filled Parenting 2009 LWML
