What We Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is

not simply random text. It has roots

in a piece of classical Latin

literature from 45 BC, making

it over 2000 years old.

Richard McClintock,

a Latin professor at

Hampden-Sydney

College in Virginia,

looked up one of

the more obscure

Latin words, con-

sectetur, from a Lorem

Ipsum passage, and go-

ing through the cites of the

word in classical literature,

discovered the undoubt-

able source. Lorem Ipsum

comes from sections

1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of

“de Finibus Bonorum

et Malorum” (The

Extremes of Good and

Evil) by Cicero, written

Kid Power kids sh o w remrkab le leadership skills both ins i d

Service Learning Projects

Summer CampStaff members travel to seven

elementary school across the DC area to engage our youth in after-school enrichment activities. This includes

and hour of homework help, academic games, and

enrichment projects focusing on cultural heritage, civic engagement,

and leadership skills.

Kid Power provides pro-gramming for

students even when school is out with their annual Summer Camp.

Students choose between four core

activities-- art, music & dance, science, and

government-- and participate in six weeks of classes, games, field

trips and projects.

Kid Power partners with Sidwell Friends and Georgetown Day School

to provide volunteers and weekly mentoring opportunities between

Kid Power students and High Schoolers.

Kid Power students participate in a year-long service learning project to help undestand what it means to support and give back to the communities they come from. Projects are chosen by the students themselves, and range from helping the homeless to protecting the environment.
