Kicking the Lenovo Y510 ass!!!OR taking it apart, replacing the broken hinges, and returning everything in place

(hopefully).

No ©opyrights, No w@rranty.

Step 1) Remove battery and unplug it from anything.

Step 2) Remove the indicators/media panel.

Use flat screwdriver to pop it out. Now be gentle with it, pry from all sides until it is in the air. It connected to the motherboard with three (as far as I remember) ribbons. Release the ribbons by pulling out their security block and then pull out the ribbon. Got regular sockets? Pull them out by little force.

Step 2) Turn it over and unscrew everything.

Use Philips screwdriver. It got lot of different types of screws down there. NOTE to yourself which one came from where.

Remove all the covers and the CD. Unscrew all what is holding the cover.

Use this chance to clean your CPU vent and blow all the fur balls from the heat sinks.

Step 3) Turn it again and let the keyboard go.

Sorry for no taking pic here. There are three silvered screws above the keyboard that are holding it in place. Take them out and push the keyboard towards the screen. Again, be gentle, there is a ribbon down there.

Step 3) Slice it.

To remove the top cover, you need to unscrew another one guy that hided under the keyboard and turn it again and using flat screwdriver to press a plastic teeth in the battery house. Then prying around the cover will make it open. Again there are things connected…

Now you got access to the down half of the hinges. Be patient and wait with their removal.

Notice torn wireless antennas cables. You might like not to torn them more then what they are already. You defiantly don't want to torn the screen and the cam cables.

Step 4) Dissing the screen.

The screen screws are hided under patches. Remove the patches using a very thin flats screwdriver or a razor. Remove the glossy down plate covering the screen's hinge axels by popping it out with flat screwdriver. Carefully please.

Now slide the screen down and take it out.

Step 5) Solder the torn cables.

Step 6) Replace the broken hinges with the new ones. I think it is better if you will place them both in the screen side, reassemble the screen and then put the body side.

Step 7) Put everything back in place and enjoy.
