Objective I want to continue my scientific career by pushing further towards the scientific research.

At the same time, I want to enhance my experience in teaching and to improve my skills in communication with the craduate/undergraduate students. Furthermore, I’m intended to establish a new regime for enhancing structural integrity and adding smart actuators to increase passenger safety.

Education Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) University of Concordia, Montreal, Canada 2011 Thesis titled: “Investigation of an Adaptable Crash Energy Management System to Enhance Vehicle Crashworthiness” GPA: 3.55

Master of Mechanical Engineering (MSc.) Military Technical College, Cairo, Egypt 2003

Thesis titled: “Vehicle Body Structural Analysis” GPA: 3.83/4

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Military technical College Cairo, Egypt, 1987-1992 Grade: V. Good With Honors, GPA: 3.29

Experience

Since I graduated in 1992, I worked as a mechanical engineer in the Egyptian Armed Forces’ units. I have expertise in repairing and maintainace different types of vehicles. I started my academic career in 1998 when I registered for the Master degree at the M.T.C. Then, I applied for the Armed Forces Scholarship to get my Doctoral degree from the University of Concorida in Canada in 2008. I got my PhD award in 2011. In addition, I’m involved in several administrative fields in the Armed Force include participating in different technical reseraches and working with spare parts acquisition system of different types of vehicles. In addition, I acquired experience in all levels of repair and maintenance jobs of different types of vehicles.

Professional Career Experience

Ph.D. Study

My PhD study field is focused on designing an adaptable crash energy management system that affords variable energy absorption characteristics as a function of impact speed to achieve enhanced occupant safety under frontal impact. A new methodology was developed to manage the overall vehicular structural stiffness under different impact speed while ensuring minimal influence on the structural stiffness during normal operating conditions. The study rought out an adaptable add-on energy absorption system over a range of impact speed that is applicable to all passenger cars of different masses and construction using scaling techniques. The proposed crash energy management system is then validated over different types of models ending up with a high fidelity nonlinear finite element (FE) model of a small passenger car in the LS-DYNA platform. The FE model with the proposed crash energy management system is optimized using a surrogate model to verify the versatility of the optimal set of design variables.

MSc. Study

My MSc. study focused on obtaining a less-weight yet more efficient vehicle body structure based on many criteria and constraints through performing structural design analysis over sedan passenger car with monocoque closed integral structure. Different structural analysis theories are conducted on an idealized model to ensure the continuity for the load path through the structure and the integrity of the structureunder different types of loads. Simple Structural Surfaces Method shows its effectivness to detect structural discontinuity and yeild accurate results compared to FE model. A compiled program was developed to conduct optimization to obtain an optimal vehicle structure capable of carrying different types of loads with a minimum weight using ANASYS software.
