Keyauwee Program Center is located on 350 acres just south of Greensboro in Randolph County and features a lake, swimming pool, Circle C Equestrian Center, climbing wall,

archery range and Alpine climbing tower. Accommodations include cabins, platform tent units, boardwalk connected cabins and a bunkhouse.

Keyauwee Program Center Programs 2017ENTERING GRADES 1-3 ...................................Amiguitas (Friends) – Fee: $185 June 18-21; June 21-24; June 28-July 1; July 2-5*, July 5-8; July 12-15Ready for an adventure? Come try out this fun half-week program and swim, boat, play group games, make crafts and even sing around the campfire at night. Come explore camp together with your new Amiguitas!

Just the Two of Us – Fee: $185 per person June 25-28; July 9-12 Get away from it all and spend time together at camp making memories that will last a lifetime. Explore camp, make s’mores and sing around the campfire. This camp session is designed as a “mom” and girl program. Girls may bring any female adult (age 18 or older) who is special to them.

Pony Parade – Fee: $285 June 25-28 Love horses? Here’s your chance to get to know and learn all about them. Meet our horses, ponies and donkey, then spend time at the barn learning about how to care for the horses and taking a riding lesson. Before the week is out, join your new friends, human and horse, for a trail ride to see the beautiful scenery.

NEW! Bugs and Ponies – Fee: $285 July 30-August 2 Come to camp and explore the smallest and biggest creatures we have at Keyauwee – bugs and ponies! Spend half your time searching for bugs while you earn your bugs badge and the other half taking a riding lesson at the barn. You will even get to combine the two by dressing up the horses as lady bugs and bumblebees!

NEW! Dance Party – Fee: $285 July 30-August 2 Get ready to dance your way through camp! You and your friends will spend three days learning new dance steps, trying out Zumba moves and dressing up for a dance party. While having fun earning your dancer badge, you will also experience all the fun our Circle C Equestrian Center has to offer by riding ponies at the top of the hill.

ENTERING GRADES 2-3 ..................................NEW! Oozy Goozy Scientists – Fee: $395 June 18-24Science can be super fun (and a little messy)! Come play and experiment at camp as you make bubbles, soar things into the sky like bottle rockets and soda and even make homemade ice cream.

Fun Flippers – Fee: $395 June 25-July 1; July 9-15 Dive into all the fun at camp! Practice your mermaid skills in our pool and lake. Try out the paddleboats and the slip ‘n slide. Every day you will receive a beginner’s swim lesson. End your stay with the super exciting water Olympics! Please note, swimming lessons will be aimed at beginners/non-swimmers and tailored to that ability level. All lessons will be run by a qualified swim instructor.

NEW! Badge Blitz – Fee: $395 July 2-8* Outdoors Badge Blitz; July 23-29 Artsy Badge Blitz Are you enjoying being a Girl Scout Brownie but really want to earn more of the badges? Try all of the fun camp activities like canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts and cooking over a campfire, and also complete four badges per program. ENTERING GRADES 4-5 .................................. NEW! Camping 101 – Fee: $495

June 18-24; July 23-29Get back to basics as you learn important camping skills. Practice knots, build a one-match fire, head to the archery range to practice hitting the target and then orienteer for your lunch. After that, head to the Uwharrie National Forest for a day hike at the end of the week and make lunch on the trail as well!

*On July 4th, we will celebrate Independence Day the Keyauwee way! Campers will sport their red, white and blue outfits for a BBQ style dinner and all camp carnival. Groups will decorate floats for the 2nd Annual Keyauwee 4th of July carnival and parade!

Swim-tastic – Fee: $395 June 18-24; July 2-8* Get your daily dose of water fun in this program! Paddle on the lake, hike the creek and splash in our pool! Make a water-themed dessert and compete in water Olympics. You’ll also be able to take a daily beginner’s swim lesson. Fun, Fiction, Fantasy – Fee: $395 June 25-July 1 Create the ultimate fantasy adventure with your own story at camp with activities from your favorite books. Play Quidditch, make magic potions, become a “girl on fire” at the archery range and test your skills like Katniss.

Saddle Sampler – Fee: $285 June 28-July 1 Love horses? Come meet our horses, ponies and donkey, then spend time at the barn learning about how to care for the horses and take a riding lesson. We’ll even have time for horse games along with general camp fun!

CSI: Keyauwee – Fee: $395 July 9-15; July 23-29 Calling all detectives-in-training! Fingerprinting, code breaking and a visit from law enforcement to learn some of the skills you’ll need to crack the mystery at camp. Scale the wall, explore the lake and jump into the pool as you search for answers.

NEW! Junior Horses – Fee: $495 July 9-15; July 16-22 Learn to ride or improve your riding skills as you earn the horseback riding badge and take a daily riding lesson, including a chance to ride our trails. Spend the rest of your time at the barn learning more about horses.

Camp Ahoy – Fee: $185 July 16-19; July 19-22 Make the most of your time at camp and try a little bit of everything! Climb the wall, take aim at the archery range, canoe on the lake and sing your heart out at the campfire. Try all that camp has to offer in this half-week program.

NEW! Under the Stars – Fee: $395 July 16-22 Two words – Space. Camp. Spend your days constructing and launching a bottle rocket, making a comet in arts and crafts and collecting moon rocks on the climbing wall. Your nights will include a real life alien hunt and exploring the constellations during our under the stars sleep out.

NEW! Climb and Ride – Fee: $285 July 30-August 2 This is a perfect combination of adventure and riding. Spend an afternoon with the horses receiving a lesson, and then have fun after dark with a night climb. In between, fill your time with climbing, swimming and archery!

ENTERING GRADES 6-8 .................................. Horseback Archery – Fee: $495

June 18-24 Immerse yourself in the exciting sport of horseback archery. Practice hitting targets and learn on-the-ground techniques that enable you to shoot a bow and arrow while riding horseback. Take your new archery skills to the barn and learn how to safely loose your arrows from a horse’s back. Invite your friends and family to the barn on Saturday morning for a demonstration and an introduction to horseback archery.  

NEW! International Chefs – Fee: $425 June 18-24; July 9-15 Join us in making a different dish every day from a different country! Some will be cooked on the campfire and some on the stove, but either way we guarantee you’ll have a happy belly this week!

Paddle, Pole and Roll – Fee: $495 June 25-July 1 This group will be at the lake at least once a day, practicing techniques, swamping canoes, using paddleboards and having kayak races. Once you’ve honed those skills, we’ll take our talents out to a local waterway to put them to use.

Equine Adventures – Fee: $495 July 2-8* Did you know that horses are a $2 billion industry in our state? In addition to a daily riding lesson each day, you will also learn about a different aspect of the North Carolina horse world, including career paths and recreational opportunities.

NEW! Ghostbusters! – Fee: $495 July 2-8*Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! Travel back in time to discover ghosts, myths and history of the local area. Spend a day touring a local history museum, doing stone rubbings at a cemetery and participating in a walking ghost tour.

NEW! Advanced Equestrian – Fee: $495 July 16-22 Choose one Advanced Equestrian learning track, practice and prepare all week and then present a program for parents on Saturday. There will be an additional application for this camp! Register early – space for each track is limited.

• Track 1: Horseback Archery 2 – Build on the skills you learned during a prior Horseback Archery camp. Prerequisite: 2016 Mounted Archery camp or 2017 Horseback Archery 1.

• Track 2: Drill Team – Learn some standard drill team routines and then design and showcase one of your own. Prerequisite: Riders must be able to walk, trot and canter in good form on a variety of horses.

• Track 3: A Horse of My Own – Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a horse of your own? You will be assigned a horse for caring and riding. Prerequisite: Must love horses!

Rapid Runners – Fee: $700 July 23-August 2 Be ready to leave camp and travel on a West Virginia river, down Class 3 and 4 rapids! We’ll also climb the tower and do other fun camp activities! Please note that due to the nature of this session, girls MUST be able to swim 25 yards and tread water for 2 minutes without stopping.

Take the Lead! – Fee: $600 July 23-August 2 Push your leadership limits with a group of like-minded girls. Tackle the climbing wall blindfolded, navigate the Alpine Tower, explore our woods with map and compass, cook a campsite meal from scratch, learn new leadership skills with our horses and much more!

ENTERING GRADES 8-10 ................................NEW! Rest, Relax and Recuperate – Fee: $395 June 18-24 Be ready for a peaceful, relaxing week at camp. We’ll start our days with yoga, try out some paddleboarding and spend time pampering ourselves as well. Learn some basic self-defense moves and try out Zumba!

NEW! Scuba Do 1 – Fee: $950 June 18-July 1 Get ready to add a true life skill to your resume, because once you have the Open Water certification, the world truly will be your oyster! Please note that due to the nature of this session, girls MUST be able to swim 25 yards and tread water for two minutes without stopping.

NEW! Choose Your Own Adventure – Fee: $425 June 25-July 1; July 16-22 Do you want to come to camp to really develop a certain skillset? Every morning you will be able to choose an elective from climbing, paddle boarding, canoeing and archery. Every afternoon, you’ll be with your unit to swim, geocache and cook campfire favorites!

RIIT Camp – Fee: $425 June 25-July 1 Calling all future riding instructors! Spend half of your day improving your riding skills and learning how to create a lesson plan, designing fun learning activities and teaching others on horseback. The other half of your day you will teach and mentor younger girls at the barn.

NEW! Climb High – Fee: $495 July 2-8* Spend time at the wall and tower taking sunrise climbs, night climbs, buddy climbs and blindfold climbs! We’ll be learning different climbing knots as well as trying different routes on the wall with both closed and open feet! In order to put all of our skills to use, we’ll be heading out to Hanging Rock to climb some real rocks!

NEW! Girls Night Out at the Zoo – Fee: $495 July 9-15 Be ready for an overnight at the North Carolina Zoo. You’ll stay overnight at the zoo, as well as spend a whole day exploring the facility. At camp you’ll find time for the tower, boating and cooking out over a campfire.

Fee: $495/$650 July 2-8*; July 23-August 2 Have you been wanting to take part in an escape room challenge? Be ready to solve clues and make good team decisions. Build your own fire to cook dinner and don’t overlook the clues as you climb the tower. Make sure you capitalize on your time at the pool! This week promises to keep both your mind and body sharp! We’ll finish it off with a trip to a local escape room to see if we can make it out!

NEW! Outdoor Club Extravaganza – Fee: $950 July 9-22 Have you been with us on one of our Outdoor Club trips? If so, you know how much fun can be had in the outdoors! For this extravaganza, we will be away from camp for six nights! We will hike and camp on the Appalachian Trail, bike down the Virginia Creeper and go caving one day, too. We couldn’t fit much more adventure into a trip if we tried! Please note, campers must have been on an Outdoor Club trip within the last year and have backpacking experience.

NEW! Once Upon a Masterpiece – Fee: $425 June 25-July 1; July 2-8* Girls will make more than wishes this week! You will spend a good part of the day in arts and crafts creating your own story through art. When you are not making magic, you will enjoy all the fun that traditional camp has to offer. Take part in a fairytale ball, and listen to stories each night as you drift off to sleep.

ENTERING GRADES 4-5 ..................................NEW! Artfully Yours – Fee: $425 June 18-24; July 2-8* Let camp become your studio. Girls will learn painting and drawing techniques, tie-dye and enjoy camp crafts in our arts center. Head home with a self-portrait and plenty of Pinterest-worthy creations. Can-Do Camp! – Fee: $395 June 18-24; July 2-8* This session is a must-do for can-do, first time campers, as well as those that just love spending time at camp! You will learn outdoor, camping and water skills, as well as spend a night camping under the stars and enjoy extra pool time.

NEW! Daughters of Legend – Fee: $395 June 25-July 1Uncover ancient secrets, learn myths and legends from around the world and be the heroine of your own epic quest! Study the ways of the heroine (courage, confidence and character) and build your skills with swords, arrows, climbing and more. Create your own heroine’s medallion and test your mettle against the monsters of myth.

NEW! Jill of All Trades – Fee: $415 June 25-July 1Can’t decide on just one program? This week is for you! You’ll enjoy all the fun that camp has to offer with swimming, boating, a campfire cookout and songs, along with some extra fun. ENTERING GRADES 5-7 ..................................Drama Driven – Fee: $395 June 18-24 Do you love the spotlight? This week you will immerse yourself in acting games, stage combat and improv techniques. Get a chance to experiment with stage makeup and work with fellow actresses to craft your own performance to put on for the entire camp! The final performance will be filmed and girls will take home a DVD to share with friends and family.

NEW! Warrior Women – Fee: $450 June 18-24 Wonder Woman had her lasso, but you will have your swords, arrows and each other as you train to be warrior women of tomorrow! Cardio kickboxing, climbing, archery, sword fighting and more are in store for you fearless females!

NEW! Arrows Away – Fee: $425 July 2-8* These girls know that true archers like Artemis, Katniss and Merida honed their skills through practice and training. June 18-24; July 2-8* Time to head underground to explore the hidden world beneath our feet. You’ll go spelunking in the Lost Sea Caves and then even camp inside them! You and your group will take a ride in a glass bottomed boat across the nation’s largest underground lake! All this and the fun of camp, too!

NEW! Heroines in ACTION! – Fee: $825 June 18-July 1 Girls work together to create their own superhero(ine) personas and costumes while writing their own movie script. In your second week, learn stage combat techniques and video editing as you film a movie where you save the day and defeat the evil villains. The rest of camp will enjoy a premiere of your movie when it’s finished, and you will take home your very own DVD of your masterpiece!

Spend a night camping out in tents or under the stars in our comfy hammocks. There will be plenty of time for creative crafts and the climbing wall as well!

ENTERING GRADES 8-10 ..............................NEW! Amazing Amazons – Fee: $415 June 18-24 For teen girls who aren’t afraid of a challenge, this program will rock your world! Rock climbing, cardio kickboxing and a mountain side obstacle course are in store in this high intensity week. Re-fuel with a nutritious meal you cook yourself over a campfire and reward yourself with a refreshing slide down the Cascades after a day hiking camp’s many trails.     

**G.A.L.S. (Ginger Adventure, Leadership and Service) – Fee: $750 June 18-July 1 Ready to become more than just a camper? In this program, you will complete a service project, plan and lead an activity for younger campers and learn about programming and logistics as you plot your own off-site adventure! Your group will also visit High Gravity Adventures Aerial Park to have fun and relax from your hard work.

**Extreme Escapes – Fee: $825 July 2-15* Spend time developing team work while enjoying your favorite outdoor camp activities. Go on a two-night backpacking trip in the new, unexplored section of Ginger Cascades. In your second week, head to Nantahala Outdoor Center. There you will camp, brave the Nantahala River white water rafting and experience the thrill of their zipline course!

**Please note that due to the nature of this session to participate, girls MUST be able to swim two laps in the Ginger Cascades pool, tread water for 2 minutes without stopping and weigh at least 80 pounds to participate.

NEW! Picture This! – Fee: $425 July 2-8* Picture yourself practicing yoga by a calm lake with the sun rising behind you, paddleboarding with your friends and showing off your dance moves in a Zumba class. Hike to hidden streams and take selfies around the campfire (firelight is extremely flattering!). During your downtime, relax around camp, lounge in a hammock and make scented candles. Capture everything on your group’s digital camera and take home a CD of Instagram- worthy photos!

ENTERING GRADES 9-11 .................................NEW! Troupe Performer – Fee: $795 July 2-15* Girls will immerse themselves in rehearsing, performing and directing their own show while practicing their stagecraft through improv games, acting exercises, stage combat and more. Actors, writers, artists and more will be needed for the production to be a success, so whether you love making props, painting backdrops, writing your own stories or bowing to applause, this program is for you! Perform your final show for the entire camp!

ENTERING GRADES 10-12 ..............................NEW! Leadership & Legacy – Fee: $395 June 25-July 1 Make your mark on camp this summer! Choose a service project to complete on property and become a part of Camp Ginger Cascades’ legacy. Girls in this program will work on leadership, team building, project management, communication skills and more as they complete their project and plan an all-camp event!

NEW! Locavore – Fee: $450 July 9-15Ever enjoyed biting into a crisp apple right off the tree? How about a ripe tomato? If you have, then you might be a locavore! Join us this week and put on your chef hat to come up with creations based on seasonal food offerings. Visit a local farmer’s market to pick up your ingredients! You’ll even get a chance to cultivate your own edible plants. Camp never tasted so good!

Camp Pisgah Keyauwee Program Center Camp Ginger Cascades ALL CampsAC

How To Register For Camp• Any girl entering grades 1-12 in the fall of 2017 may register for a camp session.

• Online registration opens at 6 a.m. on January 13.

• All registrations submitted or postmarked by March 14 are considered early registrations and will receive a $50 discount per weeklong program off the rate listed. Registrants after March 14 pay the full listed fee.

• We want every girl to be able to attend camp regardless of her financial situation. Camp scholarships (camperships) are available to currently registered Girl Scouts of the Peaks to Piedmont council, who have participated in either the fall product/magazine or cookie programs this year. The Campership Form must be submitted at the time of registration and is due by March 14. Our Campership Form is available at www.camplikeagirl.org. Campership forms received after March 14 cannot be accepted. Apply now!

Online registration is the fastest and most accurate way to register. Simply visit www.camplikeagirl.org and click on the “Registration Information” box. It will guide you through the steps.
