Key People of the American Revolution
George Washington George Washington was the Commander of the Continental Army for the Americans. Washington fought a long war with inexperienced men and eventually defeated the best Army in the World: The British. As for his showings of bravery he was elected the first president of the United States of America.

Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson was an important political figure of the revolution. Jefferson is mostly known for writing the Declaration of Independence, which stated that the colonies were not to be ruled by England. Jefferson also attended both Continental Congress.

Hamilton took over many aspects of spending for the revolution, because of this Alexander Hamilton became the first Secretary of Treasurer under George Washington.
