It’s both exciting and unsettling when God shoves you out of your comfort zone. Our Key Ministry team has experienced a year of unprecedented opportunity and challenge. That’s the tension we’re experiencing as we wind down our current season of ministry and prepare for 2012-2013.

Thanks to God’s blessing, the faithfulness of our supporters and volunteers and the wonders of technology, Key Ministry was able to dramatically expand our impact on behalf of churches seeking to minister more effectively to families of children with disabilities.

Church leaders from around the world accessed our blogs and website in numbers exceeding all of our expectations. We developed and distributed an updated “Key Ring Binder” containing the essentials for churches seeking to develop ministries to kids with disabilities and their families. Our live “JAM (Jumpstart All-Inclusive Ministry) Sessions” continue to grow in popularity for leaders in children’s, youth and disability ministry. Members of our team continue to receive invitat ions to speak at major ministry conferences. And last November, over 1,300 pastors, ministry directors, volunteers and family members joined us for our First Annual Inclusion Fusion Special Needs Ministry Websummit, highlighted by our featured presenter, Chuck Swindoll.

Looking to the coming year, our team’s primary strategic initiative involves the development of

the systems, people and financial resources to al low us to expand our free training, consultation, resources and support to churches throughout the U.S. and beyond while maintaining a relational presence with the people who serve in those churches. We want churches undertaking ministry to families of kids with disabilities to have a person (or people) in their area they can turn to for help and support…someone they can know and rely upon as they connect with and bui ld relationships with families attracted by their ministries.

The 2012-13 ministry year can best be characterized as one in which we plan to build the foundation for a very big house. Later this summer, we’ll be sharing a new, more user-friendly website designed to provide church leaders with “one stop shopping”…All of our ministry resources will be available in one central location. We plan to put into operation our FREERESPITE website later this year, allowing families to make one-click reservations for free, church-based respite care in churches we’ve trained to provide the service.

“If you haven't checked out Key Ministry yet, you don't know what you're missing! They have a heart for including EVERYONE in our churches, and can give you the tools to do so!”

Our people are already committed to speaking at conferences later this year where thousands of ministry leaders from throughout the world will be able to connect and interact with them. Inclusion Fusion 2012 is scheduled for November 12-16, and we hope to launch our free, permanent, web-based Disability Ministry Training Library later this fall. We may also begin to experiment with pilot projects to create resources in support of online church campuses seeking to serve kids with disabilities and their families. We’ll also be planning special events to commemorate Key Ministry’s 10th Anniversary this coming December. Our team couldn’t possibly be more excited…or humbled by our future opportunities. The challenges are daunting and necessitate our dependence upon God’s involvement and presence in leading us forward. In order to accomplish the mission He’s given us we’re going to need to build a very broad and diverse base of volunteers and like-minded partner organizations.

We’d love for you to join us in our ministry adventures. Your time, talent, treasure and prayers are very much appreciated as we seek to remove the visible and invisible barriers separating kids with disabilities and their families from local churches, and in doing so, serve a God who can do infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or imagine!

In His Service,

Stephen Grcevich, MDPresident, Board of DirectorsKey Ministry

Key Ministry presented the inaugural Inclusion Fusion Special Needs Ministry Web Summit from November 3rd-7th 2011. Inclusion Fusion is a free, worldwide web-based conference to equip churches to more effectively minister to families of kids with disabilities.

The conference is a reflection of a movement in which God is stirring like-minded followers everywhere to come together in removing the concrete and invisible barriers that prevent families of children with visible and hidden disabilities to assume their rightful place in our churches, and ultimately, in His Kingdom. Pastors, church staff, volunteers and families from across the U.S. and beyond are exponentially more likely to

participate in ministry training when the content is freely available over the Internet and accessible “on-demand.” Most churches lack the funds to send staff or volunteers across the country for ministry training, and many volunteers have competing family and work demands that interfere with their ability to attend conferences, even when funding is available. Inclusion Fusion makes available the highest quality disability ministry training to the largest possible audience at the lowest possible cost.

The response to Inclusion Fusion exceeded all of our expectations. During and shortly after the conference, 1,305 pastors, children’s, youth and disability ministry leaders, volunteers, parents and caregivers from 42 states and five countries registered for the event.

Our team is incredibly appreciative of the enthusiastic support we received from all of our speakers…especially from Chuck Swindoll, his wife Cynthia, his daughter Colleen and their family. Chuck and his family were extremely gracious in sharing their time and talents with our team. Their willingness to lend their credibility to the cause of including families of kids with d i s a b i l i t i e s a t c h u r c h w a s indispensible to the success of the conference. Most of all, they reflected the character of Christ. We extend thanks to everyone at Insight for Living for a job well done!

Twenty-four leaders in the disability ministry field served as conference faculty. Key Ministry staff and volunteers who spoke included Dr. Cara Daily, Dr. Stephen Grcevich, MD, Rebecca Hamilton, Harmony Hensley, Amanda Mooney, Libby Peterson and Katie Wetherbee.

We ex tend ou r t hanks and appreciation to Jeremy Collins and

his team at Pajama Conference, our partners in producing Inclusion Fusion. Their work allows us to make Inclusion Fusion available to churches, pastors, volunteers, families and caregivers free of charge.

Our long-term plan is for the Inclusion Fusion site to evolve into a FREE, online video training library that will reflect best practices for churches seeking to minister with children and adults with a broad range of disabilities and their families.

Our team is seeking to identify sources of financial support to continue to offer Inclusion Fusion as a free resource. We would w e l c o m e i n d i v i d u a l s o r organizations willing to serve as the title sponsor for Inclusion Fus ion o r sponsor spec ific conference presentations. We’d also welcome individual donors willing to support the ongoing operation of the Inclusion Fusion

website and/or the production and distribution costs for boxed DVD sets of conference presentations for use in training church staff and volunteers.

We hope you will join us from November 12th-16th 2012 for the Second Annual Inclusion Fusion Disability Ministry Web Summit!

“I’ve often thought about the deficit of special needs accommodations in Christian schools, but never considered how important it is for churches, too.”

“This ministry is dedicated to serving kids with special needs and hidden challenges.”

Page 13: Key Ministry Annual Report

13

Key Ministry’s Board of Directors approved an ambitious budget for 2012, representing a 72% increase in revenue and a 109% increase in spending compared to 2011.

The most significant increase in the budget resulted from increased staff costs resulting from the establishment of a new Director of Ministry Advancement position, along with funding for a media technician. The Board also increased funding to support more live and in-person intensive trainings for ministry leaders and an expanded presence of Key Ministry staff and volunteers at major ministry conferences throughout the U.S. Key Ministry also anticipates launching a greatly enhanced website during the third quarter of 2012 allowing pastors, church staff and volunteers to more easily access all ministry resources in one convenient location, including our disability ministry video training library. We also plan to launch a companion website to help parents of children with disabilities register for free respite care at any church in our respite networks.

Most importantly, our Board has continued to support our commitment to ministry that is relational. We want to provide pastors and ministry leaders not just resources, but the opportunity to speak with an experienced leader in the field of disability ministry when challenging situations arise. While we’re honored to have the opportunity to speak at ministry conferences attended by thousands of pastors and church leaders, we also want to be available to leaders in a church of 100 people trying to respond to the needs of an individual family in their community desperately in need of the love of Christ.

Thanks to God’s blessings and dedicated ministry staff and volunteers who cont inue to demonstrate extraordinary generosity of their time and talents, Key Ministry has been able to achieve an impact for the Kingdom far greater than we ever dared to ask or imagine. We thank all of our donors and volunteers for their ongoing prayers and support of the work of the ministry.
