Today I volunteered at a centre for orphans because

I wanted to find out what life is like for them.

The centre is for children who do not have parents.

They stay at the centre until they are adopted by a

new family. The youngest child is only two years

old! When I arrived at the centre, it was lunch time.

First, we gave meals to the younger children, then

to the older ones.

After lunch, we played at an outdoor playground in

the centre. Everything was fine until two children

started fighting. They were thrashing each other, it

was awful! A staff of the centre came to stop them

and took one of them away. I tried to calm the other

child with a toy bear. Fortunately, he smiled finally.

It was really an enjoyable day. I loved playing with

the kids and making them smile.

Your are participating in a school volunteer project and your teacher gave you this blog to read.

Read the blog entry and answer the questions.

Today I volunteered at a centre for orphans because

I wanted to find out what life is like for them.

The centre is for children who do not have parents.

They stay at the centre until they are adopted by a

new family. The youngest child is only two years

old! When I arrived at the centre, it was lunch time.

First, we gave meals to the younger children, then

to the older ones.

After lunch, we played at an outdoor playground in

the centre. Everything was fine until two children

started fighting. They were thrashing each other, it

was awful! A staff of the centre came to stop them

and took one of them away. I tried to calm the other

child with a toy bear. Fortunately, he smiled finally.

It was really an enjoyable day. I loved playing with

the kids and making them smile.
