1 Product description KESO KEK i-pin meets the need for security and flexibility in modern buildings perfectly. KESO KEK i-pin, the new supplementary product for KESO AccessPoint, is the ideal solution for building envelopes, IT rooms, and access entry on individual floors. Depending on the individual circumstances, KESO KEK i-pin can be used on its own or in conjunction with the KESO KEK i-reader. PIN codes are issued electronically using KESO management software k-entry®.

1.1 Important notes on this documentation This document is an integral part of KESO AccessPoint PB.01.013 documentation. It contains important information on product handling and initial operation. For this reason, you should familiarise yourself with its content and, in particular, observe the instructions on safe handling, operation, and installation. The figures or graphics shown may differ from the supplied components. We reserve the right to make changes to reflect technical advancements. The manual is not covered by an update service.

2 System and hardware requirements

2.1 KESO management software k-entry® Standard • Version 5.0.6.4 or higher

2.1.1 Supplementary licence for KESO KEK i-pin • Article no.: K.731 / The MID is needed to issue the supplementary licence.

2.2 KESO KEK Programmer PPG V2 • Firmware V1.02 Pro Rev and higher. T

2.3 KESO AccessPoint ET or SA • Firmware 04.01.01 and higher

2.4 KESO KEK i-reader surface/flush mount K.548 / K.549 / K.550 (grey signet) • Firmware V01.19 and above (deliveries as from February 2011)

3 Incorrect PIN code entry The KESO KEK i-pin keypad will be blocked for the following time intervals if the incorrect code is entered: • After the third attempt: 30 seconds • After the fourth attempt: 60 seconds • After the fifth attempt: 300 seconds • After the sixth attempt: 600 seconds

WARNING: If a KESO KEK i-reader and a KESO KEK i-pin are used together, only the PIN code for the identification medium is blocked. Other access authorisations are not blocked. The blocking interval on the KESO KEK i-pin keypad is eliminated if another identification medium with a valid PIN code is used to open the access. The blocking intervals are not displayed on the KESO KEK i-pin keypad for security reasons.



4 Ordering information

The product models that we market comply with regulations under European directives. You will find the terminal assignment in the packaging (Document BA.01.034) or in this documentation from Section 7 onwards.

7 Connection diagram

The power supply must be switched off during any wiring work. All inputs and outputs are designed for 12/24 volts. Never connect to a mains voltage (115/230 Volt) Risk of fatal injury

8 Installing KESO KEK i-pin

Note on installation: KESO KEK i-pin and KESO KEK i-reader must not be installed together in a Feller EDIZIO due dual cover frame. The two devices must be installed separately in a single box each.

8.1 KESO KEK i-pin / Feller EDIZIO due model 1. Remove front printed labelling (with film) from EDI frame 2. Wire KESO KEK i-pin, including power supply 3. Mount printed labelling with 4 countersink screws onto the wall or

surface-mount/flush-mount box 4. Insert the four black expanding rivets into the printed labelling 5. Mount EDIZIO due frame on top 6. Carefully place front printed labelling on top, ensuring that the four guide

bolts and the 12-pin connector fit correctly.

8.2 KESO KEK i-pin / model for outdoor areas 1. Wire KESO KEK i-pin, including power supply 2. Mount printed labelling with 4 countersink screws onto the wall or

surface-mount/flush-mount box 3. Insert the four black expanding rivets into the printed labelling 4. Carefully place front printed labelling on top, ensuring that the four guide

9 Programming

To programme the KESO KEK i-pin keypad, you need at least KESO management software k-entry® Standard with a supplementary PIN licence and the KESO KEK Programmer PPG V2. The PIN code can only be generated and issued in KESO management software k-entry® using an account with administrator rights. PIN authorisations can only be issued on the Door and Pin screen if the PIN option is activated for the door in question (see Section 9.1). If the PIN option is not available or not activated in the device properties, the doors or devices concerned are displayed in grey on the PIN screen. It is also not possible to activate the PIN authorisation on the Door screen or the PIN Code Register. In addition to the Key Register, there is also a PIN Code Register available on the Users screen. A selected user can thus see all information on this screen.

NOTE: The NOK function cannot be used in conjunction with PIN code usage.

9.1 Device properties You can configure the KESO AccessPoint in ‘Properties’ to determine whether a KESO KEK i-pin keypad is used or not.

If the option "PIN keypad available“ is activated and the option "Use PIN only“ deactivated in the KEK Register, you also need to select a PIN time window in the "Time" Register. If PIN time window is selected, the system first needs to be batched. Afterwards the PIN code can be entered and then completed by pressing the # key.

If the KESO KEK i-pin keypad is to be used together with the KESO KEK i-reader, you need to select "Use PIN keypad“. A time window also needs to be selected under "Also use PIN" in the "Time" register.

If the KESO KEK i-pin keypad is to be used on its own, you need to select "Use PIN only“.

The office function can only be operated in KESO KEK i-reader mode. This means that the office function can only be activated in time windows in which the PIN code keypad is inactive



9.2 Generating PIN codes You can issue codes on the PIN Code screen.

New or additional PIN codes are produced using the right-hand mouse button and "Generate new PIN Codes ...".

Number of PIN codes to be generated. Minimum and maximum PIN code length. This activation means that leading zeros may be put in front of the PIN code. PIN code name.

The sequential numbering and code issue is automatic for "Generate PIN codes". The individual names and PIN codes can be modified in properties any time.

PIN code name. Current PIN code for this name. Group membership. Status (depot, issued). PIN code owner/holder.

9.3 Issuing/withdrawing PIN code to/from holder PIN code status can be modified in the PIN Code Properties dialog box.

NOTE: Only one PIN code can be issued per person.

9.4 PIN code authorisations PIN code/holder authorisations (“PIN Codes” register) are allocated on the Door and Pin screen in the same way as keys to individual door positions.

10 Access To gain access, users need to press the # key after they have entered the code.

10.1 PIN code - batch mode In order to enter the PIN code, a valid identification medium must first be held in front of the KESO KEK i-reader.

NOTE: In this mode, each PIN code authorisation is considered a 24-hour authorisation. The identification medium’s time window is decisive in this respect.

10.2 PIN code mode This mode allows the PIN code to be entered directly on the KESO KEK i-pin keypad.

Select "PIN codes" register. Mark required door. Select PIN codes and drag and drop at the door position. Authorise PIN codes/holders.

The following statuses can be selected:• In key safe • Issued



11 LED and signal behaviour

When the KESO KEK i-pin is put into operation, the LEDs will light up in the following order: red, orange, green. When start mode is completed, the green LED will flash briefly followed by the orange LED and an audible signal will sound twice.

NOTE: The blocking intervals are not displayed on the KESO KEK i-pin keypad for security reasons. If an online electronic system is disengaged due to a blocking interval, it can be released using the ‘Restart electronic system …’ context menu.

11.1 PIN code - batch mode The KESO KEK i-reader always signals release, office functions, permanently open mode or non-authorisation. KESO KEK i-pin begins to flash red and green immediately after it has been batched. This means that the PIN code can now be entered as appropriate.

11.2 PIN code mode KESO KEK i-reader always signals release and the permanently open mode as appropriate.

13 Maintenance / Care / Repair

The KESO KEK i-pin keypad does not require maintenance. Use a slightly damp, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the outside surface of the KESO KEK i-pin keypad. Ensure that no damp gets through the openings and inside the KESO KEK i-pin keypad. Never spray liquids directly onto the KESO KEK i-pin keypad. Do not use any sprays, solvents or scouring agents. If repairs are required, the KESO KEK i-pin keypad must be sent back to KESO AG in its original packing.
