The NSS Unit of Keshav Mahavidyalaya successfully completed various tasks proposed by the NSS Centre and Regional Directorate of NSS in the year 2018-2019 and undertook numerous social responsibilities and community initiatives. Under the supervision of the NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Amanjot Sachdeva the Unit undertook various social initiatives related to cleanliness, education, health, donations etc.

EVENTS - 2018-2019 INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2018 in the college. Principal Dr. Madhu Pruthi, NSS Programme Officer Dr. Amanjot Sachdeva and other teaching and non teaching staff members and students attended the yoga training by Yoga Instructors from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Rohini. SWACHHTA PHAKWARA

• OATH TAKING CEREMONY An oath taking ceremony – “Swachhta Shapath” was organized by the NSS Unit on 1stAugust 2018 in which several NSS Volunteers took the oath to keep their surroundings clean and take an active part in the Swatchh Bharat Abhiyaan. They committed themselves to contribute towards making India a clean and green nation by making efforts at an individual as well as community level.

• CLEANLINESS DRIVE IN COLLEGE CAMPUS A college campus cleanliness drive was organized by the Unit on 2-3rd August 2018 in which lawns, grounds, classrooms, laboratories and the library were cleaned by the volunteers. Awareness regarding maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness of environment was spread amongst the college students.

• CLEANLINESS AWARENESS IN SLUM

A Cleanliness Awareness Campaign was held in the college’s adopted slum on 6th and 7th August 2018 in which the NSS volunteers presented various small video clips to spread awareness regarding personal hygiene and importance of cleanliness in the slum area. Children were taught the importance of maintaining cleanliness all around. Sweets and Soaps were distributed amongst the children to promote cleanliness.

• CLEANLINESS DRIVE IN PARK A Cleanliness Drive was organised on 13th August 2018 in neighbourhood parks. Volunteers cleaned the area thoroughly and provided information to people about community cleaning.

• CLEANLINESS RALLY AND DUSTBIN INSTALLATION CEREMONY IN COLLEGE CAMPUS

A cleanliness rally was held in the canteen lawns on 14th August 2018 in which an interactive session amongst the students and the NSS volunteers was held. The volunteers provided information and communicated the message of importance of cleanliness in the surroundings. Further, information about Waste Segregation methods was imparted and Dustbins were installed outside the Canteen.

MARHAM- DONATION AND CAMPAIGN FOR KERALA FLOODS To support the state and victims of Kerala floods, the NSS unit of in collaboration with the Rotaract Club organised a donation drive for the victims of Kerala floods. ORIENTATION PROGRAM NSS unit organised an orientation program. on 31st August 2018. Many fresh faces brimming with enthusiasm turned up to work with NSS team for the betterment of society. This orientation program was followed by a poster and rangoli making competition with the theme *Best Out Of Waste*. Position holders were provided with certificates.

NSS DAY CELEBRATION On 24th September 2018, NSS unit of Keshav Mahavidyalaya celebrated the NSS Day under the motto ‘Swatchhta Hi Sewa’. Door to door campaigning was done by volunteers in Rani Bagh, Delhi. There was a cleanliness drive in college campus. In addition the dramatics society ‘Shades’ of the college also enhanced awareness towards cleanliness by performing a nukkad natak on the theme‘Swatchhta ki taraf ek kadam’.

WASTE SEGERATION CAMPAIGN A cleanliness awareness and waste segregation awareness was organized on 25th September 2018 in the nearby slum area. An animated film shown to the kids was about 'cleanliness and waste segregation followed by a discussion on the story of the film to enhance awareness. SWACHHTA RALLY

The NSS unit of Keshav Mahavidyalaya organized a Swachhta Rally on 26th September 2018. The goal of the campaign was to sensitize people about clean environment.

IMPORTANCE OF SEGREGATION CAMPAIGN NSS Unit of Keshav Mahavidyalaya organized a program on understanding cleanliness on 27th September 2018 in the slum adopted by college. Volunteers answered all the queries of the kids patiently. A few games was organized wherein the children participated with enthusiasm.

. SURGICAL STRIKE DAY Words have the power to show that you care and can bring a change. To mark the Surgical Strike Day On 29th September 2019,the NSS Unit organized a Poetry Session on the topic 'Saluting Indian Armed Forces'. The writings of the students were forwarded through NSS centre to the Ministry of Defence to reach the brave soldiers.

RASHTRIYA EKTA DIVAS On the occasion of the 'Rashtriya Ekta Divas', to commemorate the birthday of the Iron Man of India SardarVallabhbhai Patel, the NSS Unit organized a pledge taking on 31st October 2018.

MAKAR SAKRANTI CELEBRATION The NSS unit celebrated the Makar Sakranti festival with slum kids in the nearby adopted slum area. The purpose was to share joy and awareness of the festival with the underprivileged children.

LAUNCH OF VOTER AWARENESS FORUM (VAF) Election Commission of India has decided to set up Voter Awareness Forum in all Government Departments, Non-Government organizations, Corporate and other institutions for promoting electoral awareness amongst all employees of the concerned departments. In this regard a Voter Awareness Forum was launched in the college on 16th January, 2019. Rishav Kumar, Vice President, NSS unit, gave a presentation on rights and duties of voters and shared insights about voter awareness.

DONATION DRIVE "Making a donation is the ultimate sign of solidarity. Action speaks louder than words." NSS Unit organized a Donation Drive- ‘We Care, We Share’, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of the college. Students and staff aided this noble cause by donating books, clothes, and footwear.

GIRL CHILD DAY “Girls are the greatest gifts from God.” The NSS Unit of Keshav Mahavidyalaya organised a Poetry Competition on the topic 'Girl Child' on Girl Child Day on 24th January 2019 in college premises.

NATIONAL VOTER’S DAY The NSS Unit of Keshav Mahavidyalaya celebrated of 9th National Voter's Day on 25th January, 2019. A pledge taking ceremony and a quiz contest were held to ensure ethical participation of voters in the election process and raise their awareness.

MARTYRS DAY Martyrs day was acknowledged by maintaining a 2 minutes silence in the college to pay a tribute to the soldiers who have sacrificed their life for the country.

ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN On the 3rd day of National Road Safety Week and with the spirit of creating awareness about road safety, the members of NSS Unit collaborated with Indian Road Safety Campaign, HT media under the banner of "Hero We Care" program and organized a Road Safety Awareness in the college. The event started with the college Principal Dr. Madhu Pruthi welcoming the representatives from Indian Road Safety Campaign and Delhi Traffic Police. She also stressed on the importance of observing safety rules especially by the young students. This was followed by a discussion on Road Safety by ASI Rakesh Kumar and Head Constable Sachin Kumar. A very informative session on road safety was conducted by Ms. Saloni from the Indian Road Safety Campaign. The event concluded with essay writing and a poster making competition on the theme.

ABHIVRITTI 2019 The NSS Unit in collaboration with the Rotaract club organized a health wellbeing and social awareness event ‘Abhivritti 2019’. The event consisted of many social programs and health camps like HLA, Moment therapy, Mammography Camp, meditation session, self-defence session and many more. The event lasted for two days and it saw a lot of active participation of volunteers.

A self-defense awareness session was held for the girl students of the college on 3rd of April 2019 and self defense classes for girl students of the college were organized with the help of Delhi Police personnel for 10 days.
