1 Speaker Profiles Capt. Robert Gordon, Master Mariner, Solicitor & MD of SeaProf Executive Education After 20 years at sea as a deck officer, shipmaster and pilot, Robert came ashore to study maritime law at the University of Southampton. He then qualified as a Solicitor and practiced as a partner with London maritime lawyers, Thomas Cooper Law. Robert moved to Singapore in 1995 and founded SEAsia P&I Services, specialising in marine casualty investigation and defence. As the MD of SeaProf, he now lectures on ship management, marine insurance and maritime law on the NTU MSc in Maritime Studies course in Singapore. Wilson Foo, Shipbroker, S&P Division, Fearnleys, Singapore Wilson joined Fearnleys as a trainee shipbroker in 2014. After gaining ‘hands on’ training in a market facing a challenging global economy, he now specialises in the Dry Bulker and Tanker S&P markets. Wilson’s focus is on assisting clients in South East Asia. Wilson obtained a BA in Communications from Curtin University, Perth. He later completed a postgrad Master of Applied Finance degree at Macquarie University, Sydney. Harry Jamieson, Shipbroker, S&P Division, Fearnleys. Singapore Harry joined Fearnleys as a trainee shipbroker in 2016. Shipping overcapacity generated a high level of S&P and demolition deals together with intense ‘on the job’ training. Harry also specialises in the Dry Bulk and Tanker S&P markets, with a focus on South East Asia. He holds a BA in Economics and Business from the University of West of England.

Capt. Pradeep Desawar, Master Mariner, MD of marine consultants, Gini Maritime Pte Ltd. Pradeep spent 20 years serving at sea as a deck officer and Master on board General Cargo Ships, Bulk Carriers and Container Carriers. On moving ashore, he gained extensive experience in Marine & Cargo Surveys, Container Cargo Operations and Ship Management as GM of PIL. During this time, he obtained his MSc degree in

Maritime Studies from NTU. He then moved on to become GM of Asiatic Lloyd Ship Management, with responsibility for the in-house Technical Management of a fleet of new design shallow draft container vessels. Pradeep is now a Maritime Consultant, with a special interest in maritime executive education.

Sigrid Teig, former Corporate Risk Manager, Western Bulk ASA, and General Manager, Western Bulk, Singapore Sigrid started working at Western Bulk Pte. Ltd with a focus on market risk management. She was later promoted to Corporate Risk Manager for counterpart risk for the Western Bulk Group and General Manager of Western Bulk Singapore. Sigrid is a Board Member of the Norwegian Business Association in Singapore. She has guest lectured on business philosophy, operations and risk management techniques on the NTU MSc in Martime Studies and at NSA Maritime Trainee sessions in Singapore. Sigrid holds a MSc. in Economics and Business

Administration, with a Specialisation in Business Analysis and Performance Management, from the Norwegian School of Business and Economics.

Dr Yap Wei Yim, Lecturer, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Singapore Management University (SMU) Wei Yim spent seven years with the MPA as their head of strategic planning. His remit included maritime and port cluster development, long term forecasts and port competition assessments. Wei Yim now provides maritime and port consultancy inclusive of shipping centre development, bunkering, ship registry, container shipping

and hinterland logistics. A graduate of NUS, Wei Yim obtained his PhD in Maritime Economics from the University of Antwerp. He has published extensively in leading journals including Maritime Policy and Management, Journal of Transport Geography, Maritime Economics and Logistics and several others.

Christian Nolting, Director of Ship Finance Asia Pacific, Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale, Singapore Branch

Christian started his career in corporate banking with Deutsche Bank in Germany in 2001. He later relocated to Asia, where he worked in a variety of ship finance roles in Hong Kong and Singapore. Now with NORD/LB, Christian’s current focus is on assisting clients in the Middle East and the Asian region. Christian’s experience extends to a wide range of ship finance work including structuring and leading large ship finance transactions, acquisition finance, advisory,

operating and finance lease solutions and finance restructures. Christian holds a business degree from University of Münster in Germany. He recently completed an Executive MBA at the Nanyang Business School.

Wong Kok Fai, Training Manager & Senior Navigation Instructor for Navigation, Kongsberg Maritime Pte Ltd, Singapore Kok Fai is a former Republic of Singapore Navy officer. His career spanned 21 years of naval service, including promotion to Commanding Officer. Later, Kok Fai was appointed as a naval instructor specialising in navigation and electronic warfare. He joined Kongsberg Maritime Singapore in 2008 and is now their Training Manager and Senior Navigation

Instructor. His remit includes the IMO STCW ECDIS Model Course 1.27, the Kongsberg ECDIS Familiarisation Course the and Kongsberg Navigation Simulator Course. Kok Fai also travels extensively to provide Kongsberg training courses in Norway, Korea, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Australia, Brunei, Myanmar, Taiwan and Nigeria.

Dave Wisse, Contract Manager, SMIT's Salvage, Singapore

Dave was appointed to the role of Salvage Contract Manager at SMIT Singapore Pte Ltd. in 2014. Before this, Dave was part of the Commercial Team at the SMIT Salvage Headquarters in The Netherlands. Prior to working at SMIT, he gained valuable experience in the world of maritime casualties and contracting during five years as a Charterer’s Liability Underwriter and Claims Handler with a P&I insurer in Rotterdam. Dave holds a postgrad

LLM degree in Business Law from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.

Seeba Ann Mathew, DNV GL, Consultant, Maritime Advisory

Seeba is a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of Section with DNV GL’s Shipping Advisory in Singapore. Her work is currently focused on developing cleaner and sustainable business solutions for the maritime industry. This includes market analysis (both upstream & downstream), the use of LNG as fuel, supply chain consultancy and environmental regulation analysis and advice. Seeba holds a MBA

degree in Global Logistics and a BSc in Marine Engineering from Birla Institute, India.

Lewis Hart, Executive Director, Willis Towers Watson, Singapore Lewis started his insurance career with brokers Lloyd Thompson Ltd in 1988. Lewis later joined Willis Faber & Dumas in 1997 as Divisional Director responsible for developing marine accounts in Europe. Lewis was posted to Willis’ Singapore office in 2005 and became Asian Practice Leader in 2007. Now appointed as Executive Director, Lewis is responsible for managing the Willis Towers

Watson marine team and their high volume South East Asia book of business.

Tom Bebbington, Director, Container Logic Pte Ltd Tom Bebbington is a qualified deck officer who transitioned to a shore based career as a container ship stowage planner and consultant. Container shipping demands short port time to optimise efficiency and profitability as well as ensure vessel and crew safety. Tom’s work in this specialist field includes senior posts with Maersk and other major liner and terminal operators as Project Manager and Stowage Optimisation Manager. Tom’s focus is on optimising container vessel operations by achieving ‘Lowest Slot Cost’.

Dr. Jasmine Lam, Assoc. Prof & Director of Maritime Studies, Nanyang Technological University Jasmine Lam, PhD, MSc, CILT, is the Director of the MSc Maritime Studies programme at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Jasmine has extensive experience in maritime executive education that includes invitations from the OECD, NOL, port authorities and banks to speak at international conferences and

seminars. Leading a R&D team and working closely with the maritime industry, government agencies and high-ranking universities, Jasmine has completed numerous research and industrial projects and her work has been widely published. Jasmine is also the recipient of many prestigious awards, including the National Day Honours 2015 Commendation Medal awarded by the President of Singapore.
