young people and their leaders in obtaining knowledge and developing life skills. The disciplines in-
clude archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and wildlife skills.
4-H’ers learn safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment including sound decision
making, self-discipline, and concentration. They promote the highest standards of safety, sportsman-
ship, and ethical behavior, and encourage understanding of our natural resources and the development
of a personal environmental stewardship ethic through participation in shooting, hunting, and related
activities. (http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/projects/shootingsports)
