Meeting called to order at 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time.Sheriff Korzenborn called role. Sheriff’s absent: Sheriff Boggs, Sheriff Hampton, Sheriff Stephens, Sheriff Woods, Sheriff Perdue, Sheriff Folger and Sheriff Whittaker. Sheriff Korzenborn certified a quorum.

Motion was made by Sheriff Peoples and seconded by Sheriff Sparrow to excuse the absent board members. Motion was approved unanimously.

MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING

A motion to approve the Minutes from April 12, 2017 made by Sheriff Byars and seconded by Sheriff Matthews to approve the minutes of the prior meeting as written. Motion was approved unanimously.

KSA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORTExecutive Director Jerry Wagner

KSA Director Wagner- March & April 17 ranch report. Motion to accept report, made by Sheriff Melton, 2nd by Sheriff Byars. Motion was approved unanimously.

KSA RANCH- 3 golf scrambles have been completed as of this date. Hiring ongoing at the ranch for summer camp.

Gator Tickets still selling, if you want the gator for an event contact Tracy and get it on the schedule.

KSA- still is working with Finance and Administrative Cabinet on Sheriff Issues and Policies.

KSA- will be working with the county clerks on issues that affect counties with the population of over 70,000.

NEW BUSINESS

KACo-KACo is working on buying storage for sheriffs for body worn cameras.

KACo-KSA working with KACO and other county association on the retirement issues.

Meetings-A monthly meeting with DOJ John Tilley on Sheriffs Issues was held. A monthly meeting as follow up will take place.

The KSA received a letter from Gov Teller/Convenient Pay asking for the KSA for their endorsement. A motion to recommend Gov Teller / Convient Pay made by Sheriff Wright 2nd by Sheriff Dills. The motion passed.

The board discussed the hiring of a service to take photographs at the conference or to use Jefferson County Sheriffs office as previously done in the past. The board agreed along with Sheriff Aubrey agreed that the JCSO would take the photos at the conference at no charge.

Sheriff Mike Jansen Campbell Counnty graduated from the National Sheriffs Institute.

DOCJT- Has begun using new curriclum

NEW BUSINESS

Sheriff Corman- Would like the KSA to work with with Legislatures about add on fees and the service of process in the next legislative session.

Sheriff Jansen- Introduced GBS to the board. GBS is currently working on programs for sheriffs only the service of process, vehicle inspections, CCDW, Fleet Inventory and Maintence along with a Transport and expense module. This auotmated system when completely developed can save time as the forms from the state will be automatically populated when office is entering information to system. GBS will do a demonstration at the conference and hosted lunch for the KSA meeting.

Memorial Service will be held May 23, 2017 in Richmond, KY

ICE-Sheriffs can’t hold ICE detainee when they are set to be released if no detainer by ICE has been issued. DOJ working on this problem to make the process legal to hold until detainer is filed.

New leadership in Washington DC- 1033 program being reinstated as it was orignally intended to do.
