Summer Camps

Kiddie Camp This activity-oriented summer program is designed specifically for children ages 3 ½ - 5, allowing for growth, learning and fun in a structured setting. Individual and group play, as well as, creativity are emphasized. Indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, swimming, story telling, movies, songs, plus special events are included. There will be field trips (additional cost). Two snacks and juice are provided daily. Children must bring a non-refrigerated lunch each day. This program is limited to 18 children. Half day morning option is available for Kiddie Camp only. Children must be toilet trained for this program.

Day Camp

Day camp introduces children, ages 6 - 10, to a healthy and fit life style, socialization skills, nature appreciation, cultural diversity, and challenging individual and group activities. There will be weekly field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, movies, special events and much more. Fees are based on full day weekly attendance. Children must bring a non-refrigerated lunch and two snacks each day.

Youth In Action Camp Recognizing the need for leadership, guidance, and opportunities for youth entering grades five and six, Youth In Action was fostered through its notably successful predecessor, Leaders Club. Youth will participate in a highly structured program that promotes strong values and character building, fit and healthy life style choices, nature appreciation, as well as, fun and educational field trips and events. This program is limited to 28 children. Children must bring a non-refrigerated lunch and two snacks each day.

Weekly Payment Sibling Discount: Each additional child in the same household paying on a weekly basis will receive a 25% discount. **Entire Summer Fee Discount: $360 for entire summer per child (Regular Hours) $420 for entire summer per child (Extended Hours and Youth In Action) **The Entire Summer Fee must be paid in full by 4:30 pm the Friday (June 22) before camp begins to receive the entire summer fee discount. Leaders Club - Back to Basics!

Ages: Entering grades 7 - 9 Dates: July 2 - August 9 Days: Monday - Thursday Time: 8:30 am - 5 pm Place: Kent County Middle School Cost: $200 for the entire summer (6 weeks) Leaders Club is a program that embarks on utilizing a peer pressure approach for middle school-aged youth by focusing on positive peer influences in a variety of educational, physically challenging, recreational and service learning type activities. Positive peer pressure influences teens to channel negative behavior into more positive and beneficial pursuits. This also helps to develop and enhance self-esteem, decision making, and problem solving skills. Leaders will earn service learning hours by serving through learning. Participants must bring a non-refrigerated lunch and two snacks each day. There will be special activities and field trips (additional cost). The program is limited to 28 leaders. Once we receive your application we will mail you a Leaders Club packet with more information to consider carefully before committing to the program.

Summer Playground Program

Ages: 6 - 11 Dates: June 25 - August 10 *Bonus Week: August 6 - August 10 (Monday - Thursday) Days: Monday - Friday (weather permitting) Time: 9 am - 5 pm Place: H. H. Garnett Elementary School Rock Hall Civic Center Cost: $50 per child for the summer This 7 week drop in program will offer arts and crafts, games, and activities to keep your child active during the summer months (weather permitting). Children will also enjoy two off-site activities per week. All the summer fun without the BIG commitment! Children must bring a non-refrigerated lunch and two snacks each day. Spaces are limited to 30 children per location.

The routines feature aerobic and fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Class format includes a segment using light hand weights to tone and strengthen major muscles and a segment for core strengthening. 100th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Festival

WEATHER CANCELLATION HOTLINE

Weather closing information and general announcements are posted on the Parks and Recreation home page bulletin board at www.KentParksAndRec.org and our Weather Cancellation Hotline at 410-810-3755 (usually no later than 7:30 am the day in question when weather related). Whenever possible (we will do our best, but can’t guarantee this will always happen), a courtesy email will be sent to individuals who have provided an email address for announcements and notifications. If you do not receive an email and weather is questionable, please visit our website homepage or call the Weather Cancellation Hotline. To be added to our email list please send an email to [email protected] and request to be added. School Year (September - May): In general, if Kent County Public Schools (KCPS) are closed, close early, or cancel evening programs, all programs at the public school sites are closed. Kent County Parks and Recreation (KCPR) youth programs at the Kent County Community Center (KCCC) and KCPR facilities are closed when county facilities remain *open. In general, KCCC will be open to the public on a drop-in basis when Kent County Government offices are open, however the operating schedule may be adjusted as needed as weather conditions warrant or in case of emergencies. If Kent County Government offices have a delayed opening or liberal leave is in effect, morning programs are closed. If KCPS are one hour or 90 minutes late, morning programs will be open. If KCPS are two hours late, morning programs will be closed. These general policies do not necessarily apply to programs offered by private venders (please refer to program description) at KCCC as they determine their opening and closing schedules when KCCC remains *open on a normal operating schedule. *All programs are closed when the Snow Emergency Plan or State of Emergency Plan is in effect. Weekend/Summer: In general, announcements for weekend and/or summer programs and events held at the KCCC or a KCPR facility are posted by 8 am on the day in question. Decisions for programs with a start time before 8 am will be posted by 10 pm the night before.
