Kensington Catch Up
9 June 20219 June 2021
Principal’s MessageWelcome to Kensington and Week Eight,
After much consultation I can let you know that the newplayground structures have been approved and are now withthe department for installation management. It is a four-monthturnaround so hopefully it will be installed and ready to go inTerm Four. The children are very excited.
Unfortunately, the re-roofing has been delayed but we dobelieve that it will start in the coming weeks hence we have notmoved the office back. Please continue to register at the frontdesk in the Library instead of in the main building.
With the new cluster of COVID-19 cases that has developed inVictoria and now into NSW this is a timely reminder that the DoErequires all people entering the school grounds to register withthe QR Code and our normal Passtab registration procedures.I thank you for adhering to these important safety proceduresand would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyonethat social distancing should continue to be common practice. All schools are ready to convert to online learning as standardpractice now but hopefully we will not have to go down thattrack.

This term our Eco Warriors are being given the opportunity towork with the team at Sydney Garden Maintenance to learnhow to care for our school gardens. On Friday May 28, someof the students in the Environmental Club as well as some ofour future Eco Warriors in Year 2 worked with the team totransplant and mulch the garden beds.
I learnt how to transplant plants. I enjoyed getting my handsdirty. It was fun gardening.
Isabella, 4K
I learnt how to transplant, which is cutting off a little bit of a bigplant and putting it into a pot to grow. We started off by gettingour gloves on, then we got pots and filled them up with soil. Thegardening people cut off a bit of red ruby and watered it beforeputting it in the sun. I like growing plants because usually mymum and dad do all of the gardening in our front and backyard.
Louisa, 4K
I learnt that sometimes mulching the plants makes themstronger. I liked learning how to help plants grow.
Joy, 2F
I never knew that plants take a very long time to grow. I likegardening because I learnt new information about plants.
Elaine, 2F
Thank you very much to OOSH for funding this program.
