FROM THE DEPUTIES - CONTINUED

Road & Neighbourhood MannersAs you know, all the roads around our school are extremely busy after school. Parking can also be at a premium. Although we understand that this can be frustrating, unfortunately there is nothing as a school we can do to ease this. What we can do, is all show a little extra patience and remember to follow the road rules to help ensure the safety of our children. During our walk around to the pick up in the afternoon, we are still seeing children without an adult crossing the road in unsafe locations and cars parking over our neighbours’ driveways. This is both illegal and rude. Please plan to arrive a little earlier to secure a car spot or park that extra 2 minute walk away in a correct parking location. Thank you for your cooperation.

Staff Car Park Boom GateWe have needed to make the decision to permanently close the staff car park boom gate. Unfortunately we have had 3 instances of cars hitting signs in the car park between 4 - 6pm which have been costly to repair. We ask you to please park on the street and walk the short distance into school to collect your children from before and after care.

Parent / Teacher Interviews This week our parent/teacher interviews were conducted. It provided an opportunity for teachers and parents to discuss the progress of their children. Thank you to our staff for giving up their time and to our parent community for attending. If you were unable to attend formal interviews this week, please contact the school office to arrange a mutually convenient time to schedule a meeting with the class teacher.

Canteen VolunteersOur extremely busy school canteen is still in desperate need of some more volunteers to assist. There is no on-going commitment, however, Alison would love to hear from you even if you can only volunteer one day a month or even on an emergency roster. Please drop a note to the office or contact the school office to assist.

Fruit and Vegetable Month

According to the most recent National Health Survey, only 5.1% of both children and adults eat the recommended number of daily serves of fruit and vegetables.

In response to this challenge, Healthy Kids Association runs an annual 4-week program in schools which is designed to increase kids’ intake of fruit and veg. “Fruit & Veg Month” is a health promotion program for NSW primary schools that helps to promote positive attitudes towards healthy eating through well-designed curriculum materials. The program

is supported by NSW Health.

Fruit & Veg Month 2018 will be held from Monday 3 September to Friday 28 September and this year’s theme is ‘Happy Fruit & Veg’tember!’

Keep an eye out for more information in the upcoming weeks.
