THE PRESENTERS Dr Anthony Mak graduated with multiple awards from the University of Sydney in 2002. He then went on to complete his Post Gradu-

ate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants). Dr Mak is one of Australia’s most sought after speakers, especially in the field of digital and restorative dentistry. He has lectured extensively in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia; and his hands-on workshops have gained such popularity that they are almost always booked out soon after registrations open. He is also gaining great popularity on the European and US circuit. Anthony is the author of two compelling compendiums detailing direct composite and indirect ceramic restorations, the clinical photography and documentations can only be described as exceptional. He has published numerous case studies and articles for local and international dental bodies, associations and the peer reviewed Australian Dental Journal. Anthony’s interest lies in dental technologies, advances in materials and techniques; and he has a unique understanding of CAD-CAM digital dentistry. Anthony runs two practices in metropolitan Sydney, focusing on quality modern comprehensive care, including aesthetic and implant dentistry. He is also a clinical consultant and key opinion leader for several global dental companies focusing on development of new dental technologies.

Professor Chris Peck is Director of the University of Sydney’s Westmead Initiative, former Dean of Sydney’s Faculty of Dentistry, and

President of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain. Professor Peck manages complex orofacial pain and disorder patients and conducts research trying to understand better the transition from acute to chronic pain, evidence-based diagnosis and management of orofacial pain, and the biomechanics of jaw dysfunction. A strong advocate for multidisciplinary patient management, he is internationally renowned for his leadership and contributions to translational research in orofacial pain and leading the clinical arm of projects involving researchers from biomedicine to mathematics. He is a senior facial pain expert in the NSW public health care system at the Royal North Shore Hospital’s Pain Management Research Institute, involved in patient care, clinical supervision and research. Profes-sor Peck is the immediate past President of the International Network for Orofacial Pain and Related Disorders and is part of an interna-tional team developing a comprehensive classification for Orofacial Pain.

Professor Richard Logan is the Dean and Head of the Adelaide Dental School. He completed his post-graduate training in Oral Patholo-

gy in 1998 at The University of Adelaide and gained his PhD in 2008. In 2007, he completed the Fellowship examination in Oral Pathology with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.His main research interest is in regard to toxicities of cancer treatment, particularly the pathobiology of alimentary tract mucositis. Internationally, he is a member of the Mucositis Study Group of the Multinational Associ-ation for Supportive Care in Cancer and recently he has been involved in the development of updated international guidelines for mu-cositis management.He has engaged widely with both the dental and medical professions. He is past President of the International Socie-ty of Oral Oncology and is previous Chair of the Faculty of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology of the Royal College of Pathologists of Austral-asia. Richard chairs the Dental Board of Australia’s Expert Reference Group (Specialists) as well as Equivalence Assessment Panels for internationally qualified dental specialists. He is currently a practitioner member of the Dental Board of Australia. In addition to his aca-demic role, Richard is also a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Clinpath Laboratories, Adelaide, South Australia.

Dr Barbara Woodhouse graduated in dentistry from the University of Queensland and has worked for Queensland Health and in

private practice – both in rural Queensland and in Brisbane – before deciding to specialise in oral and maxillofacial surgery. After com-pleting a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, she returned to the University of Queensland to teach and to complete a Masters degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery in combination with a four-year surgical training program, initially at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. To broaden her experience, Dr Woodhouse completed her final year in a world class training facility in the Unit-ed Kingdom and was admitted to Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She was awarded a travelling Fellowship to Europe in recognition of the work she undertook in England. On her return to Australia, Dr. Woodhouse commenced private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. At the same time she completed a medical degree through the University of Queensland and was award-ed a specialist Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. From 1994 to 2009, she was appointed as a consultant at the Royal Brisbane and Princess Alexandra Hospitals, where she pioneered several techniques not previously performed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Queensland. She has also served as Lieutenant Colonel Consultant to the Australian Army, and is currently on the national board of examiners for doctors applying for specialist registration in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Woodhouse regularly travels overseas to extend her skills and training and is the Chair of Operation Interface. She is a frequently invited speaker to medical and dental groups both in Australia and overseas.

Professor Ian Meyers OAM is a general dental practitioner and honorary professor at The University of Queensland School of Dentis-

try. Over the last thirty five years he has been involved in dental research, clinical dentistry, private practice, university and hospital based dental clinics and been a director and board member of numerous dental associations and colleges. His previous positions include being appointed as the inaugural Colgate Chair of Dental General Practice Dentistry, Chief Dental Officer for Queensland Health, Presi-dent of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Dental Association, and CEO of the Australian Dental Association Queensland Branch. He is a Fellow and current Board member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the International College of Dentists, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Professor Meyers is a long standing member of the ADA Dental Instruments, Materials and Equipment Committee and a member of the editorial board of The Australian Dental Journal and several other international journals. He is an external examiner at several dental schools and examiner for the Australian Dental Council. Throughout his career as an academic and clinician Ian has developed extensive experience in comprehensive patient care, diagnosis and management of worn and broken down dentition, geriatric and aged care dentistry, adhesive restorative dentistry and dental materials, and the management of patient’s in general dental practice through minimum intervention dentistry. He has lectured extensively on these topics both nationally and internationally.

Dr Keith Doonan qualified from the Royal London Hospital Medical College Dental School in 1993, he later completed his Masters in

Prosthodontics form Kings College London and now works in private practice performing implant surgery and prosthodontics. He has presented over 200 dental courses in Australia, New Zealand, UK, South Korea, Hong Kong and Italy. He is a mentor of the Royal Austral-asian College of Dental Surgeons, a past visiting Senior Lecture for UQ dental school and is on the educational faculty of Dental Protec-tion. He has organised live surgery hands on implant courses for the last 10 years and has supervised many dentists place their first implant. In his spare time he is involved in short films, theatre and stand up comedy and he is also quite tall.
