Knights of Columbus Council #3548 “Best in the South” October 2014 Vol 52 Issue 4 Brothers and families, Wow! Another month gone and a great one it was again! Let’s start off with the 80"s party. Thanks to those that made that great. Next monkey bot- tom. Although another loss, it was a great game. Great turn out and a memory to be had, because it was the last year to be had on a historical field with many, many memorable moments for some. Hats off and thank you to our coach Joe Hurd. Another good year Joe! We’ll get it next year. Next item, breakfast. If you missed breakfast on the 21st, then WOW, you missed something won- derful! I went and visited every table, nothing but the best compliments. Look forward to the next one! I hear talk of a special pumpkin spice pan- cake. Mmm, making my mouth water. Brother Jim Sosa to report more at council meeting. Still in process of getting Columbian squires back in action. Have received information from state and doing review. Will update at the next council meeting. Also, due to some issues, we now have 3 open officer positions, Chancellor. Warden, and Treasurer. If any 3 rd degree knight would like to step up and fill one of these positions, please see any of- ficers for info. We have a few more Friday Knight Dinners coming up on Oct 3 rd & Oct 10 th . Would love to see as many people come out as can. Don’t forget about the Golf Tournament on Oct 17 th . Entry Forms are available behind the bar, or on the website & Face- book page. You can drop off your forms at the bar, or mail them to Brother Matt Tomazic. His address is on the form. LOTKA News

Our Ladies’ Auxiliary will hold our next meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2nd at 7:00. New members are always welcome. Plans for our speaker are not finalized yet. However, we will have a speaker from UBS financial come in November and speak to us about Social Security benefits and Medicare. If you would like to bring a friend or family member, you may do so. Please let me know so that we can plan accordingly. Hope to see you on the 2nd of Octo-ber. Laura Reese (739-2677)

Friday Knight Dinners

We have a couple of great Friday Knight Dinners coming up. October 3rd, we have Bob's Finger Licken Chicken, corn bread, pasta salad, BBQ green beans. Cost is $6 a plate. October 10th we have Bill & Jennifer Duncan’s Lasagna night w/ salad and bread-sticks. Tickets are $12, and are available at the bar. As always din-ners are from 6:30-8:30pm. Bring your family and friends.

Thanksgiving Baskets

As the weather gets cooler, and the days get shorter, we begin to approach the time when we look at our lives, and give thanks. Not only what we can provide for ourselves, but what we can provide for others. And since there are those who cannot pro-vide for themselves, it is our duty to aid them. We have secured 50 Turkeys, but we are in need of the other items required so we can provide 50 Thanksgiving dinners to those who cannot provide. Please provide any items you can do-nate so that we can make this possible. We need to have all dona-tions no later than November 14th, so that we have enough time to organize the baskets and get them delivered. If you wish to simply provide a cash donation, please speak to a council officer. Items Needed 2 cans vegetables 2 disposable pie pans 2 can gravy pie crust mix for 2 pies Boxed mashed potatoes 2 pkgs corn muffin mix Boxed stuffing 2 cans of yam 1 can pumpkin pie filling 1 can fruit pie filling 1 can condensed milk 1 can chicken broth 2 cans cranberry sauce

2014 OV Golf Classic
