Loading the Film 2. Insert the film into the FILMCHAMBER 22 . Place the flat,recessed end of the film overthe FILM SPINDLE 12 . Pushthe other end of the filmdown into the film chamberuntil it snaps into place.

3. Pull out just enough film toplace the end of the film atthe FILM-LOAD MARK 18 .(Be sure the end of the filmis at the film-load mark oryou may not get anypictures).

If the end of the film extendspast the film-load mark, gentlypush the excess back into thefilm cartridge.

Lay the film flat between thefilm-guide rails.

1. Slide the LENS-COVERSWITCH 9 open until itlocks into place. The camerawill not work if the lens coveris not completely open.

2. For a sharp picture, be atleast 4 ft (1.2 m) from yoursubject in daylight and whenusing flash.

4. Hold the camera steady andgently press the SHUTTERBUTTON 1 to take apicture. Wait for the FLASH-/CAMERA-READY LIGHT 14to turn “on” before you takethe picture. The flashautomatically fires when youtake a picture (see TAKINGFLASH PICTURES). Do notblock the lens or flash withyour fingers, strap, or anyother object.

5. The film automaticallyadvances so you can takeyour next picture.

Using the Focus LockThis camera automaticallyfocuses on whatever is withinthe auto-focus frame of theveiwfinder eyepiece. If youwant to take a picture with thesubject positioned outside ofthe auto-focus frame, use thefocus lock as follow:

1. Place the auto-focus frameon the subject that you wantfocused in the picture.

In dim light, such as indoors oroutdoors in heavy shade, or ondark overcast days, you needflash. Your camera features anautomatic flash that fires whenyou need it.

Using Red-Eye-ReductionTo minimize red-eye in flashpictures of people, use the red-eye-reduction feature.Whenever the flash is needed,the red-eye-reduction willautomatically be active.

1. Partially depress the SHUTTERBUTTON 1 . The RED-EYE-

REDUCTION LAMP 6 stayson as long as the shutterbutton is partially depressed.

2. Have your subject lookdirectly at the red-eye-reduction lamp for a fewseconds before you take thepicture.

3. If you choose not to use red-eye-reduction, do not delayin pressing the shutter button.

After you take the last pictureon the roll of film, slide theFILM-REWIND SWITCH 21 intoposition to start the film rewind.You may get a few extrapictures on a roll (26 instead of24, etc.). Wait for the cameramotor to stop before you openthe FILM DOOR 17 andremove the film cartridge.

Unloading the Film Using Mid-Roll RewindIf you don’t want to takepictures on the entire roll offilm, you can rewind the filmmanually. Slide the FILM-REWIND SWITCH 21 in until itlatches and remains in the onposition. Wait for the cameramotor to stopbefore youremove the filmcartridge.
